This guide explains the basic operation of this device. Installation DO NOT TURN ON THE BUTTKICKER POWER AMPLIFIER BKA-130-C UNTIL ALL CONNECTIONS HAVE BEEN MADE CORRECTLY. TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER, GAMING SYSTEM, OR ANY AUDIO DEVICE BEFORE MAKING ANY CONNECTIONS. Please refer to the enclosed Quick Start Guide for detailed installation information. Refer to the Owner s Manual included with the ButtKicker Power Amplifier BKA-130-C for amplifier operation information. Placement The ButtKicker Gamer will clamp onto your center post chair with the quick release cable attaching to the ButtKicker Power Amplifier. The amplifier should be placed within reach of the cable and should also be accessible to the user. CAUTION: The cable will run between the ButtKicker Gamer equipped chair and the ButtKicker Power Amplifier. [Taping or use of special cable troughs available through stereo, appliance and computer stores may assist in covering the Gamer cable to help prevent tripping or inadvertent disconnects.] 02

PC Audio Signal Connection The ButtKicker Gamer is designed to work with low frequency audio signals. With a 5.1 / 7.1 sound card, use the mini Y adaptor to split the audio signal from the center / sub output (refer to your soundcard s manual to locate this output). With a stereo soundcard use the mini Y adaptor to split the audio signal from the stereo (line out) output. Please refer to the enclosed Quick Start Guide for further installation information. Software and Hardware Volume Controls for PC SOFTWARE VOLUME CONTROLS IN MICROSOFT WINDOWS 1. Click Start on your taskbar, go to Programs 2. Choose Accessories 3. Windows 95: Choose Multimedia Windows 98/2000/XP: Choose Entertainment 4. Click on the Volume Control 5. Adjust the Wave, CD and Main volume control to 75% 6. Click on the Advanced Tab under the Volume Control and adjust the Bass setting to 50% or greater VOLUME CONTROL SOFTWARE PROGRAMS Some soundcard manufacturers may have software that must be adjusted separately from the operating system volume control. Consult applicable manual for specific hardware documentation. Many of these programs include control of the bass or subwoofer output. Increasing the level of the bass or subwoofer output on the soundcard or surround sound receiver will also increase the signal strength received by the ButtKicker Power Amplifier and will increase the intensity of the ButtKicker Gamer s output. SYSTEM BALANCE It is important to adjust and balance the level of the subwoofer volume and intensity of the ButtKicker Gamer with the rest of the system. The subwoofer output level control (if this exists on your computer) and the main volume control should be used in conjunction with the audio speaker and ButtKicker Power Amplifier volume controls to balance the entire system. 03

Console Gaming Systems The ButtKicker Gamer can be hooked up to most gaming consoles.the best source of signal for the ButtKicker is the subwoofer or.1 track of a Dolby Digital, DTS, or Multi-Channel Direct system. Most of today s consoles offer a.1 channel output through the use an additional adaptor or cable and a surround sound receiver. With these systems, the ButtKicker Gamer should be hooked up through the subwoofer output of the surround sound receiver. Please refer to the enclosed Quick Start Guide for detailed installation information. Hooking up the ButtKicker Power Amplifier to an Auxiliary Audio Device The ButtKicker Gamer is not limited to use with computers or console gaming systems. It can be used with any device that has an audio signal output. These devices include digital music players, CD players, bookshelf audio systems or even record players. It is important to remember that the ButtKicker Gamer will only respond to the low frequency material that is sent to it. This may not be as strong in some devices as it is in others. 1. Find the line level or headphone audio output for the device. This may be an RCA, mini or a different style of connector. 2. Connect the audio output to the amplifier line level input (RCA). This may require additional adaptors if the output is not RCA or mini. 3. Use either a mini or RCA Y adaptor into this line if additional connections need to be made. 04

