We want you to be involved in Clerkenwell Christmas Market Friday 3 December 2010 4-8pm St John Ambulance has once again been given the exciting opportunity of hosting a Christmas market in the central walkway of the historical Smithfield market, in Clerkenwell. It is a great opportunity to bring together the local community of businesses, workers and residents - and we want you to be involved! For more information about the history of, and other details about, Smithfield market, please visit: cityoflondon.gov.uk/smithfield To apply for a stall please see the application form attached to this document.

About the Christmas Market The management at Smithfield market has, for a second year, generously invited our charity to use the prime, undercover walk-through area for this one day event, taking place between the hours of 4pm and 8pm. As a local charity based a stones throw from Smithfield, in St. John s Lane, we are really happy to have this opportunity and would like to invite you to take part in this seasonal event. As well as our charity fundraising stand, Clerkenwell Christmas Market will include lots of stalls selling local produce, food, drinks and stocking fillers. There will also be carol singing, games, a raffle and other fun activities. We feel the event is a great opportunity for us to work together with you and other local businesses to build a sense of community spirit and to have some seasonal fun! As well as giving you an opportunity to meet people and businesses from your area, the event will provide a fantastic opportunity to sell your products or produce. The stalls will have a prime location within Smithfield Market, at a very busy and lucrative time of year. Key target audiences will include local workers (particularly at lunch time and after work), customers of local restaurants and bars, market customers, local residents and St John Ambulance supporters and volunteers. Become a stallholder The cost of purchasing a stall at the Clerkenwell Christmas Market is 50, which guarantees you a space for the day. In conjunction with this we ask for 10% of your net takings at the market. We would also graciously welcome you to donate a prize for the raffle. You can choose to bring your own table and chair on the day, or, for a small fee, we can provide these for you. We are also hoping to provide you with tea and coffee donated by a local supplier, and there will be toilet facilities at a nearby venue. Benefits for stallholders An opportunity to engage with your immediate local community and reach new customers A very reasonably priced stall in a busy market thoroughfare in Central London on a prime Christmas shopping day An opportunity to work with a highly respected national charity Fulfil your corporate and social responsibility objectives

An opportunity to engage with our charity supporters and volunteers Your company name will be included on event literature and our national website We will take every opportunity to publicly thank and acknowledge the involvement of businesses in the event Opportunity for a continued, developing relationship with St John Ambulance, based locally in Clerkenwell. Marketing and PR This event will be actively marketed in the coming months in the lead up to the event, to generate maximum exposure. Planned marketing activities to include: Past supporters who have attended other special and challenge events previously will be sent information on the event and those that have already expressed interest in the event A widespread promotional email to all St John Ambulance supporters in London and the surrounding area, in excess of 20,000 people Advertising of the event at Smithfield Market, through posters and leaflets, in the run up to the event A dedicated webpage as well as news articles on the national St John Ambulance home page Promotional posters at libraries, work places and local shops and restaurants Promotional mailing to local schools Targeting of community groups and local workplaces Our experienced in-house PR department will release information of this unique event to the press with potential to gain some great coverage both before and after the event. Local press will also be approached. About us Nothing is more tragic than a life lost needlessly. Every year, up to 150,000 people die in situations where first aid could have given them a chance to live. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid so that they can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved. Some become our volunteers, providing first aid at events and in their community, or supporting their local ambulance service. St John Ambulance has been a part of the Clerkenwell community for over 900 years. As a local organisation, we are keen to make a positive impact in our immediate community, and offer local businesses the opportunity to support St John Ambulance, your local charity. St John Ambulance does not receive any government funding and we depend on voluntary support from individuals and companies to carry out our life saving work Please visit sja.org.uk for more information about our life saving work and to find out how you can be the difference between life and death.

The Christmas Market team Rosie Myres and Helen Collins will be your key points of contact in the run up to, and on the day of, the event. Rosie works on the management and coordination of social and special fundraising events, raising money for St John Ambulance National Headquarters, and Helen coordinates community fundraising, and we are both more than happy to help you with any queries you may have. Get in touch I hope you find this proposal of interest. To find out more about the Clerkenwell Christmas Market, please do not hesitate to contact us.
