However, we want to caution our players not to post pictures of their winning tickets on social media before they've claimed their prize. Why? Believe it or not, some less-than-honest folks out there have been able to take those photos into retailers and actually cash in for the prize. If you're in one of your stores and you hear a particularly excited player talking about a win or even see them snapping a selfie with their ticket please remind them to follow our advice and wait to share the excitement until after they've claimed their prize. Watch out for a new digital ad campaign in June that will remind all Virginians, "Protect Your Play."

RETAILER SUCCESS On January 9, 2018, while making his regular retailer visit at Sheetz #573 in King George, Sales Representative Jim Schultz ran into the District Manager, Jamie Salyards. Jim mentioned to Jamie how the store s Lottery sales have increased since store manager, Cari Toman, became the manager at this location. Much to Jim s surprise Jamie said Cari was recognized at their Sheetz Product Show for having the highest sales increase in Lottery sales for 2017 for all of the Virginia Sheetz stores. Cari is on board with multi-loading, she makes sure there are no out of stocks by filling the Game Machine, the 16 facing tower and the Gen II cube when needed. Both Cari and Jamie understand the important role Virginia Lottery sales play in the store s bottom line. Congrats Sheetz #573, Cari and Jamie; it's clear you ARE GAME! A VISIBLE WELL-STOCKED DISPLAY WILL MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE AND INCREASE SALES! LOOK WHO WON! Victor Amole said he doesn t usually buy identical tickets in the Virginia Lottery s Cash 5 game. However, when the Woodbridge man saw a set of numbers in a dream, he decided to play those numbers four times. He bought four tickets, each with the same set of numbers. I ve never had a dream like that before, he said. When his numbers were drawn in the January 13 night drawing, all four of his tickets won the game s $100,000 top prize for a total of $400,000. Those winning numbers were 3-10-17-26-32. He bought the tickets at Fas Mart, 2142 Jefferson Davis Highway, in Stafford. Mr. Amole, who is a computer programmer, said he intends to invest his winnings. Cash 5 drawings are held daily at 1:59 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. The chances of winning the $100,000 top prize are 1 in 278,256. When it comes to education, the Virginia Lottery is game. Mr. Amole lives in Prince William County, which received more than $59.5 million in lottery funds for K-12 education last fiscal year.
