In fact, every Filet-O-Fish served in the U.S. is made with MSC certified wild-caught Alaska pollock. Sustainable fishing is essential to keeping oceans healthy. McDonald s works with independent experts like the MSC and the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership to identify ways to protect long-term fish supplies and improve the health of marine ecosystems. To underscore our commitment, we ve created Reel It In!, the only card game in the sea that teaches the importance of sustainable fishing in a way that s sure to get you and your family hooked! How to make your own Reel It In! You can print the pages at home on standard paper, but for best results take them to any retail print shop. 1. Have the shop print on the color printer using heavy white cardstock (80-pound or higher). 2. Cut the cards out using a paper cutter. The more precise the better. 3. Start playing! How to Play Reel It In! Overview Reel It In! puts a cooperative spin on the classic card game Go Fish while also educating players about sustainable fishing practices. In the game, players must work together to collect sets of Fish Cards. However, if the players use the go fish option too many times, they may lose by drawing too many Cards from the supply. Set-up Before beginning the game, select a difficulty level. This will determine how many pairs of cards you must find to win the game by fishing sustainably. Easy Game = 10 pairs Medium Game = 12 Pairs Hard Game = 16 pairs Separate the Cards from the Fish Cards. These cards represent the commitment of MSC certified fisheries to fish sustainably in order to keep the oceans healthy. Shuffle the Fish Cards and deal 4 cards to each player. Lay down any pairs of 2 in the 4 cards you re dealt then draw back up to 4 cards each. Now shuffle the Cards into the remaining Fish Cards and spread the whole deck, face down, across the table to form an ocean. The youngest player goes first and players take turns in clockwise order around the table. Playing a Turn On your turn, pick one other player to ask if they have a match (two of the same color) to a specific card of yours. If they do, place the pair on the table face up and choose to go again or pass the turn to the next player. Example: if a player has a red fish in hand, they may ask any one player if they have the matching red fish. If they do not, you may draw your choice of 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 cards, one at a time, from the ocean on the table. Reveal each card drawn to your teammates before adding it to your hand. This collaboration helps the group take less from the ocean. For instance, sometimes taking 0 cards is helpful to fish more sustainably. After drawing cards, immediately place any new pairs on the table. If you draw a Card, you must reveal it and place on the table. If, at the start of your turn, you do not have any cards, draw 1 card from the ocean and then proceed with your turn as normal. If you draw a Card, reveal it and draw again. Ending the Game The game will end one of two ways: If the players reveal 8 Cards, they have not fished sustainably and the game is over. If the players collectively make the agreed number of pairs of Fish Cards based on the selected difficulty level before 8 Cards are revealed, everyone wins! Additionally, the player with the most pairs at this time is the individual winner.
