Manufactured from durable and corrosive resistant polyurethane, the RE-GRAB Safety Gate will not corrode or degrade even in aggressive chemical environments. They are self-extinguishing to UL94 and are of a strong construction to EN14122-3 & 4. The products are coloured throughout in high visibility safety yellow. The design of the RE-GRAB Safety Gate relies solely on gravity. There are no springs, cams or bearings, nothing to wear out, replace, lubricate or paint. These industrial safety gates come pre-assembled and are easily installed. The universal hinge allows the gate to be changed to a left or right swing easily on site by inverting the hinge during assembly.
Installation The safety gate can be mounted on a square tube post, channel or angle profile. Firstly 3 no holes are drilled into the guardrail (2 for the hinge and 1 for the support block) according to figure 1. Figure 1 The bar is then cut to size with a minimum overlay of 30 mm. To fix to round tube a special adaptor set is available consisting of 2 no galvanized angles and 3 no U bolts with fastening materials. An alternative is to weld the angle to the handrail post prior to manufacture. (see details on accessories below) Universal Hinge The universal hinge means that the direction the gate swings can be easily changed by withdrawing the pin and putting the hinge block upside down. Mounting the Hinge 1. Locate and drill 2 no holes Ø 18 mm for the hinge bolts see figure 1 2. Mount hinge and tighten nuts till bolt heads are flush +1/2 turn.
Mounting Support Lock 1. Locate and drill 1 hole Ø18 mm. for the block bolt, see figure 1. 2. Mount support block and tighten until bolt head is flush + ½ turn. Re-Grab Safety Gate Installation Ensure Blade extends enough to make contact with opposite side handrail post, overlap 40 mm. Support block is mounted below the top rail of gate to prevent vertical deflection. It should not interfere with the gate or keep it from swinging closed. Double bar gates are no more than 1070 mm above the platform surface to avoid too large of an opening below the gate. Application The Safety Gate can directly be mounted on a post made of square tubing, channels or angle profile. For mounting the Safety Gate onto round tubing you will need some adaptors as you can see onto the enclosed sketch. The adaptor-set available for 1-1/4 and 1-1/2 round pipe, resp. 42,3 mm and 48,3 mm. The adaptor-set exists of two galvanized angles and 3 U-bolts with fastening materials. The angles can be mounted on the posts with the U-bolts. We advise to mount the galvanized angles at the outer sides of the handrail posts as drawn on the sketch. After the adaptor-set has been mounted onto the posts, the safety gate and the support block can be mounted onto the angles. The adaptor-set provides a stable and rigid construction so that the safety gate also can be mounted onto round hand railing. It might be necessary to order additional length, because the angles are further away from each other. Most times this only means ordering the next larger size. When you plan to use an adaptor set, you should measure the size of the gate opening from the outside of both round tubing s. This is because the gate will actually be crossing that length. Generally you will be ordering the next larger size.
