Founded in 1998 and located in Ottawa, the capital city of Canada, Iridian is a world leader in optical filter solutions for a wide range of applications. Iridian s highly advanced, proprietary thinfilm design deposition and manufacturing technology delivers durable THE LEADER IN OPTICAL FILTER SOLUTIONS high performance optics for use in, point of care medical diagnostics, Raman and fluorescence spectroscopy, Mid IR applications such as gas sensors, as well as biophotonics and telecommunications and astronomy and space. Iridian also offers high performance optics for 3D eyewear and its own LaseReflect laser protection glasses. Iridian takes pride in tailoring solutions for custom and OEM requirements and also offers an extensive online catalogue of our standard products. Iridian supports customers throughout their product s development; from initial prototype to volume manufacturing in our automated high volume production facility in order to ensure that the most cost effective optical solutions are found.

SPECTROSCOPIC FILTERS Spectroscopic filters are employed in a number of different applications including biomedical, microscopy, endoscopy and sensors. Iridian Spectral Technologies offers both standard and custom filters. Like all Iridian sputtered filters, our filters use hard dielectric coatings, offering superior reliability and affordability. Band-pass Filters Iridian s band-pass filters feature greater than 90% transmittance in the pass band, narrow bandwidth as low as 2nm, and excellent blocking in the 300 nm to 1200 nm wavelength range. We also offer multiple band-pass filters in the UV-Vis-IR region. The filters can have 2, 3 or even 4 band regions to allow use of multiple excitation sources or emission bands. Notch Filters A combination of high transmittance (>90%) and deep blocking (OD>6) results in more signal with less background. Iridian offers both narrow (as low as 10nm at 50% width) and standard notch filters as well as multiple notch filters. Edge Filters Iridian offers both short and long pass edge filters with industry leading cut-off values 25-60 cm-1 from OD6 at the laser to the 50% point. Dichroic Filters Iridian offers both long pass and short pass dichroic edge filters. A dichroic filter is typically used at angle of incidence of 45 to reflect (transmit) excitation light to the sample and transmit (reflect) the emitted signal to the detector.

FLUORESCENCE SPECTROSCOPY Fluorescence spectroscopy is widely used in many biomedical applications including confocal microscopy, flow cytometry and endoscopy. Iridian s single band fluorescence band-pass filter sets have been optimized for use in a variety of fluorescence instruments. All our filters are thin-film, hard-coated filters for exceptional transmission performance and durability and offer excellent value. The fluorescence filter sets include CFP, CY3, CY5, CY5.5, DAPI, FITC, GFP, Texas Red and YFP filter sets. The filters in these sets are sized to be compatible with many microscopes including the Olympus AX, BX and IX series microscopes using cube P/N U-MF2 and Nikon microscopes E200, E400, E600, E800, E1000, TS100, TS100F, TE200, TE300, ME600L, L150A, and some other PHOTO Scopes using Quadrafluor cubes. As well, they fit Nikon microscopes TE2000, 50i, 55i, 80i, 90i, Eclipse Ti, and Epi-Fluor Illuminator Scopes with the TE2000 cube. Individual excitation, dichroic, and emission filters are also available.

Iridian has manufactured millions of pairs of re-usable 3D color band glasses for both lamp and laser based 3D cinema. Iridian s 3D glasses consist of two separate multi-band filters each providing a different red, green, and blue spectrum to the viewer s left and right eye. The glasses are extremely durable, scratch-resistant and can be dishwasher cleaned to allow many hundreds of uses making them economically advantageous on a per use basis compared with other disposable 3D glasses technologies. 3D GLASSES Iridian has manufactured thousands of 3D projection filter wheels that use the 3D FILTER WHEELS same color banding as the glasses. The filter wheels have two halves each coated with the bands that correspond to those transmitted by the left and right lenses of the 3D glasses.

TELECOM FILTERS Telecom filters are important components in today s fiber optical communication networks. Iridian s telecom filters are used throughout the world in optical networks for wavelength multiplexing and de-multiplexing; dispersion compensation; laser source stablization and optical gain amplification flattening to name but a few telecom applications. Iridian offers high quality telecom filters at competitive prices to meet the ever increasing wireless and fiberto-the-home traffic demand.

OPTICAL FILTERS OPEN UP NEW USES FOR MWIR, LWIR SYSTEMS The ability to image invisible features such as thermal profiles, gases, and other environmental constituents in a commercially viable manner has begun to open up new application areas for M/LWIR sensor systems. Iridian s optical filter technology has helped open this new wavelength window. Iridian s new MLWIR BPF capabilities provide narrow, high transmission band-pass filters from 2-10 μm to detect the presence and concentration of gases of interest in environmental or process analysis applications such as: CH 4, CO, CO 2, H 2 O, O 3 among others. The future for photonics imaging is bright in this previously dark wavelength regime.

YOUR Laserpointer DEFENSE Iridian offers LaseReflect Aviator glasses with a choice of impact resistant polycarbonate lenses or glass lenses for improved optical performance. Pilots often come under attack by commonly available green laser pointers. The glare associated with these attacks can cause dangerous distraction or, in some instances, temporary blindness. A report by the FAA showed the number of incidents in 2012 was 3,842. The great majority of strikes come from green (532 nm) lasers. Leveraging our industry-leading optical coating technologies, Iridian Spectral Technologies now offers our Laser Reflection Glasses, LaseReflect, to address these needs. Our multi-layer dielectric thin-film solutions provide high transmittance with deep, narrow blocking to maximize laser reflection while minimizing the impact on light levels and colour discrimination for the remainder of the visible spectral region.

MULTIZONE FILTERS ASSEMBLIES The ability to offer spatially varying spectral performance on a single substrate can have many advantages for optical designers. Iridian s MZF technology has been deployed in applications such as: Multi-spectral imaging: Remote sensing (environmental analysis, space, defense and security) Multi-zone filter wheels: 3D cinema projection ( right-eye and left-eye images) Order sorting for spectrometers or CCDs Iridian s multi-zone filter assemblies address needs in multi-spectral imaging applications requiring many bands, complex filter coatings, or with constraints on cost. In this approach coatings are deposited on separate substrates that are attached together using robust assembly methods. These assemblies can achieve zone-to-zone transitions of < 100 μm and have been manufactured with as many as ten different spectral bands. The image directly below shows a MZF with ten band-pass filters between 3μm and 13 μm developed under a subcontract from ABB Canada for the Space Technology Development Program of the Canadian Space Agency. For applications requiring a small transition zone or patterns not possible to achieve by assembly, Iridian s patterned multi-zone filters are the perfect choice. Iridian s in-house photo-lithography lab is housed a Class 1000 clean room capable of patterning up to 150 mm diameter wafers. Multi-step patterning can be performed creating MZF s with as many as five different zones and zone-to-zone transitions of as little as 20 µm. PATTERNING

SURFACE ENHANCEMENT COATINGS Driven by the proliferation of touch-screen technology Iridian has developed the capability to deposit anti-smudge and antireflection surface enhancement coatings on areas up to 250 mm x 350 mm. ANTI-SMUDGE COATINGS: These oleophobic and hydrophobic coatings provide easy cleaning and smudge resistance from water and environmental oils such as fingerprints, food, and many consumer products. Key performance parameters include high contact angle (>100 ) and high durability (>6H hardness; >8000 steel wool rubs). ANTI-REFLECTION COATINGS: Suppress surface reflections reducing glare in high brightness conditions. With an AR coating on the glass surface, the reflectance from the glass surface can drop more than 70%, from around 4% to less than 1% over the visible spectrum.
