TAPTITE 2000 WHAT ARE TAPTITE 2000 FASTENERS?
WHAT ARE TAPTITE 2000 FASTENERS? TAPTITE 2000 thread rolling fasteners have enhanced TRILOBULAR cross section in the thread body and point section and a unique Radius Profile thread design
TAPTITE 2000 FASTENERS COMBINE 2 UNIQUE SHAPES Radius Profile thread design Enhanced dual lobulation TRILOBULAR technology
MACHINE SCREW THREAD RELATIVE TO RADIUS PROFILE THREAD Nut thread created by a TAPTITE 2000 fastener The Radius Profile thread of the TAPTITE 2000 fastener is designed to accept standard machine screw thread form Machine screws fit into internal threads created by a TAPTITE 2000 fastener
TAPTITE 2000 FASTENER (M6 & Larger) Point Lobulation Higher degree of lobulation on point Provides low thread forming torque
TAPTITE 2000 FASTENER BODY LOBULATION Moderate lobulation on body approaches full contact Provides efficient torquetension and resistance to vibrational loosening

TAPTITE 2000 BOLTS Sizes M6 (1/4-20) & Above 3 thread tapered lead 2 stabilizing threads Heat treatment: CORFLEX - I for steel applications or CORFLEX - N for aluminum & zinc applications
TAPTITE 2000 SCREWS Sizes M5 (12-24) & Below 4 thread tapered lead Case hardened for steel applications CORFLEX - N for zinc or aluminum applications
TAPTITE 2000 SP (Short Point) FASTENERS For Use In Aluminum & Zinc Die Castings Heat treatment: CORFLEX - N for aluminum and zinc applications.
TAPTITE 2000 CA SCREWS Sharp Point Cut Off Style Dull Point: Non-Cut Off Style
TAPTITE 2000 CA SCREWS Advantages: Align components Fit into eye-lidded holes Eliminate cross threading common with CA machine screws Disadvantages: Longer point length Fewer full body threads per screw length Not good for blind holes Cut-off points can injure workers/components
BENEFITS TAPTITE 2000 FASTENER PERFORMANCE BENEFITS
AXIAL ALIGNMENT The stabilizing threads of TAPTITE 2000 bolts provide easy entry into the pilot hole causing the bolt to stand up straight.
TAPTITE 2000 BOLT 6mm (1/4-20) & Above The stabilizing threads function as a threaded dog point sized just smaller than typical pilot holes to ensure good axial alignment and reduce the end load required to initiate thread forming. STABILIZING THREADS
TAPTITE 2000 FASTENERS SOLVE THESE TYPICAL PROBLEMS Dog Point or pilot point designs used to facilitate axial alignment STANDARD DOG POINT CAPTIVE DOG POINT A typical dog point is usually manufactured to a diameter equivalent to the screw thread root diameter. This design prevents nut thread damage when removing the screw. However, a dog point manufactured to root diameter is not effective in maintaining axial alignment. A plain dog point which has a diameter sized to the pilot hole will provide good axial alignment. However, once the internal thread is formed, the dog point is larger than the minor diameter of the internal thread. Removal of the screw will damage the internal thread.

TAPTITE 2000 FASTENER THREAD BODY DESIGN ATTRIBUTES AND FUNCTIONS ATTRIBUTE Optimum lobulation of body threads FUNCTION Efficient torque-tension relationships Enhanced resistance to vibrational loosening High pull-out resistance
TORQUE - TENSION The thread body lobulation and the Radius Profile thread design of TAPTITE 2000 fasteners provides torque - tension relationships similar to those that are achieved using machine screws
THE TRILOBULAR THREAD BODY Resists vibrational loosening Provides prevailing torque Allows deep thread engagements
RESISTANCE TO VIBRATIONAL LOOSENING TAPTITE 2000 fasteners, due to the reduced lobulation of the thread body, inherently resist vibrational loosening.

RESISTANCE TO AXIAL PULL OUT The reduced lobulation on the thread body of TAPTITE 2000 screws provides high axial pull out loads similar to that achieved using machine screws and bolts.
AXIAL PULL-OUT The theoretical stress area of TAPTITE 2000 screws and bolts is equal to or greater than the theoretical stress area of round bodied machine screws or bolts.
TAPTITE 2000 BOLT PERFORMANCE BENEFITS SUMMARY Maintains good axial alignment Requires less starting end load High assembly clamp load High axial pull-out resistance High resistance to vibrational loosening
