Energy eicient family of spindles Feed package formats Assembly-wound feed packages measuring 6", 7" or 8" and also single-end feed packages measuring 2 x 3¼" and 2 x 4" winding traverse can be used in the normal-height machine. 10" feeds and dierent 2 x 6" feeds can be used on the lowered version. The Two-for-One spindle is the heart of the machine. The energy required and the quality of the twisted yarn produced are determined here. The energy saving family of spindles includes the spindle type series VTS-07 / -08 / -09 / -10 with optimised spindle combinations for customized yarn count ranges. The advantages of these spindle types: Optimised yarn guidance via high-grade, wear-resistant surface finish Large feed packages thanks to optimised spindle pot design Minimal vibrations thanks to damped spindle pot mounting Automatic pot bottom cleaning by specially directed airflow Funnel-shaped, self-cleaning yarn channel in the spindle rotor Reserve disc with special, wear-resistant surface finish Air channel for Volcojet the semi-automatic pneumatic threading system for quick and easy spindle threading without additional manual steps Yarn brake easily adjustable to all yarn types Textile contact area isolated from drive area eco spindle types (option) The newly developed eco spindles create a new yarn balloon geometry and also save up to 40% on energy costs compared to traditional spindles. Add-on balloon limiter (optional) When processing friction-resistant fibres or applying the Volkmann lubrication system, the add-on balloon limiter can be retrofitted for spindles with free yarn balloon. The retrofit results in an even greater reduction of energy consumption and an increase in production. 6 COMPACT TWISTER
Machine cross sections 2 1 Two-for-one twisting process Two-for-one twisting process combines two or more single yarn strands by twisting them into one thread. Two twists are inserted into the strand with a single spindle revolution. The strand receives the first twist (1) between the yarn brake and the exit on the spindle rotor. The second twist (2) is received in the yarn balloon between the spindle rotor and the yarn balloon guide. 19 1 Yarn path 18 17 2 Spindle drive belt and belt guide roller 3 4 Foot pedal for spindle brake and Volcojet Spindle rotor 16 14 15 5 6 Spindle pot Yarn brake 13 12 11 7 8 Unwinding aids Balloon limiter 1 10 9 9 Separator 6 10 Yarn balloon guide 7 11 12 Yarn stop device Deflection roller 5 8 13 14 15 Overfeed roller Yarn reserve Traversing mechanism 4 16 17 Friction roller Cradle 2 18 19 Centring discs Package and tube creel / conveyor belt 3 COMPACT TWISTER 7
Drive concept Main features The drive concept is characterised by reduced friction in the entire force progression and by starting and stopping the machine with very high rotation constancy in the twisted yarn. Each machine can operated up to 400 spindles via a common tangential belt. Depending on the power requirement and number of spindles, either one or two energy-optimised drive motors can be used per machine. With the frequency inverters, spindle speed, amount of twist and package building can be adjusted electronically to meet the customer's requirements. The mechanical change of the motor belt pulley is eliminated. This is especially useful to the customer when processing small batches. Strand contamination is avoided by isolating the textile contact area from the spindle drive area. Mechanical drive section A mechanical drive section with a 6 or 8" traverse guide cam drive can also be selected as the drive power. Electronic drive section This modern, electronically controlled drive equipment is state of the art today for the newer textile machines. 8 COMPACT TWISTER
Servo drives The new electronic servo drives were designed to meet highest demands. Continuously adjustable spindle speed and amount of twist Flanged-bobbin form, traverse and traverse variation individually adjustable Electronically controlled anti-patterning device Highest take-up speeds Oil-free, low-maintenance construction Cross-wound delivery packages Cylindrical and conical cross-wound delivery packages of 6" (and 8" for a spindle spacing of 296 mm) can be produced in formats 3 30', 4 20' and 5 57' up to a diameter of 300 mm. Control terminal The new terminal for machines with servo drive and inverter main drive makes it possible to archive up to 1000 separate batch data sets and, if needed, to activate them quickly. The following data will be considered: Spindle speed including programmable approach ramp Amount of twist and twist direction Crossing angle Stop according to length and time Yarn reserve length and yarn position Yarn material Parameters for flanged-bobbin form and package density Notebook function for saving the mechanical setting parameters COMPACT TWISTER 9
