Official Moonrise FAQ Contents Getting Started... 2 Moonrise Basic Training... 4 Moonrise Advanced Training... 6 Expert Warden Training (PvP)... 7

Getting Started New to Moonrise? Read this part first! Q: What kind of game is Moonrise? A: Moonrise is a real-time, tactical creature battler. What that means is that you re in control of a team of six monsters ( Solari ), who fight alongside your character avatar (your Warden ), using various skills to defeat corrupted monsters ( Lunari ) or other players. Since the game is real-time you ll need to be focused while you re playing -- no pit stops in the kitchen for a snack! Q: Is the game single-player or multi-player? A: The story mode of Moonrise is a single-player (PvE) experience. Our PvP modes allow you to battle your friends or other players from around the world! Q: What kind of battles are there? A: You can either battle against monsters or Wardens controlled by the game, or fight against your friends or other online players. Q: What devices can I play Moonrise on? A: Right now, you can play Moonrise on your Windows or Macintosh PC through Steam and through a limited release on iphone and ipad devices in Canada, Denmark and Sweden. Q: What are the recommended Specs for the game? If you ve purchased your computer within the last several years, Moonrise should work just fine on your computer. Windows: Minimum: OS: Windows 7 Processor: 1.86GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Memory: 2 GB RAM Graphics: GeForce 9600 GSO/ Radeon HD 2600 XT / Intel HD 3000 Network: Broadband Internet connection Hard Drive: 2 GB available space Recommended: OS: Windows 7 / Windows 8.1 Processor: 2.0 GHz Intel i3 Memory: 4 GB RAM Graphics: GeForce GTX 450 \ Radeon HD 5850 \ Intel HD 4000 Network: Broadband Internet connection Hard Drive: 4 GB available space Mac OS Minimum: OS: OSX Mavericks (version 10.9) Processor: 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Memory: 2 GB RAM Graphics: GeForce 9400M Network: Broadband Internet connection Hard Drive: 2 GB available space Recommended: OS: OSX Yosemite (version 10.10) Processor: 2.2 GHz Intel Core i3 Memory: 4 GB RAM Graphics: Intel HD 4000

Network: Broadband Internet connection Hard Drive: 4 GB available space Q: Do I need an internet connection to play Moonrise? A: Yes. You will need a stable internet connection to play. Q: What happens if I get disconnected in the middle of a battle? A: It depends on if you are playing PvP or not. If you re battling against a computer AI in a single-player game, no worries: you ll resume that battle the next time you connect. For games played against other players a disconnect usually results in losing the battle. We understand that disconnects can be incredibly frustrating when they count as a loss in ranked game modes, but we have no way of detecting if whether a disconnect is legit or intentional. Allowing players to purposely turn off wifi to avoid a loss would be exploited to the point where the game mode became unplayable.

