Halloween Tablescape by Spray Paint & Chardonnay, Katie Taylor Impress guests with a Halloween tablescape made with deep, dark tones! PROJECT TIME: HRS (dry time not included) Krylon COLORmaxx Paint + Primer Flat Black, Gloss Black Krylon Chalkboard Paint Black Empty glass wine bottles (labels removed) Spatula (for label removal) Black candle tapers Plate chargers Chalk 8 9 0 First, remove the labels from the empty wine bottles by letting them soak in warm, soapy water in the sink for about an hour. After soaking, the labels easily scrape off with either a fingernail or a spatula to help with the more stubborn labels. Once the labels are removed, wipe the bottles off to remove any excess tackiness from the label adhesive and let them dry outside, upside down. Once the wine bottles are clean and fully dry, set the bottles on a flat, covered surface in a well-ventilated area. Before spray painting, read the label for safety and application instructions. Spray the bottles with Krylon COLORmaxx Paint + Primer in Matte Black. Once the spray paint is completely dry, stagger them down the middle of a dining table on a table runner. Place black candle tapers in each bottle, firmly twisting the candle in the opening of the wine bottle to ensure that they do not fall over. Please note, spray-painted surfaces are not suitable for direct flame contact, so keep this in mind if lighting the candles. Next, it is time to paint the charger plates. Before painting, ensure the surfaces of the charger plates are clean, dull and dry. Lay the charger plates on a flat, covered surface in a well-ventilated area. Using Krylon Chalkboard Paint in Black, apply two to three thin coats to each charger and then let them dry. Although Krylon Chalkboard Paint is dry to the touch after minutes, allow the charger plates to dry hours before handling, and twenty four hours before first use. After hours of allowing Krylon Chalkbaord Paint to dry, rub the surface of the chargers with the side of a piece of chalk and then erase it before writing on the surface. To personalize the chargers for a dinner party, write Here Lies (Guest s Name) on the top of each charger in chalk, and R.I.P on the bottom. To make the letters look like bones, draw tiny hearts at the end of each letter, like a serif. Please note, food and drink should not come into direct contact with spray-painted surfaces. Please use a food-safe plate over the charger plates when serving food. Add any other desired Halloween details to your tablescape, such as mini-skulls, and enjoy!