Optional handling optimisation Very short conversion times by central adjustment of the yarn balloon guide and deflection roller (option) The yarn balloon guide can also be centrally set to a uniform height. Discrepancies in the balloon yarn guide heights are thus avoided. Especially with the eco spindles, the full energy savings potential is achieved very easily by using central adjustment. The quality of the cross-wound delivery package generated depends to a large extent on the takeup tension. This is the determining factor for package hardness. The yarn guide rollers used to influence the takeup tension can be centrally adjusted side by side to a uniform position. Volcojet (option) The Volcojet is the proven threading system on the Two-for-One spindle. Yarn threading times are significantly reduced. Operation of the foot pedal stops the spindle rotor. As the foot pedal is pressed down further, compressed air is released, the yarn is drawn through the spindle and brought upward around the spindle pot. Here the yarn can easily be grasped by the operator. A rapid threading operation is guaranteed every time. 10 COMPACT TWISTER
Reduction of the conversion times Yarn reserve The automatic transfer-tail device enables a centrally adjusted yarn reserve length to be properly secured and bound. For block doing, the servo traverse can be used to select an individual yarn reserve and yarn length. Automatic yarn stop feeler lock (optional) In the event of machine stoppage or power failure, the yarn stop feelers are automatically locked in their working position. This prevents the yarn stop feelers from dropping when the machine is stopped. On machine restart, the yarn stop feelers are released after a timed delay to avoid yarn breaks as the machine accelerates. This means that the automatic yarn stop feeler locking system an important element in quality twisted yarn production. Each individual yarn stop feeler can be magnetically docked at the middle wall for reloading the spindle. Package and tube creels Creel and storage facilities for packages and empty tubes are available in various configurations to reduce the amount of handling to a minimum. Package conveyor belt (optional) For integration into an automated, continual production process. Handling times are significantly reduced. The package conveyor belt can also be used as an interim storage facility for the cross-wound delivery packages. COMPACT TWISTER 11
2 x 6 direct feeds Direct feeds with TwinPack (option) This proven device for processing 2 x 6" direct feeds with two spindle pots provides a number of advantages in addition to eliminating the assembly-wound process. Separate inlet of feed yarns with the same angle of inlet Even unwinding tension No yarn remnants on the stationary feed packages Process safety through automatic spindle stop Easy handling, especially during the threading operation A short balloon limiter protects against yarn contamination Use for tube or cone types 4 20' and 5 57' including bullnose The lower pot can be used separately for 8" feeds, the balloon tension and the energy requirements are reduced accordingly. Automatic spindle stop (option) This feature facilitates automatic stopping of the spindles as the feed package empties or in the event of a yarn breakage. Further withdrawal of the yarn from the feed package is thus safely prevented. The automatic spindle stop function is pneumatically activated by a yarn balloon tension monitor. Independently from the automatic function, the spindle can also be stopped manually when the operator locks the yarn stop feeler. Alternative feeds for lowered machine (option) Volkmann continues to provide the tested and proven 2 x 6" direct feed in a spindle pot, which provides a number of advantages in addition to eliminating the assembly-wound process. Optional use of the Constant Lubritwist system for yarn lubrication Use of both cylindrical and conical tube types The one-piece spindle pot enables the use of assembly-wound packages with up to 10" winding traverse, which increases its flexibility. 12 COMPACT TWISTER
Twisted yarn and package quality New take-up geometry The extended take-up triangle provides a more uniform yarn quality and homogeneous package building. The new take-up geometry optimises the quality of the twisted yarn. Furthermore, the take-up package edges become softer and the package becomes more uniform overall, which is advantageous for other applications such as dyeing. What's proven and what's new The new Compact Twister makes no compromises when it comes to the quality of elements that come into contact with yarn. Proven elements like: overfeed discs, the rotating yarn reserve rod, the traversing guide and the friction roller were taken over in the new geometry. The newly designed cover has the proven storage places. Cradle Cross-wound delivery packages can be wound up to a maximum diameter of 300 mm: highly consistent package building optimised clip connection of the centering discs and protection from lap formation Pressure cast cradle (optional) The stable cradles in the pressure cast version are recommended for processing special yarn requirements. Package lift-o (optional) Following a time delay, the pneumatic package lift-o device takes the completed package o the drive drum, avoiding any unnecessary rubbing of the package surface. After the package is lifted, it is clearly visible along the entire machine side. Cradle load relief system (optional) In conjunction with large wrap-around angles on the overfeed unit, a pneumatic cradle load relief system with central adjustment is used to produce soft-edge packages suitable for dyeing.