Moonrise Basic Training Read this section to learn the basics of Moonrise lore and gameplay. Q: What is a Solari? A: Powerful and mysterious beasts, most Solari are quite clever, and enjoy working alongside human beings. They can be found almost everywhere, from the peaks of mountains to the bottom of the sea, and from isolated caves to bustling cities. Solari have found ways to adapt to, and thrive in, all environments. Q: What is a Lunari? A: Under the corrupting shadow of the Moonrise, Solari are transformed, violently, into savage Lunari. Aggressive, standoffish and territorial, Lunari present a danger to civilization itself. Only the Wardens Guild is able to stop them. Q: What is a Warden? A: A Warden is a member of a select group, trained from an early age to face the fearsome Lunari. Wardens have the rare ability to subdue and cure these creatures that have been corrupted by the Moonrise. Most of them work with the Wardens Guild, protecting everything from small towns to major cities, and providing ordinary civilians with safe travel through the wilderness. Q: How many Solari do I start with? A: At the start of Early Access you can choose one from three different 4-star Solari. Q: How do I get new Solari? A: Once you've battled and cured a Lunari, you may choose to recruit the new Solari into your Team by using a Warden Key. (A few rare Lunari flee after battle, rather than allowing themselves to be recruited, but those instances are few and far between.) Q: How many Solari can I recruit? A: While you can only enter battles with six Solari on your Team at one time, you can recruit up to 60 Solari on your roster. By purchasing additional slots you can increase your roster size to 200. Q: What are these Warden Keys? How do I get more? A: Warden Keys are used to recruit new Solari. You gain more keys periodically, and they can also drop as rewards. If you cure a Lunari when you have no keys, you can purchase a key by spending gems. Q: How do I choose which Solari to put into my Team? A: There are almost as many reasons as there are players! For example, to increase your odds of success in battle, it helps to consider what you ll be facing and prepare your team s affinities to handle that threat. Other players build highly specialized teams with a particular strategy in mind. And some of us just pick the Solari we like best. Q: What is an affinity? A: Each Solari s affinity describes its elemental flavor. For example, Emberjaw has the Fire affinity, which means its skills are mostly fire-themed. Each affinity can be strong or weak against other affinities in a way that s similar to Rock-Paper-Scissors. Emberjaw is strong against Nature Solari (such as Snaptrap), but it s weak against Nemony (which is a Water Solari).

Moonrise Dev Brian Giaime talks about affinities in his Combat article here: http://undeadlabs.com/2014/10/news/combat-in-moonrise/ Q: What are the types of affinities? A: Here are the six most common affinities we have in game right now. As you play, you might encounter some other, rarer affinities, so keep your eyes open! Fire Water Nature Stone Electric Basic Q: How do I upgrade my Solari? A: As you defeat wild Lunari, you'll collect different essence. Applying these essences in the upgrade menu (accessed from any Solari s stat card) will raise your Solari's stats. Q: What do these stats mean? A: Here is the breakdown: Strength improves the damage of your Strength-based attacks. Armor reduces the damage of Strength-based attacks used against you. Spirit improves the damage of your Spirit-based attacks. Resist reduces the damage of Spirit-based attacks used against you. Speed reduces boot times and cooldown times of all skills. Health determines how much damage a Solari or Warden can withstand. Q: How do my Solari get new skills and more Health? A: Each time you battle, whether it's a Lunari or another Warden, the Solari on your team get experience points. These XP accrue until your Solari hits a milestone, which might increase its Health, grant it access to a new skill, or open up the opportunity to evolve into a new form. All the Solari on your active team gain XP, even if they re not active in battle. Exception: A Solari that s defeated in battle gains no XP! Q: How do I access Dungeons? A: Entering a dungeon costs a small amount of gold, which scales to the challenge of the dungeon. You can also buy a Dungeon Pass from the store, which gives you free access to all dungeons for 1 or more hours. Q: I'm running low on gold. How do I get more? A: You can earn gold by completing quests or by sparring with the (computer-controlled) Wardens who hang out in taverns and outside each town. If you re looking to speed up your earnings, visit our store to purchase a Gold Boost. This powerup increases the gold you earn from all sources by either 50% or 100%, depending on which boost you buy. You can also take the direct route by spending gems in the store to buy a quantity of gold.

