Digital business transformation The digital shift towards Digital Society and Industry 4.0 is a strategic means for a company s survival, productivity and competitiveness. Eurecat develops applied R&D projects, implementing on cuttingedge equipment, materials and systems for a more efficient, productive, smart and competitive industry. 1 AUTONOMOUS & INDUSTRIAL ROBOTICS Additive manufacturing provides enormous advantages over traditional methods. It includes opportunities for placing manufacturing points close to the consumer, competitive manufacturing of short product series or reproducing any geometry imaginable to provide an immediate response to changing market needs. 3 PHOTONICS 10 TRENDS THAT WILL CHANGE THE FUTURE OF INDUSTRY Air and land vehicles, navigation and control, sensors and actuators, robotized cells and collaborative robotics, among others, to provide advanced solutions for automating different tasks in different environments. ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING / 3D PRINTING 2 Photonic biosensors for healthcare diagnostics, a laser for processing materials applied to macro and micro-processes, devices based on special optical fibres or sensors based on fibre optics Progress in nanotechnology opens up a wider span of advanced materials featuring awesome properties at lab scale. The next challenge is taking these properties to an industrial scale in order to provide pieces with unprecedented performances and be in a position of conceiving products with functionalities unheard of. 7 HORIZONTAL & VERTICAL INTEGRATION SYSTEMS This economic concept takes industry to a new pattern of using and optimizing stocks and material, energy and resource flows based on the use of the best technologies such as intelligent management systems, thus creating new products or services. ADVANCED & FUNCTIONALISED MATERIALS 6 To take true advantage of superintegration data, the use of powerful digital tools ranging from data science to knowledge engineering will be needed.