Operating the ButtKicker Power Amplifier BKA-130-C Please consult the BKA-130-C Owner s Manual for operating instructions. Fine-Tuning Amplifier Adjustments: High and Low Cutoff Filters The Low Filter Cutoff is designed to significantly reduce (12 db per octave roll off) the extremely low frequencies, those below 25 Hz. This is the subsonic range, below the frequencies that we can hear with our ears. In movies and games, this is usually where large explosions will shake you. However, often in music, this is a dead zone mostly filled with noise. Switching the Low Filter Cutoff switch on will lower the intensity of these low frequency vibrations. The High Cutoff Filter is designed to reduce and eliminate the frequencies in the upper range of the ButtKicker Gamer s response. This can be used to put a ceiling on the frequency response of the ButtKicker Gamer to help eliminate unwanted buzzing and the occasional human voice that may be transferred in the upper frequency range of the ButtKicker Gamer. To eliminate unwanted effects, turn on the High Cutoff Filter and starting from the highest frequency, turn the High Cutoff Frequency knob down until you achieve the desired effect. When active, lowering the High Cutoff Frequency can also help to reduce the response to in-game music without significantly reducing the low end effects. General Filter Guidelines Media Low Cutoff Switch High Cutoff Switch High Cutoff Freq. Knob Games on on 40 Hz Music on off disabled by the high cut switch Movies off on 80 Hz * Adjust the volume knob so that the ButtKicker Gamer meets your intensity preference. 05

STOP! If you have questions or need technical support, please contact The Guitammer Company, not the store where you purchased the product. The Guitammer Company Inc. 1-888-676-2828 8:30 AM 5:30 PM EST FAQ s Email us at: support@guitammer.com Visit us on the web at: www.thebuttkicker.com Q. Everything is hooked up but I m not getting any output from the ButtKicker Gamer? A. Here are a few things to check. Make sure that: - The ButtKicker Power Amplifier is plugged in and turned on - All connections are firmly connected - Any audio software is properly installed and functioning - Sound is not muted and volume is turned up Q. What can I do about computer monitor interference? A. Increase the distance between the monitor and the ButtKicker Power Amplifier. Q. How should I set the switches and knobs on the front of the ButtKicker Power Amplifier? A. The following are general guidelines: Media Low Cutoff Switch High Cutoff Switch High Cutoff Freq. Knob Games on on 40 Hz Music on off disabled by the high cut switch Movies off on 80 Hz * Adjust the volume knob so that the ButtKicker Gamer meets your intensity preference. Q. I get a lot of extra shaking even when there isn t any action in the game or movie. How can I get rid of this? A. The ButtKicker is reacting to bass in the soundtrack. Turn on the high cut switch and dial the high cut knob down to a lower frequency. The extra shaking may be also be eliminated by turning off the background music from the in-game settings menu. Q. MY CHAIR RATTLES!?! How can I fix this problem? A. The part that most often rattles is the lever that controls the pneumatic lift cylinder and/or tilt control. The rattle can be eliminated by jamming foam under the lever or by hanging a bean bag on the handle. Q. What happens to the cables when I twist around in my seat? A. There is a strain relief already attached to the ButtKicker Gamer cable which will allow you to spin around without immediately putting strain on the cable. Should the cable get wrapped around the center post more than just a few times, spin the chair back the other way until the cable is no longer twisted. Q. At times I use my chair away from my desk, how can I do that with the cable attached? A. The quick release on the ButtKicker Gamer cable allows the cable to easily disconnect at the base of the chair without having to remove the ButtKicker Gamer from your chair. Q. I hear a knocking or banging noise coming from the ButtKicker Gamer? A. That is the internal piston of the ButtKicker Gamer hitting the inside of the housing. Although this will not immediately harm the unit, you should turn the volume down (lower) on the ButtKicker Power Amplifier to avoid this over driving of the ButtKicker Gamer. For more information, refer to the Quick Start Guide included. Visit www.thebuttkicker.com for more FAQ s and details on other ButtKicker products and accessories.
