KFS Flap Flow Meter KFS suitable for H, acids, alkalis and gases spring-loaded horizontal or vertical flow direction low pressure loss mainly viscosity independent optional threshold value contacts optional analogue outlet 4- ma Design and area of use The KFS is manufactured in two versions. The basic device with a special steel display housing and as an option with an electrical outlet in an aluminium display housing (). The meter mainly works viscosity-independence and is suitable for the displaying of water, acid, alkali and gas flows. Each of the devices is calibrated in accordance with customer requirements and is provided with a measuring substance-specific scale. For process control, the meter can be equipped with threshold value contacts or a transducer with an electrical outlet. A semi-circular plate is mounted on a swivelling axis situated in the mm thick ring. Depending on the flow amount, the angle between the flap and the ring and a magnetic coupling which is protected against tearing off transmits the movement to an external display. The Hal-Sensor The Hal-Sensor is a position transducer with a microprocessor. The instrument uses the Hall effect to capture the field of a magnet. This signal, after the micro-controller processing, is converted to a 4- ma signal proportional to the flow rate. NOTE: Do not unscrew or remove the magnet or the circuit board, because it could affect the calibration. EM The EM works as a two-wire system. It is a 4 to ma transmitter proportional to flow rate. 4 ma corresponds to beginning of the scale. ma corresponds to full scale. Between the beginning of the scale and the first point of the scale the analogue output is constant at 4 ma, to avoid false readings of flow rate. GENERAL WIRING Before starting the electrical installation, make sure that the cable gland of the connector is the right size for the cable to be used. This will guarantee that the instrument is perfectly sealed (it is recommended the use of shielded pair wiring with an exterior diameter between and mm. The 1 2 J4 ma Power supply to Vdc section of the cables inside will be 0,2 or 0, mm2). A twisted pair wiring should be used to avoid electrical interferences in the 4- ma loop. In some instances, shielded cable may be necessary. Before connecting the power supply, you must be sure that the supply voltage is the correct for the installation. 2-WIRE CONNECTION Power supply and analogue output The connection is made in the connector J4, with the negative terminal of the power supply in the position 1 and the negative terminal of the load in the position 2. The positive terminals of the power supply and the load are connected together. The instrument works in a 2-wire system, that is, the supply and signal line is the same.