Moonrise Advanced Training After you ve played for a while, you might need some of the tips here. Q: I just got a pop-up with a new skill but it says my deck is full. What do I do now? A: There are so many different ways for you to play Moonrise and changing or upgrading skills is a great way to make the game unique to your play style. When you tap the arrow at the top of a skill card, it flips over to show you the stats of the skill. This lets you compare a new skill to the skills your Solari already knows. If you like the new skill, you can replace an older skill with it by dragging the new skill onto the older skill s card. Good news! You don't have to lose the skill you're replacing. You can choose the Extract Skill option and spend some gold to put the replaced skill into a pool of skills that you can use later. There's actually an in-game quest to extract a skill and use it on another Solari. Q: My Solari just maxed out in stats and health points. What do I do now? A: You evolve that critter and enjoy all of the benefits that go along with getting a more powerful Solari. Q: Er, how do I evolve my Solari? A: Evolution requires a few key items. Select the Solari that you want to evolve and it will give you a list of the requirements. Most of the required items, for example "Moon Dust," are found in dungeons. Go forth and explore, young Warden! Pro-tip: If you hover over the required ingredient, it will tell you where that item can be found. Q: I've messed up my team. How do I start over? A: Well the good news is that you don't have to start over. Also, you really can't mess up your team. There isn't any pre-determined team build that gets you to the end game. If you don't like the team you have, you can just recruit different Solari and level them up to perfect your team. Remove the Solari that you don't want from your team and add new ones. You can also release any of your Solari to the Wardens Guild if you no longer want it in your collection. The guild even thanks you for your hard work in curing that Solari with valuable rewards! Q: I want different clothes or hair for my Warden. How do I make that happen? A: Our Moonrise stylists are at your service. You can change your Warden's appearance using dyes and clothing items that you'll receive from quests or treasure chests found in dungeons. Fortunato also has fashion tokens that you can purchase or find as loot that will earn you appearance items. For more extreme changes, you can also purchase an appearance change item in the store that allows you to go through the character creation process again (note that this doesn t allow you to change your Warden s name, though).

Expert Warden Training (PvP) Looking for a challenge beyond the story? Time to read up on PvP combat! Moonrise currently features three modes of PvP: Ranked, Unranked, and Arena. If you enter the PvP menu (which can be found in the same place you access your Warden and Solari information) you are given an option to select between all three modes of PvP) Q: What is Ranked PvP? A: Ranked is competitive PvP that lets you earn rewards by bringing your own Solari and Warden into battle against other Wardens who are close to your level. Each time you win a battle, you gain experience towards your next PvP rank. Your progress is tracked by the Moon Phase indicator. When the Moon is full, you unlock your next rank! Q: How do I play Ranked PvP? A: Open the PvP menu and tap or click on the Ranked PvP button. This puts you into a queue with other players of your approximate level and PvP experience. Win battles for rewards the more you win, the more you earn! Q: What is Unranked PvP? A: Unranked is a jump-in-and-go mode of PvP that lets you test your team and your strategy against other players with no downside to losing. It doesn t offer rewards, but the benefit is that losing doesn t hurt your PvP ranking. Q: How do I play Unranked PvP? A: Open the PvP menu and tap or click on the Unranked PvP button. You ll be matched up with a random player seeking an opponent. In addition to offering prizes, Unranked PvP gives you a risk-free place to test out new teams or strategies. You can also challenge another player in-game by clicking on their Warden s avatar, then selecting the Sword icon in the pop-up menu. Challenging another player in this way is similar to Unranked (in that your results don t affect your PvP rank), but it offers smaller rewards (because you can choose your opponent). Q: What is Arena PvP? A: Arena is a special PvP experience that lets you try out a super-powerful team! When you enter the Arena, your Warden is temporarily raised to level 50! Each player then builds their team from separate small pools of randomly assigned level-50 Solari, and selects their Warden s relics from a pool of six options. Upon entering the Arena, you ll battle other players or AI-controlled Wardens. Winners receive pretty sweet rewards! Q: How do I play Arena PvP? A: Each session of Arena PvP costs one ticket. If you have a ticket indicator at the top of your screen, that means that you can play in the Arena mode! (You get a new ticket every 16 hours.) To enter the Arena, open your PvP menu and click or tap on the Arena PvP button. That will consume that ticket and enters you into the Arena queue. Each ticket allows you up to ten wins or three losses -- whichever comes first! Q: I m getting a lot of challenges, but I don t want to play PvP right now. Can I ignore challenges? A: There s no obligation to accept a challenge, so if you re not in the mood you can decline. If you re not interested in PvP combat, you can turn off PvP by clicking on your Warden and sliding the PvP selector to the off position so that other players are unable to challenge you.
