FD50-H SLIDING DOOR SYSTEM Installation Manual (Ceiling Mount Type for Pocket Door, with Dual Soft Close) Part No.FD50DHCP-PD Thank you for purchasing Sugatsune products. Read the instructions carefully first to ensure correct installation. After reading the instructions and installing the product, keep this guide at hand for easy reference at any time. ABOUT THE PRODUCT This product is parts set for sliding door system for indoor use. The rail can be divided for easy maintenance after installing. SPECIFICATIONS Door width Max. Door height Min. Door weight 50kg/door The closing speed of the soft closing type door may change due to ambient temperature, operating method or installation quality. Recommended ambient temperature range is 5 to 0 degrees centigrade. Door retraction: Retract door slowly. Door FOR YOUR SAFETY WORK AND OPERATION This symbol denotes prohibited actions. This symbol denotes what must be done. WARNING: If these warnings are not followed, it may result in death or serious injury. It is necessary to manufacture the frame with sufficient strength so it endures the weight of the door and impact shocks upon opening/closing the door. Also make sure to only use the designated screws and to fasten them firmly. A frame with poor strength or loose screws might result in improper and slower movement of the door. In the worst case, the door might drop down and cause injury. Do not try to use this product for any other purposes than originally intended for. Do not use the parts for applications that are out of specification. Do not disassemble nor modify any parts other than those described in this document. Caution: If these cautions are not followed, it may result in injury or damage. This (sliding door system) should be installed by an experienced person who has correct knowledge. If the system is not installed correctly, the door will not operate smoothly, and or may cause injury. This (sliding door system) is a part for furniture fittings. After installation, make sure to test the finished product thoroughly to ensure that it is well-functioning and safe. Make sure to follow the designated measurements and specifications as well as horizontal and verticals angles. Make sure that frame and door are not warped nor bent, since it may affect the movement of the door. If cutting any parts, make sure to remove any burr before installation. Also check the upper rail for any left-over burr or scrap and remove these. Make sure to test the screws for slack at regular intervals (one month from first usage, half year and then one time every year is recommended). When installing pocket door specification, make easy-maintenance structure.for example, use removable panel. We recommend that the installation is carried out by two people, in order to ensure proper installation and avoid unnecessary stress on the parts.

ASSEMBLY (This manual explains assembly procedures for single side Confirmation before assembly Check that dimensions of frame, floor, door and rail are correct. Check that frame and floor are not inclined. Check that door is processed correctly. Check that door is not warped. Check that all parts are prepared. Remove any dirt or aluminum chips from the rail as they would damage the rollers and cause noise during operation. INSTALLING DOOR POCKET RAIL Mount to the upper frame. Fix it with attached screws. Assemble the cover panel to the door pocket after mounting the rail. Remove any dirt or aluminum chips from the rail. The end which has three countersunk holes must face center. Attached screws (Cross recessed countersunk head tapping screws 0)

PREPARATION OF MOUNTING PARTS INSTALLATION OF CASING AND DOOR GUIDE TRACK Pull up lever to separate main unit from casing. (main unit) (casing) Fix the casing with attached screws firmly. Insert it until it is hidden by the rail. 6 CONFIRMATION BEFORE INSTALLING THE DUAL SOFT CLOSER OK Correct set position Trigger catcher Correct set position If the position is wrong, pull back the trigger catcher to the correct position using 6mm diameter hard bar. ϕ6 Incorrect set position If the closer is installed without conformation, it will cause the trouble such as no-sliding of door. ASSEMBLY OF PARTS FOR OPEN AREA RAIL. Assemble the parts in order of to with care of direction. You can insert the parts smoothly from the connecting end which has no burr. Remove any dirt or aluminum chips from the rail. Tape around upper roller and upper rail to prevent inserted parts from moving. The edge which has three countersunk holes is the end to be connected. 8 INSTALLING OPEN AREA RAIL. Align the rail end to the end of the door pocket rail. Overlap the two countersunk holes on the Pocket trigger and the two holes on the Upper rail nearby the open area. Insertion of the trigger may be difficult if the rails are not aligned. Pull out the Pocket trigger from the door pocket rail, and insert it to the open area rail. The edge which has three countersunk holes is the end to be connected. When sliding Pocket trigger, use a screwdriver. Take care not to damage the rail when sliding the Pocket trigger with screwdriver which jumps out of the hole. Scratches on the running track may cause a noise of rollers during operation. Fix the and Pocket trigger with provided screws in order of to. 5 Take care of the alignment of both rails when tightening screws. Be careful about the misalignment of the rails. Tighten the screws firmly. Screw 0 Screw 0 OK 5 Screw 0 Screw 0 Move Rollers if they cover the fixing holes on the rail. After fixing the rail, move rollers and check if there's any misalignment or gap between the rails. 5

