Speaker Biographies DAN FUSS, CFA, CIC VICE CHAIRMAN, BOARD OF DIRECTORS, LOOMIS SAYLES & CO. Dan Fuss has 59 years of experience in the investment industry and has been with Loomis, Sayles & Company since 1976. He is vice chairman of the firm s Board of Directors and manages the firm s flagship Loomis Sayles Bond Fund which won the 2009 Morningstar Fund Manager of the Year award in the fixed income category in addition to the Loomis Sayles Investment Grade Bond, Investment Grade Fixed Income, Strategic Income, Fixed Income, Institutional High Income and Global Equity and Income funds. In 2012, Dan received both the Institutional Investor Money Management Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Lipper Excellence in Investing Award. In 2013, Dan received the CFA Society of Milwaukee Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2000, he was named to the Fixed Income Analysts Society s Hall of Fame in recognition of his contributions and lifetime achievements toward the advancement of the analysis of fixed income securities and portfolios. He has twice been president of the Boston Security Analysts Society. Dan earned a BS and an MBA from Marquette University. He served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1958 and held the rank of Lieutenant. ANDREAS UTERMANN CEO & GLOBAL CIO, ALLIANZ GLOBAL INVESTORS Andreas Utermann is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Global Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Allianz Global Investors, a global asset manager within Allianz s asset management division. He is Chair of the Global Executive Committee. Andreas has been with the firm and a member of the Global Executive Committee since 2002, initially serving as Global CIO Equities and becoming Global CIO and co-head in 2012. In 2016, he was appointed non-executive Director of Tokio Marine Rogge Asset Management Limited. Prior to joining AllianzGI, he spent twelve years working at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (formerly Mercury Asset Management), where he became Global Head and CIO Equities as well as Member of various Boards. Before this, Andreas worked for several years at Deutsche Bank AG. Andreas was a board member of CFA Society of the UK from 2011 thru 2017 and sits on the European Institute s Advisory Board and the Advisory Council of the UK s Investment Association. Andreas was appointed Chairman of the Forum of European Asset Managers (FEAM) in March 2017 and is a member of the Board of ICMA. He supports a number of charitable causes and is a Trustee of the Utermann Charitable Trust, which has a focus on addressing environmental concerns as well as furthering education. Andreas holds a BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and an MA in Economics from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. JANE WELLS REPORTER, CNBC CNBC business news reporter Jane Wells is based in Los Angeles, where she covers retail, agriculture and defense as well as reports on California s economy, West Coast real estate and Las Vegas. Wells also writes the blog Funny Business for CNBC.com covering a variety of unusual items. Wells came from CNBC s Upfront Tonight, where she served as a senior correspondent. Wells joined CNBC in 1996, providing special coverage of the O.J. Simpson civil case for Rivera Live. Prior to joining CNBC, she was a correspondent for the Fox News Channel and Los Angeles reporter for NBC s flagship television station, WNBC, in New York. Her television news career includes reporter positions with KTTV, Los Angeles; WTVJ, Miami; and KOB, Albuquerque. She has also contributed international reports for CNN. Wells has received numerous honors for her work, including a 1992 Peabody Award and dupont Award for her role in the live coverage of the Rodney King Trial. That same year, she earned a Los Angeles Emmy Award for her investigative reporting. She also has received UPI, Press Club and Emmy Awards for feature reporting; three Florida Emmy Awards for news reporting; and the Investigative Reporters and Editors Award for team reporting. Page 2
About the CFA Society San Diego OUR MISSION The mission of the CFASSD is to serve the needs of professionals in the investment decision making process by providing a forum for the exchange of information and ideas among its members, by enhancing members investment knowledge, and by encouraging high ethical standards and professional conduct among all participants in the investment industry. WHO WE ARE The CFA Society San Diego was founded in 1962 as the Financial Analysts Society of San Diego, Inc. to promote a high standard of ethics and sound professional standards of investment management and research, and to enhance professional knowledge and skills. The Society was admitted to the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR) on November 4, 1963. In May 2004, AIMR became CFA Institute and in May 2005, the Society changed its name to CFA Society San Diego (CFASSD), in order to more closely align with the CFA Institute and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA ) designation. There are approximately 500 members of the CFASSD, including security analysts, portfolio managers, bankers, and other investment professionals. Approximately 450 CFASSD members hold the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. In addition, approximately 300 are currently candidates for this prestigous professional designation. ABOUT THE CFASSD FORECAST DINNER This year marks our eleventh annual CFASSD Forecasting Dinner, and we anticipate the event will draw over 350 attendees and guests. Most of the attendees will include professional money managers, investment consultants, plan sponsors, financial planners and financial advisors from San Diego and Southern California. The 2018 Forecasting Dinner will consist of a cocktail hour, dinner, two thirty-minute presentations from speakers sharing unique perspectives on the market, and a thirtyminute Q&A speaker panel discussion led by CNBC business reporter Jane Wells.
