Choose a title (titles may change) Reflections Shapes, distortions and patterns. Reflections can change how we see the world. Starting points could be water, nature, shiny objects, windows, mirrors. Look at Escher, Anish Kapoor, Paula Sciuk, Josef Kote s boats Layers Artists have explore the theme of layers in different formats, it could be time, nature, history, people, culture.. Investigate how other artists have explored this theme and create a project which reflects your interpretation of this title. Annette Messenger, Jenny Trinks, Brooks Shane Salzwedal, David Carson, Vivienne May, Sarah Rouse, Natural forms Natural forms have been studied and use in many art forms, in painting, photography and sculpture. Look at structure, close up, patterns, shape and colour. Investigate how other artists have explored this theme and create a project which reflects your interpretation of this title. Artists to look at: Andy Goldsworthy, Claude Monet, Barbara Hepworth, Gerogia O Keefe, Robert Smithson, Dolan Maxwell. Art and words Many artists have used a combination of art and words to create dynamic and striking work. Research one of the following artists and create a response to them John Toth, Roy Lichtenstein, Sarah Fishburn, Denis Brown. Make sure you have clear theme or story that you wish to investigate, e.g. love and anger, a journey, a fairy tale, a family story, a relationship etc. THEN START TO RECORD/ DRAW SOME INTIAL IMAGES LINKED TO YOUR THEME

Information to consider - You have 14 weeks to complete a full sketchbook in preparation for your exam. You are marked out of 80. Your preparation covers your first three assessment objective, Develop, Refine and Record. This is worth 60 marks. Your final outcome which you will do in 10 hours is worth a further 20 marks. Annotating your work THIS IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT PART OF YOUR WORK, MAKE SURE YOU COMMUNICATE YOUR IDEAS THROUGHOUT YOUR PROJECT, THINK ABOUT THE FOLLOWING. a record of your experiences and emotions connected to an image a record of how you intend to use these images to develop your own ideas an example of your progress through a project To annotate your work successfully, you should explain: what you have done and why you did it how you did it, such as the media and techniques used why you chose a particular medium or technique how an artwork fits in with your project what aspects you like how you could improve the work what you think you will do next This links to AO1, AO2 AND AO3. Key Vocabulary Subject - what is shown in the artwork, such as a portrait or a still life Composition - how the elements of the work are arranged, i.e. whether they're close together or far apart Foreground and background - elements that appear to be in front or behind other aspects of the artwork Line - can vary in width, length, curvature, colour or direction Shape - describes the two-dimensional outline Form - describes a three-dimensional object Texture - the way surfaces look and feel, i.e. rough, smooth, soft, etc. Tone - shading, from dark to light Media What and why has been used?
