Afterwards, Sanctuary Director Bob Prescott will discuss the final years of the Outermost House when it was owned by Mass Audubon and local Beston expert Don Wilding will join in for a discussion on Beston s significance to the culture and history of the Outer Cape. Join a naturalist at Fort Hill in Eastham to look for these elusive species and other, less-secretive marsh birds. Friday, August 24, 10 AM Noon Seabirds and Seals at High Head Hike along a sand road through the dunes to the Atlantic where we ll search for jaegers, shearwaters, and other oceanic birds. Kayak Trip Explore the winding tidal rivers, quiet bays, and scenic marshes of Cape Cod on a naturalist-led kayak trip. $50 M/$55 NM Great : Paddle the Herring River basin and along the glacial bluffs of Great, a 3-mile barrier beach and island system separating Cape Cod Bay from. Nauset : Explore the winding, tidal creeks of Nauset, the largest salt marsh on the Outer Cape and a great place to view wading and shorebirds, ospreys, and large numbers of seals. Pleasant Bay: Cape Cod s largest embayment, Pleasant Bay includes shorelines in the towns of Orleans, Brewster, Harwich, and Chatham. Along the paddle are a number of eelgrass beds that teem with marine life. Seals, herons, egrets, and shorebirds are also commonly seen.