9 INSTALLING FLOOR GUIDE Position the center of Floor guide just vertically under the position of the rail. Fix Floor guide at the position as shown in the figure below. The figure shows the position of the model which has margin. Click Insert the convex part of Floor guide in the groove, and then hang the door. (casing) Convex part. CONFIRMATION OF SLIDING DOOR CLOSER OPERATION Trigger Remove the support under the door. Slowly move the door toward door head, and confirm that sliding door closer starts its function at approx. 00mm before full-close position. Also, confirm that the door tail closer starts its function at approx. 50mm before full-close position. If the closer is not working correctly, check the Troubleshooting section. Do not close the door with excessive force. It may cause damage or malfunction of soft close mechanism. 6

ADJUSTING DOOR POSITION Adjust door such that door is parallel to upper rail with 9mm clearance between door and floor. Do not turn adjustment screw more than adjustment range. To avoid damage on the adjustment screw do not use motor screw driver. Vertical adjustment range: 7mm Forward / backward adjustment range: mm 0 Clockwise =Raise Counterclockwise=Lower ADJUSTINGFLOOR GUIDE(ADJUST RANGEmm) If the friction between the door and floor guide when opening /closing the door, remove the door, then loosen the fixing screws on the floor guide and adjust the position. Tighten screws after the positioning. FIXING JUMP PREVENTION NUT With spanner, tighten dual soft closer and upper roller jump protect nuts until they will contact to main unit. Push in cover cap between door and upper roller. Loosen Tighten 7

SUPPLEMENT How to remove door HOW TO REMOVE DOOR, RAIL Put a support of 0mm thickness under the door. Pull out the upper roller (main unit) from the casing, while pushing the lever on the upper roller. Pull out the door, while taking care of scratching with the door pocket. Pull out the upper roller on the trailing edge from the casing. Dual soft closer Pull out. Be careful so the door does not fall down. If you try to remove the without sliding the Pocket trigger into the, the trigger can become deformed. Hold the when removing the last screw. When sliding the Pocket trigger, use a screwdriver etc. Take care not to damage the rail when sliding the Pocket trigger with screwdriver which jumps out of the hole. Scratches on the running track may cause a noise of rollers during operation. 8

SUPPLEMENT HOW TO SHIFT THE CONNECTING POSITION OF THE RAILS. You may shift the connecting position towards Door pocket. In this case, you need to shift the position of the Pocket trigger as well. When determining trigger position on site () Put a mark on the with reference to the front end of the door at full opened position. (We recommend to put the mark on a masking tape.) () Drill additional holes for pocket trigger. Remove the door according to the procedure - Supplement : How to remove door, then remove the. Front end of the door Put a mark on the with reference to the front end of the door. Drill additional holes for Trigger on the. Determine the hole position by aligning the mark on the trigger and the mark on the rail which has been done by above procedure -(), while referring to below drawing. How to process holes for Pocket trigger in advance Fix it with screws. Example of with its length equal to the width of door pocket. Drill holes for Pocket trigger according to below drawing. When fixing, follow the right above figure, since the working sequence is different from regular process. Pull out Pocket trigger here Fix it with screws. And, confirm that all screws are used without mistake. 9

PERIODICAL INSPECTION Clean inside of rail. Check upper space and lower space of the door. If necessary, correct the space. TROUBLESHOOTING Trouble Check Point Solution Door stops during soft closing Check if door bottom contacts with floor. Confirm that rail fixing screws are not loosened. Then, adjust door height such that clearance between door bottom and floor becomes 0 mm. Check if trigger is installed. Install the trigger to correct position. No soft closing Check if door is closed with excessive force. Check if hook lock is used. Do not close the door with excessive force. It prevents suitable function causing trouble. Use normal operating force. Depending upon specification of hook lock, soft close cannot made sufficiently. Please contact us. Check if door contacts to other parts. Provide necessary space between door and adjacent objects. Abnormal noise during operation Check rail rollers for existence of dust or aluminum powder. Remove the rail and pull out the roller. Then, clean the roller. Check for loose screws retaining the upper rail. Tighten the screw. Heavy door operation Check if door contacts to other parts. Check if door is warped. Provide necessary space between door and adjacent objects. Use the door without warp. Door does not move. Check rail retaining screws for looseness. Tighten the screw. Door starts to move. Check the upper rail if it is set horizontally. Using a level gauge, reset upper rail horizontally. Door stops or caught during operation. Check if any gap or misalignment between the rails. Correct the misalignment or gap.
