This is a busy community with a lot of stores. One store sells and sharpens scissors. Many other stores need sharp scissors, so they come to this store. Scissors are used to help produce many different goods and services. 2 Barbers Use Scissors Barbers use scissors to produce services. Barbers need sharp scissors to do their job. The scissor sharpening store also sells electric clipper blades to barbers. Customers come in and buy haircuts from the barbers. That is how barbers earn their income. 3

Tailors use scissors to produce goods. Tailors make jackets, dresses, and other clothing for customers. The clothes will fit just right! Tailors also use scissors to produce services. When customers buy clothes at stores, they sometimes need to have the clothes fixed. Tailors shorten pants, widen the waists on skirts, and make dresses fit. 4 Tailors Use Scissors Tailors need scissors to make their goods and services. Tailors need sharp scissors to cut fabric. There are many different types of scissors. There are long scissors, short scissors, scissors that cut in a zigzag, and tiny scissors for cutting thread. All of them need to be extra sharp for the tailor to do a good job. 5

Florists Use Scissors Florists use scissors to provide goods for customers. Florists need sharp scissors to cut and trim flower stems for arrangements and bouquets. They also use scissors to cut ribbons and paper for wrapping flowers as gifts. The florists use the scissor sharpening store s services to help produce their goods. 6 The scissor sharpening store provides important goods and services for the community. This service provides an income for many shops. All the shops work together because they need each other s services. 7
