What we do - Our vision is a free Tibet in which Tibetans are able to determine their own future and the human rights of all are respected. - We campaign for an end to China's occupation of Tibet and for international recognition of Tibetans' right to freedom. - We mobilise active support for the Tibetan cause, champion human rights and challenge those whose actions sustain the occupation.

Why fundraise for Free Tibet? Raising money is a fun and rewarding way to contribute to Free Tibet. The money you raise will enable us to move further towards our vision of a free Tibet. Your money will directly support us in: 1) Sharing Accurate Information We are at the forefront of sharing breaking news from inside Tibet. We share this via social media, our website and worldwide media. 2) Challenging China We counter Chinese propaganda by pressuring world leaders and expose the reality about Tibet, driving international support for Tibetans struggle for freedom. 3) Lobbying We lobby political leaders to do more for Tibet. We provide evidence of torture and human rights abuses in Tibet to the United Nations. 4) Campaigning We run targeted campaigns challenging corporations seeking to profit from the occupation. We spread the truth about Tibet by sharing information on individual Tibetan political prisoners.

Planning your fundraiser Planning a fundraiser can be tricky, so before you get started make sure you draw up a plan of action. This will ensure that everything runs smoothly and successfully. Here are 7 simple steps to help you plan: 1) Choose something fun to do If it s the first time you are organising a fundraiser, keep it simple. Think of a fun idea and ask all of your friends to get involved. If you love baking cakes, why not hold a bake sale at work or elsewhere? If you want to get physical, you could join an organised sponsored run or walk, or you could organise your own! If you re a pro at putting on events, you could be more adventurous. We are here to talk through some ideas and give you advice and support. 2) Choose a date, time and set a fundraising goal Set a target of how much you want to raise it will give you an incentive to really strive to reach it, and will help you decide on what exactly you need to do for your fundraiser. 3) Decide on the venue/location if you are organising an event Before picking your venue/location, make sure you have considered all the important questions: 1. Will it appeal to my audience? 2. Is it accessible? 3. What costs will I incur? 4. Is it available for the particular date(s)?

4) Start publicising It is important that people know about, otherwise all the hard work you have put into organising/training will go to waste. If you re inviting friends or getting sponsors, use email and social media. If you re trying to reach more people, you can put up posters, leave flyers in places (doctors surgeries, libraries etc.). Don t forget to give us all the details so we can help with promotion! 5) Get some help from your friends and family Make sure you don t go it alone! Think about your networks how can people help? Where do they work? What connections do they have in the community? What talents do they have? Invite your friends, local groups and local businesses to get involved. There are hundreds of enthusiastic people out there who love to get involved, so make sure you network and get all the help you need. 6) Think about safety Carrying a first aid kit, checking equipment and informing people of fire exits are important if you re hiring a venue. There are many safety factors involved depending on the type of fundraiser you are running. These can be discussed with us. 7) Stay in touch with us along the way We re here with you the whole way! If you need to have a chat about anything or if you want us to send you any materials or a T- shirt, get in touch with us at any stage of your event. We re here to help you.

Tips for Success Collect your money as soon as possible this will save you time and effort after the event! Remember to carry change when collecting money from people. Give your event a personal touch. People are more likely to give when they hear a story behind something, and they know what it means to you. Ask everyone and anyone to sponsor you. Use all forms of communication to reach out to people. Ask family and friends to collect sponsorship in your behalf. Make sure you know enough about the cause. This will ensure that you can accurately answer questions.

Useful Information Legal stuff When setting up a public event, there are always some rules and regulations that you need to follow. These will ensure the safety and enjoyment of all attendees. Speaking to your local authority can always be helpful. They can guide you on any legal issues, and licensing you may need and health and safety precautions you need to be aware of.
