WWW.NORTHVILLEARTHOUSE.ORG 1 Welcome to the Northville Art House 2018 Spring/Summer Brochure ssbrochure Register today for Spring/Summer 2018 Classes & Summer Camps! The Northville Art House classes and workshops run daily from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm. We pride ourselves in offering small class sizes for both our 6 week classes and workshops, because of this we ask that all students pre-register. Walk-in and lastminute registrations may not be accommodated. Pre-registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis and is required to guarantee supplies. Registration forms and full tuition payment must be received before the first class. Classes require at least three students enrolled in order to run or they will be cancelled. The Northville Art House reserves the right to cancel any class for any reason. In this event, students will receive a full refund. The Northville Art House does not prorate classes. A 50% refund will be given to any student who cancels their registration before the first class. After the first class, no refund will be given. Please note that some classes have an additional materials fee. These fees are payable to the instructor. Class prices are listed for members (M) and non-members (NM). Tuesdays 10:00-11:15 am; Spring 2: May 1 st June 5 th 6 weeks; (M) $80; (NM) $88 (Additional $8 materials fee payable to instructor) Young Artists DRAWING & PAINTING Instructor: Maria Latour Kids ages 7-12: Learn the fundamentals of drawing, painting, and composition while exploring various subject matter including landscape, still life, nature, and dream imagery. Media explored includes: pencil, charcoal, pastels, watercolor, and acrylic paint on canvas. Students will be exposed to all different types of art with an emphasis on experimentation and exploring their own creativity. Week 2: June 25 th 28 th ; 9:30 AM 12:00 PM: Grades K 3rd Under the Sea: Painting, Drawing & Sculpture: Instructor Maria Latour Travel under the sea: Paint a sea turtle, sculpt an octopus, create a sculpture out of sea shells and much more in this sea life themed art camp. Week 2: June 25 th 28 th ; 1:00 3:30 PM: Grades 3 rd 7 th 3D Adventure: Draw, Clay and Paper Mache ; Instructor Maria Latour Students will explore this two and three-dimensional art form. Using clay, paper mache, drawing, including optical illusions, shading and more to create 2D pictures and 3D forms. Week 3: July 9 th 12 th ; 9:30 AM 12:00 PM: Grades 4th 8th Paint Exploration: Watercolor & Acrylic Paints Instructor Nancy Barick Students will explore color, blending, brush strokes and more. Learn the various fun ways acrylic and watercolor paints can be used. Students will work with canvas & watercolor papers. (Material Fee of $20 given to the instructor on the first day of camp.)

Week 5: July 23 rd 26 th ; 1:00 3:30 PM: Grades 3 rd 7th Time Machine: Draw, Paint & Collage: Instructor Maria Latour Take a journey back in time to explore the art of past decades. Students will draw, paint and collage their own master pieces, taking inspiration from Impressionism to tie dye and pop art of the 1960s.

Using inks, stencils, markers, and various paint mediums. Learn and incorporate photography and digital design into your artwork. Week 7: August 13 th 16 th ; 9:30 AM 12:00 PM: Grades K 3rd Adventure Around the World: Mixed Media: Instructor Maria Latour Explore the art, landscape, and animals of a different country each day. Kids will learn how to use many different mediums: acrylics, watercolor, oil pastels and colored pencils. Week 7: August 13 th 16 th ; 1:00 3:30 PM: Grades 1 st - 4 th Cool Critters: Draw, Paint & Mixed Media: Instructor Maria Latour Cool Critters: Learn how to draw monkeys, sculpt a clay lion, paint a polar bear and create a colorful mixed media collage of YOUR favorite animal. Week 8: August 20 th 23 rd ; 9:30 AM 12:00 PM: Grades 6 th 10 th Teen Mixed Media: Instructor Julie Woodard Students will learn about and have fun creating and expressing themselves artistically while learning specific techniques for these four different mediums. WWW.NORTHVILLEARTHOUSE.ORG 7 Little Hats, Big Hearts Volunteers from around the country are joining the American Heart Association, in connection with The Children s Heart Foundation, to celebrate American Heart Month by knitting and crocheting red hats for babies born in February at participating hospitals. Little Hats, Big HeartsTM, honors babies, moms and heart healthy lives in a very special way. Supporters are knitting and crocheting red hats to be given out to thousands of babies during American Heart Month in order to empower moms to live heart healthy lives and to help their children do the same. Patters can be found at www.northvillearthouse.org or go to www.heart.org How can you help? Crochet or Knit newborn size red hats, made in red acrylic or cotton yarn and drop them off a The Northville Art House on Thursday and Saturday, now until October 2018. Learn to Crochet or Knit through the Northville Art House class offerings to make baby hats and donate to the cause. Donate any red yarn that is machine washable. (preferable acrylic or cotton) Donate a monetary gift to support shipping costs for the hats. Crochet and Knitting Class Students will follow a basic Crochet or Knitting pattern that will be easy and fun to follow for any skill level. Children 8 + and adults are welcome to learn a new skill or brush up on past experiences. Students are to bring any worsted weight acrylic red yarn and a size " size F crochet hook (for crochet class) or size 8 knitting needles (for knitting class).." Participants will be given written instructions to keep to practice at home and make more hats. It is recommended that you are already familiar with basic life drawing as this is not a beginner class. We will be looking at, discussing and simplifying the entire bone structure which is what establishes an armature for muscle and flesh to sit upon. After two days of focusing on the bone structure, we will move into the muscle structure and learn what makes each person unique. Live models will be present daily so students can put this new-found knowledge to the test after each mini-lecture. The instructor will utilize the skeleton, competed anatomical drawings, handouts books and many, many drawing demonstrations to share her love of the figure.
