INSTRUCTIONS for OPEN CLASS EXHIBITORS NO SMOKING ALLOWED IN BARNS OR BUILDINGS. 1. All entry blanks for the Open Class must be entered in advance, on or before the first Friday in August by 5:00 p.m. Check or money order for the total amount of all entry fees and season pass must accompany the entry blank. NO REFUNDS. Late entries or entries without the full payment will not be accepted. 2. Fair Board reserves the right to reject entries after the housing facilities for the livestock is filled. Late entries will be rejected first. 3. The Fair Board reserves the right to assign or alter space in buildings as deemed necessary. 4. All exhibits must be accompanied by the party or an agent of the party making the entry. Shipped-in exhibits will not be cared for by the Society. 5. The managing committee will take every precaution for the safekeeping of all stock or articles on exhibition, after their arrival and arrangement. 6. All exhibitors in the Educational 4-H Club and Junior Departments must purchase a ticket permitting them to exhibit. The Association will not be responsible for loss or damage that may occur. They desire exhibitors to give personal attention to the animals or articles and at the close of the Fair to attend to their removal. 7. Take your premium list, look it over carefully, and check such articles as you wish to take to the Fair. 8. List each entry as it is in the book, stating department number, division letter, class number and wording as stated. If the entry blank contained in this book is not sufficient, please make copies of the form. 9. When an entry is made the Fair Office will give the party an entry tag containing the department number and the class number which entry tag will be attached to the animal or article and remain until after the committee has made its awards. 10. No person except the Secretary and his assistants will be allowed to examine the entry books until after the awards are made. 11. Entry tags must be picked up at the Fair Office. Please examine your entry tags, they should correspond with the entry you have made and you have the right amount of entry tags. 12. ONLY ONE LIVESTOCK PARKING PASS per family will be issued for Departments 1 5. All Livestock Parking Permits will be distributed by the Fair Office. 13. Open Class entries close on the first Friday in August, 4-H Junior Class entries close the third Friday in June. Consult each Department heading for specific time entries must be in place. Judging will commence Wednesday of fair week, unless specified differently. 14. No entries excepting livestock to be removed before 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday following the close of the fair. No livestock to be removed until 4 p.m. Monday. All bills must be paid before leaving. 15. Entries may be made to the secretary. If the entry be livestock, give age, sex and department in which you wish to enter. In all cases give the full address and telephone number of the applicant. 16. Make all group entries. Only first prize winners are eligible to enter in championships or sweepstakes. It is not necessary to make championship or sweepstake entries. 17. All male animals one year or over competing in the department for purebred cattle, sheep and swine shall show certificates of registry in the government recognized studs, herds or flock books of their respective breeds, and all other purebred animals must be shown to be eligible in the registry books above specified. 18. No animal or article shall be allowed to be entered in more than one class, nor will any animal or article be awarded more than one premium except to make up collections, or when especially provided for in the premium list. 19. Exhibitors will confer a favor on the officers of the Association by making their entries as early as possible, so that the books may be in readiness for the judges. 20. Exhibitors in any department will report themselves to the superintendent of each department. 21. Persons entering stock to be exhibited in the ring will be expected to have it in readiness when called. The judges will be instructed not to wait more than (15) minutes after the call, and those not in readiness will be excluded. 22. All judges have been carefully selected. All persons making entries accept these judges and agree to abide by their decisions. 23. Protests on judging must be made out in writing on the same day in which such protested action is taken and given to the Superintendent of the department to which it applies, who shall at once deliver such protest to the President or Secretary of the Association, and it will be presented within a reasonable time to the proper Board of Committee for consideration and adjustment. Also on Tuesday, 8 am 12 Noon. 2. No autos permitted on concession midways after 9 am each day. Exhibits are to be released from the Arts & Crafts building between 3 pm and 6 pm on Tuesday after fair, unless Sold at the Art Auction. 3. NOTE: No prizes will be awarded to articles not mentioned in premium list. All articles entered in different classes MUST be work of exhibitor. 4. An article previously exhibited under a class number at this Fair may not be exhibited under that class number at this Fair again. 5. Work must have been completed within the last two years. 6. No professionals may exhibit in this department. 7. Each exhibitor must have a season pass. 8. No more than 1 entry per exhibitor under each class number. 9. ART AUCTION When: Saturday during the Fair Registration: 1:30 p.m. Where: Arts & Crafts/Photography Building Start Time of Auction: 2:00 p.m. All will have the opportunity to choose to have their painting or photograph auctioned off. Rules: You will need to register your exhibit at check-in if you do not want the option to be considered for the auction. Please invite your family, friends and business acquaintances to come to the auction. Gallery wrap is acceptable framing. a. Portraits: A pictorial representation of a person or persons showing his, her, or their faces. No animals as main subject matter. b. Paintings can be any size. c. Mixed Media entries must show the use of more than one media (example oil & pastel) Media used is to be listed on the entry tag. 4. All art entry titles the subject must be the major object of the exhibit. 5. No prizes awarded for articles not mentioned in premium list. 6. Name of exhibitor must not appear on exhibit. Put entry tag on upper right hand corner of exhibit. Tape or tie to backside and hang the tag over to the front. 7. No more than one entry under each class number per exhibitor in Arts and Crafts. 8. All framed pictures must be prepared for hanging with wire only; metal fasteners are unacceptable. We are not responsible for any damage due to improper display techniques; items may be disqualified. a. Matted pictures must have a permanent wire mount or a hole in the center of the mat for hanging on a peg board hook. The use of masking tape or duct tape is unacceptable. 9. Any work not in harmony or good taste with our family oriented county fair will be disqualified. 10. Any work entered with the wrong tag will be disqualified. 11. Take gears, repurposed implements, baling twine, duct tape & any other everyday things to create a new way to fry an egg, in 20 Steps or more. 2. Maximum size 7 x 7 x7 must be wheeled to facilitate moving around the Arts & Crafts building (included in the height) 3. For inspiration if necessary; google Rube Goldberg 4. Must be checked in by Noon on Tuesday before the fair 5. The Exhibitor must be present to demonstrate your entry 2 helpers will be allowed. Judging is on Thursday of the fair at Noon, arrive by 11:30 a.m. to check-in. 6. You can come in on Wednesday night of the fair from 7:00 9:00 p.m. to finish final assembly. Register at check- in if you will need this time. 7. Eggs will be provided the morning of judging 8. Provide approximate Cost of items purchased and total cost of exhibit. 9. If possible, be available several times during the fair to demonstrate your exhibit, check-in with Superintendent of Arts and Crafts.
