1. Safety precautons In ths operatng manual, the nstallaton, puttng nto operaton and the operaton tself of the Stran Gauge Brdge Amplfer BA 660 s descrbed. It s assumed that all measures are taken by qualfed staff only who have adequate knowledge n the felds of measurng and control engneerng. ATTENTION! Any noncomplance wth these safety precautons may result n severe damage to property and health. 1.1. Feld of applcaton The Stran Gauge Brdge Amplfer BA 660 has been desgned to the purpose of amplfyng the output sgnals of sensors wth metalfol stran gauges, preferably force transducers and transform them nto standard sgnals. Any other applcaton s regarded contrary to the ntended purpose. The manufacturer does not accept any lablty for damages resultng from such napproprate usage. In ths case t s the user alone who has to bear the rsk. Type BA 660 must not be used as the sole means to prevent dangerous condtons of machnes and plants. All machnes and plants must be constructed n such a way (e.g. by usng mechancal stops, lmt swtches) that a condton of falure does not result n a stuaton of severe danger. It must be made sure that any erroneous settng or malfuncton of the unt or ts breakdown cannot cause damage or be a rsk to the operatng staff or other persons. 1.2. Installaton The unt must be nstalled and connected n complance wth the current DIN and VDEstandards. Supply cables and sgnal lnes shall be nstalled so that nterference sgnals such as electrcal nterference do not have any adverse effects on the functon of the equpment. 1.3. Mantenance The devce does not contan any components that requre mantenance. Repars shall be carred out by the manufacturer only. 2. Functon The Stran Gauge Brdge Amplfer BA 660 s a dgtal amplfer for the lowdrft amplfcaton of the output sgnals of sensors wth metalfol stran gauges, preferably force transducers to supply a standard sgnal of (10/0...10) VDC or (0/4...20) ma. An nternal voltage source provdes the stablzed feedng voltage for the sensor. The power s suppled by an unstablzed source of (9...36) VDC. The Stran Gauge Brdge Amplfer s delvered n a case for standard rals n accordance wth DIN EN 5002235. The BA660 s delvered wth a factory settng for an nput sgnal of 2mV/V and a correspondng output sgnal of ± 10V or 20mA. The other nput sgnal ranges 0.1mV/V to 7mV/V can be generated nternally from the 2mV/V factory adjustments. The dfferent settngs of the factory adjustments (zero pont and gan) can be changed by the user through keys. By an optcally separated nput, the zerosettng can be carred out by means of a superor control and through the trgger nput. The overload lmt s not affected by such a zerong, whch means that 100 % of the endvalue adjustment of the sensor remans as end value. An exstng preload by a contaner can thus be set zero. 4.1. How to connect force transducers 4.1.1. Installaton recommendatons Use shelded cables. Use the largest possble cable cross secton (Error due to cable extenson). Lay the measurng lnes separately from the power supply lnes. At the force transducers and the measurng amplfer, make as short as possble a connecton to earth, n partcular n strong electromagnetc felds. Addtonally, lay an equpotental bondng parallel to the measurng lne. Keep away from stray felds of motors, transformers and contactors. Connect force transducers, amplfer, mans unt, and ndcator / processor unt wth earth n one place only. Set the slde swtch for the sensng lne (6 or 4wre) accordng to the sensor connecton. 4.2. How to connect sgnal output The Brdge Amplfer BA 660 provdes dfferent output sgnals, dependng upon the settng of the slde swtches. (see 5.8) Ether the current output or the voltage output can be used, not both at the same tme. 4.2.1. Parallel connectons of outputs To form the sum, current outputs of several BA660 can be connected n parallel. In ths case, 12V should not be exceeded at the standard output and the maxmum load (load resstance) be <12V / I Out.Voltage outputs must not be connected n parallel. 4.2.2. How to connect supply voltage The supply voltage s connected to the termnal (24V) and to (0V). The brdge amplfer s protected aganst voltage reversal. 4.2.3. Trgger nput The BA660 has an optcally separate trgger nput so that the zerosettng can be carred out by means of a superor control. The overload lmt s not affected by such a zerong. The functon s started by a 24 VDC trgger mpulse. Techncal changes reserved. 05/2016 Page 5 of 9

Indvdual adjustments of the amplfcaton (see 5.4.) or of the zero pont (see 5.5) carred out later by the user, do only nfluence the actve measurng range that has just been set. When smultaneously pushng the two keys >100% < and >0% < for 2s, all zeropont adjustments and endvalue adjustments of all ten measurng ranges are deleted and reset to the factory settngs of 0mV/V ntal value of the selected sgnal output (5/10/0V or 0/4mA) and 2mV/V end value of the selected sgnal output (5/10V or 20/24mA).
