Press Information Zone Overview Canon EXPO Paris 2015 Introduction This document provides an outline of each of the zones you will experience at Canon EXPO Paris 2015. On display in each zone is a range of scenarios that demonstrate how Canon s imaging technologies are enhancing and transforming the lives of businesses and consumers today, as well as concept technologies that will shape the world of imaging tomorrow and in the future. For further information on the key technology throughout all zones, please refer to the separate accompanying Canon EXPO Technology Highlights document. ZONE: LIFE Overview: In the Life Zone, you will see scenarios that show how Canon s connected products and cloud solutions will play central roles in an ever-expanding imaging ecosystem. 1. New Perspectives: See how Canon is using new technologies and solutions to bring a new perspective to the latest consumer image capturing, selecting, storing and sharing. Through how it is taking the imaging ecosystem to the next level utilising our connected products and cloud solutions. 2. Home of the Future: Here you will see how your photos and videos can be tagged, stored and displayed so you can relive your favourite memories and be inspired to create more. This includes technologies that enable you to review, edit and display your pictures, as well as easily store and organise your images in the cloud. 3. World Image Galleries: With Canon s innovations, you ll be able to experience photos and videos of exceptional detail. Life doesn t wait for the right light so you can capture special moments. Camera technology that allows you to take great photos whenever they happen will be on display. You ll also see how to achieve Ultra High-Definition prints for when you want to share your favourite moments with others, as well as how to transform videos into truly cinematic experiences. 4. My City: Here you will see how Canon takes imaging for creativity and pure pleasure to the next level. Experience the breadth of Canon lens technologies, how they improve everyday photography, and the connected media platforms from which users can share their images with the public. 1

ZONE: PROFESSIONAL At the Professional Zone you will see how Canon can help businesses transform imaging and printing technology into customer opportunity through a combination of input and output technology. The scenarios in this zone demonstrate how this applies specifically across marketing, broadcast and printing industries. 5. Bicycle Launch: this demonstration shows the range of technologies and solutions Canon can provide to the creative industries that support agencies and marketing businesses in delivering consistent creative image excellence. 6. EXPO Daily News & EXPO TV: see how Canon can help a media business deliver quality and consistently relevant news in a variety of media through the latest in image excellence technologies and solutions 7. Making Movies: Canon is bringing feature film opportunities to small film productions with the Digital Cinema Solution application on display. See how this innovative technology can achieve feature film production quality and transform the way filmmakers and production crew collaborate on set. 8. Print Service Provider: Canon shows how it s setting a new standard in printing, providing dynamic and agile technologies to improve the productivity of businesses. Retail: Using technology and imaging solutions can improve the retail experience at every interaction. Canon s innovations in imaging solutions and technologies on display bring interactivity to the retail industry and improve the experience for everyone involved. See how customers can increasingly personalise their shopping experiences, Point of Sale messaging can adapt according to staff and customer needs, and collaboration across the company and with external parties can happen in real time from any location. 12. Global Services: See how Canon offers customers a world of connected global services led through Managed Print Services (MPS). These services extend to areas both globally and locally, providing scalability solutions and end-to-end management. Canon s MPS are designed to enhance business processes for the effective capture, management and distribution of information, through the global provision of superb services and innovative technology. 3

ZONE: SOCIETY See first-hand in the Society Zone how Canon s innovations in imaging technology are changing the way the world views healthcare. In this zone you ll also see the future of Canon security technologies, as well as education and sustainability. 13. Metropolis: Canon shows how improving safety is a key aim of a new suite of security technologies. See Canon and its partners pioneering technologies which work in a variety of challenging conditions, as well as broadening the application of this technology to enhance public safety and identify risks. 14. Campus: See how Canon is transforming education, from back-office processes to the student learning experience. On display is Canon s vision for the education sector: one in which back-office processes are streamlined and the student experience enriched with innovative ways of learning. You ll also see how by using portable systems, learning will be liberated from the traditional classroom, and group learning and collaboration will be easily facilitated through innovations in Canon s portfolio. 15. Best of Health: On display here are Canon s innovations in imaging technology and equipment that aim to enhance people s lives through more accurate diagnosis and better communication with medical professionals. You will also see Canon s development in mammography technologies to make diagnosis easier, as well as ophthalmic technology that enable diagnosis of eye conditions to happen more quickly and accurately. Canon s innovation in digital radiography is also on display, demonstrating advancements in X-ray and 3D imaging to support medical professionals with making faster and better diagnosis. 4

16. Our Commitment: Canon enables improved sustainability performance for our customers and ourselves. Some of the key initiatives you will learn about here include: Tsuzuri Project (Cultural Heritage Inheritance Project) this project is aimed at preserving original cultural assets while maximising the effective use of highresolution facsimiles, and passing precious cultural assets on to future generations Project Miraisha in Emerging Markets, Canon is helping local people to establish careers in photography and print. Since December 2014, Canon has facilitated three workshops in Kenya led by world renowned photojournalist and Canon Master Gary Knight Canon Institute for Global Studies established in 2008 to commemorate Canon s 70th anniversary, this Institute focuses on a wide range of research areas, such as macroeconomics, natural resources and the environment, to benefit society around the world Canon Foundation provides support for academic research in technology and science through two research programmes: Pursuit of Ideals and Creation of an Industrial Foundation Circular Economy Canon is committed to sustainability and has been embracing the circular economy for over 25 years. Through our reuse and recycling activities, we have set a high standard that we have implemented globally Project Home 2025 Canon has supported research into Home2025, a project organised with The Climate Group. The study looks into the potential carbon reduction possible at the level of the home through more mobile and home working patterns, which reduce the need for office space and commuting 5
