VerticalLine V100
The Machine Concept with a new Dimension Parallel kinematics increases efficiency and precision By using the V100, premachined blanks can be machined in even shorter times. Cut slugs, forged or pressed workpieces, cast or sintered parts or simply pre-machined parts are handled and machined swiftly and efficiently by the pick-up spindle. By using parallel kinematics, high accelerations and velocities are reached. Due to this, the non-productive workpiece and tool related idle times can be remarkably reduced. The Basic Design This is a completely thermallysymmetric design regarding the machine base, the stands of the feed slides, as well as the headstock. The glass scales for all feed axes guarantee highest turning precision. The rigidity of the bar kinematics is far higher than that of the traditional compound slide. This leads to remarkable improvement of surface quality and tolerances, especially when hard turning. Chilled, statically and dynamically most rigid motor spindles with high maximum speed ensure the optimal machining of smallest workpieces. Of course, the INDEX C200-4D control unit performs all essential interpolation tasks. The programmers work in their known X, Y and Z-axes. 2
The Efficiency of Short Distances Working in the plane has remarkable timing advantages. The tools, the turret additional attachments and the workpiece transfer are set up spaciously in the work area. The freely moveable pick-up spindle performs all movements with the workpiece, during processing and tool changing. Movements in all 3 dimensions simplify the workpiece transfer, making it a speedy and low cost procedure. Due to the construction principle of parallel kinematics the Y axis is part of the basic version of V100. INDEX V100 - Once again a decisive step ahead in speed and flexibility. Integration of Diverse Technologies Turning, milling, grinding, hard turning, laser hardening and welding or also joining and assembly are feasible using minimum room. This means that the V100 is unbeatable in flexibility and most economical for the series production of a whole range of workpieces. 3
The Flowing Movement of Workpieces: Unprecedented The flexibility of the pick-up spindle provides completely new possibilities for the handling of workpieces. The workpiece transfer can be handled very flexibly due to the machining area. For this reason you have a choice of a number of handling solutions in accordance with your requirements. No additional interfaces in the machine are required. Pallet Conveyor Belt The universal solution for small to medium series. Shuttle Through the Machine Shielded from the work area, the workpiece is shuttled through the machine on a trolley. A second trolley will take the workpiece outside after machining. This form of workpiece feed is offered especially when a number of machines are to be interlinked. Between the machines, a workpiece turn-around device can be employed. 4
The Side Shuttle The side shuttle is used for large workpieces as well as workpieces that have to be supplied and removed from one side. This is the ideal solution, if material needs to be supplied from the vibrating bunker and workpiece fixturing is necessary. The Pallet Solution The freely moveable spindle allows workpieces to be pikked up from a pallet in the work area and set down again. The short distances are time-saving. Pallets are changed manually or automatically. 5
Options for Custom Manufacture The freely accessible work area with a totally variable design is especially suitable for employing additional attachments allowing the integration of several technologies into a single machining process: High performance multispindle drill heads and polygon turning High frequency spindles Large driven milling and cutting heads Laser devices for hardening and welding Attachments for joining and assembly Grinding Units Due to the high rigidity, the V100 machine is exceptionally suitable for machining hardened materials. Various grinding spindles can be set up in the work area internal and external machining. Especially with a combination rough hard turning and finish grinding, the machining time for hardened workpieces is reduced significantly. The Block Type Turret Up to six tools each can be mounted on the opposite sides of the block type turret. By indexing the turret 180 degrees the entire set of tools can be changed. As long as machining is done with one set of tools, unnecessary time for tool changing is saved. The advantages of V100 plane machining are maintained with the turret. When employing driven tools the turret can be locked in steps of 5 degrees. This way, machining is always performed with straight toolholders. There is no need for elaborately driven angular toolholders. 6
