CIO Summit 2017 A companion issue to our CIO Summit events in Montreal and Vancouver, this issue contains articles and videos on the topics of artificial intelligence, cyber security, workplace management, and digital transformation. The edition will also examine the issues around STEM, breaking the glass ceiling in the channel and others.

Smart Cities An issue dedicated to the methods, tools, and strategies that municipalities use when designing and/or building their IT solutions and products, and the gains they have achieved with them. Mobility Just about every citizen now has a smartphone in their hand, so why not every employee that works for a municipality? This issue looks at deployment and management of devices, ways mobile technology is being utilized, and what products and solutions are being used for best of breed solutions. Going open source It used to be an accepted norm that municipalities designed their systems behind closed doors and controlled and restricted access to only those that required it. But as the digital age flourishes and more citizenry can make use of public data, there s a movement to adopt an open source approach at many municipalities across Canada. This issue explores stories from those that are doing so and the benefits and challenges of being open.
