The PRODUTECH the Production Technologies Cluster, is an articulated network of Production Technology stakeholders addressing the manufacturing industry s competitiveness and sustainability challenges by the development and provision of innovative, flexible, integrated and competitive production technology solutions. > + 100 members, 75% companies both providing competitive solutions to the needs of over 60 activity sectors and representing user sectors; > A Strategic Agenda and Multi-Annual Action Programme, covering Cooperation, Intelligence, Internacionalization and R&D+I domains; > Complementary and aligned with relevant European initiatives) PRODUTECH is officially recognized by the Portuguese Government, as the entity responsible for promoting the development, innovation and competitiveness of Production Technologies Cluster. 2

PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGIES INDUSTRY Context Portugal has a diversified MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY, with COMPETITIVE AND INNOVATIVE COMPANIES, both national and international, and a comprehensive network of clusters supporting entities, which creates an attractive eco-system for PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGIES development, test, validation and demonstration.. 4

Digitalization of the Economy An enduring transformation process presents a paradigm shift on how we (inter) act and communicate, the way we develop, productize, manufacture, market, consume (and re-utilize) products and services, and to the way society, economies, value chains and stakeholders organize themselves, ; presenting new challenges and opportunities, ; requiring the implementation of coordinated, integrative and strategic approaches. 5

Means to an End: VANGUARD PILOTS 3D Printing & ESM [Some examples from PRODUTECH Cluster] Leveraging Norte Region stakeholders participation in VANGUARD Pilots: Objective: accelerate market uptake of 3DP applications in the EU through development of industry-led, transregional demonstration platforms. Objective: create a network of demo sites and pilot lines at regional level that will enable manufacturing companies in different sectors, including SMEs, to develop and introduce highly efficient and sustainable processes, technologies, systems and methods. 12
