STEP TWO Choose a Proper Subtitle Tell your audience exactly what your book is meant to communicate. Be direct. Use only one powerful sentence if possible and try to incorporate strong search keywords into your subtitle. Be sure not to duplicate your main titles communications efforts, saying the same thing twice. Research other best selling authors books subtitles to get a feel for how the subtitle flows behind the main title. On occasion you may not need a subtitle but in most cases it will prove a powerful tool for readers to find your book. STEP THREE The Author Bio Keep your bio simple. Write out multiple short bios including a power bio showcasing your strengths, a personal revealing bio, and a full complete biography telling your life story. Each bio can be used as a stand alone marketing tool when combined with a great photograph, article, or your book. The back cover of your book should contain a brief bio introducing yourself and your story may be weaved into the content of your book. Get a professional photographer to provide you with at least one great professional looking headshot photograph. Be sure the photo is very clear and speaks to who you are at the core. STEP FOUR Your Book Cover Your book cover may very well be the most important element of your books branding strategy. People often say that you don't judge a book by its cover, but that is exactly what we do. Every time we first judge a book it is on its cover. Outsource this function to a professional. If you are strapped for cash like many authors are you can use photo stock pictures and hire a designer of Fiverr.com. The outer shell of your book consists of a front cover, a back cover, and a spine. Each element of the outer shell of your book plays an important role. A good book cover designer will use each stand alone element as a communications tool to market your book. STEP FIVE The Book Itself Your book will open up doors for you that you never knew where there for you to walk through.
