CAA SOUTH CENTRAL ONTARIO ELECTION OF DIRECTORS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF MEMBERS MAY 2, 2013 In accordance with CAA South Central Ontario By-law Number 1-2013, a list of qualified Members sufficient in number to maintain a full Board is submitted by the Board of Directors to the Annual General Meeting on the nomination of the Governance/Nominating Committee. The following six Members will be nominated for approval at the AGM on May 2, 2013 as Directors, for a term of three years each, or until they retire in accordance with Schedule A attached to By-law Number 1-2013, or until their successors are duly elected or appointed: Janet Lafortune, B.A., AICB, C.DIR A member of the CAA South Central Ontario Board of Directors since 2009, Janet Lafortune is a partner in Lafortune & Associates, located in Peterborough, Ontario, consulting in the areas of marketing and strategic planning. Ms. Lafortune s career highlights include 21 years with Quaker Oats Company of Canada where she held positions including Vice President Marketing, Director Information Services, and Manufacturing Services Manager. Janet previously held progressive management positions with CIBC. She is past Board Chair, Peterborough Utilities Inc., and was formerly a director of City of Peterborough Holdings Co Inc. Janet is also a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors, having completed the Director Education program through The Directors College of University of McMaster s DeGroote School of Business. An active volunteer, Ms. Lafortune currently sits on the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees of Lakefield College School. Past directorships include United Way of Canada Centraide Canada, Showplace Peterborough Performance Centre, Performers for Literacy (Toronto), and Hospice Peterborough. Susan Waywell, B.Com., C.A. A member of CAA South Central Ontario s Board of Directors since 2003, Susan is a Partner at Collins Blay LLP, Chartered Accountants in Kingston. Her past professional highlights include the following: Member of the Audit Committee of Queen s University. Treasurer of the Community Foundation of Greater Kingston and member of the Investment Committee. Chair Accounting Division United Way Campaign, President of the Board of Directors of the Estate Planning Council of Eastern Ontario, President of the Queen s Business Club, Kingston Branch, Director of Kingston and District Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Membership Committee, Member of the Finance Committee, Treasurer of Church Athletic League of Kingston, Vice-Chair and Treasurer of the Stanton Yellowknife Hospital Board. Anthony Salerno, B.A., MA, MBA A member of CAA South Central Ontario s Board of Directors since 2010, Anthony Salerno, is President of Integrity Works Inc. Mr. Salerno s extensive career in the public sector includes a number of senior positions with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Finance including CEO of the Ontario Financing Authority. In the private sector, he was Managing Director of Government Investment Banking at BMO Nesbitt Burns and has also served on a number of Boards in both the private and public sectors. Currently, Tony serves on the Social Responsibility and Government Relations Committee as well as the Governance and Nominating Committee of CAA South Central Ontario s Reta Coburn, MBA Reta Coburn was appointed President of FNF Canada in 2009 overseeing all aspects of the Canadian operation. Reta has spent most of her career in the title insurance industry in Canada. She joined the Fidelity family in 2005 in a general management capacity as Senior Vice President for Chicago Title Insurance Company s Canadian operation, leading their growth strategy and objectives, providing support on the operational structure and defining the organizational design. Prior to this, she spent 7 years as Vice President, Canada Branch for Stewart Title Guaranty Company, providing similar general management oversight and direction to this company. She also simultaneously held the appointments of Chief Agent, Senior Vice President of Stewart International and Managing Director of Lawyer s Mortgage Network. Previous roles in the industry included Operations Manager, Client Service Manager and Training & Development Coordinator. Reta holds a Master of Business Administration graduate degree from University of Toronto s Rotman School of Business and a Management Studies diploma from McMaster University. Reta is a past member and board of director of the Title Insurance Industry Association of Canada, having held the role of Vice President and is currently a member of the Canadian Accredited Association of Mortgage Professionals and Canadian Professional Sales Association. She is an active volunteer with Canadian Youth Business Foundation.
Brigid V. Pelino, HBA, MIR Brigid V. Pelino was appointed Executive Vice President, Human Resources at Tim Hortons in August 2012. Ms. Pelino joined Tim Hortons in 2001 as Vice President, Human Resources, with responsibility for all aspects of Human Resources strategy for both Canada and the United States and was promoted to Senior Vice President, Human Resources in March 2008. Prior to joining the Company, Ms. Pelino worked in senior level Human Resource positions for Canadian Tire Corporation, Honeywell International and General Electric. Ms. Pelino holds a Honours Bachelor of Economics and Accounting Degree and a Masters Degree in Industrial Relations, both from the University of Toronto. Mahes S. Wickramasinghe, CA (Sri Lanka), FCMA (UK), CPA (USA) Mahes began his career as a Chartered Accountant in his homeland, Sri Lanka. Over the next decade he continued to hone his skills in industry, serving in key roles in Sri Lanka, Jamaica and Bermuda. In 1989 he moved to Canada as a member of the Audit Practice of Arthur Andersen in Toronto where he was admitted to the partnership in 1994. He joined CIBC in 1995 and moved to London, UK as Head of Audit for Europe and Asia as part of the CIBC World Markets team. In 1998, he moved back to Toronto as Vice President and Chief Security Officer of CIBC where he was instrumental in creating new processes to govern the bank s exposure to fraud and external attacks and to focus on asset recovery. In 2001 he was appointed as Senior Vice-President and Chief Administrative Officer, CIBC Retail and Small Business Banking. He was then appointed Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of Amicus Financial Group of CIBC.
In 2003 he joined BCE as Senior Vice President and Head of Audit and Risk Management and was later appointed as Senior Vice President, Corporate Performance. In 2006, he was appointed Executive Vice President Bell Aliant. In 2008 he rejoined CIBC as Chief Administrative Officer of CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank based in Barbados. He joined Rogers Communications Inc. in 2012 as Senior Vice President Corporate Finance. Mahes is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK.
