Introduction Bring out the best in your Blum hardware Using Blum products means that you want excellent quality for your home, especially your kitchen. While Blum is undeniably a brand you can trust, the installation and maintenance of our product must also be observed and has to adhere to the standards set by Blum. Just as you will not risk sending your brand new car to an unauthorised workshop with uncertified workers who may cause more problems that need to be corrected later on by skilled workers, you should also not let an untrained carpenter install your valuable furniture. As part of Blum s intiative to bring you the best possible service, we have collected important information for you to be able to fully enjoy the usage of our products for the lifetime of your kitchen and home. 4
Blum certified carpenters Reliable product performance thanks to modern hardware and skilled carpenters Proper technical expertise and maintenance are key to reliable product performance. We therefore recommend that you engage carpenters certified by Blum from manufacturing to installation to maintenance. Blum is offering a Skill Development course to carpenters and is certifying only those who have proven their knowledge by passing specialised Blum certification exams. These certified Blum technicians are then given a certification card and a certificate as proof of recognition. What does a Blum certified carpenter have to offer you? Knowledge All Blum certified carpenters have successfully completed and passed the practical and theoretical exams on the proper installation of Blum products, proving that they have the relevant skills to properly install modern hardware from Blum. Continuing education Carpenters certified by Blum are required to renew their certification regularly and have to attend continuing education offered by Blum. With this, you can be confident that your carpenter has the current knowledge on Blum applications. Compliance Professionals certified by Blum have studied international standards of furniture construction and are able to apply these when installing Blum hardware. Safety Professionals certified by Blum have studied safety procedures and practices to ensure that our products are properly installed in your furniture. 5
Blum programmes Skill development programmes Blum is offering free of charge installation courses for TANDEMBOX, TANDEM runners, CLIP top hinges, AVENTOS, SERVO-DRIVE and TANDEMBOX intivo/antaro. Carpenters will be given a certification card in accordance to the course/s he completed and passed. A carpenter who has not yet been trained and certified by Blum for a specific product may not produce the workmanship that you expect. Hence, engaging a carpenter with the right qualifications will result in a better experience. Customer should make sure that the carpenter he engaged to install his Blum hardware is Blum certified. The course or courses which the carpenter completed and passed is/are indicated on the certification card that he holds, as shown below. Technician Card TANDEMBOX TANDEM runners CLIP top AVENTOS SERVO-DRIVE TANDEMBOX intivo/antaro This card signifies that the carpenter has finished all the 6 courses of Blum and is certified to perform the installation of all Blum products. Technician Card TANDEMBOX This card suggests that the carpenter is certified to install only the TANDEMBOX drawers. He has not yet been trained and certified by Blum to install other Blum products according to our guidelines. Disclaimer: Blum can only guarantee the quality of its hardware and not the quality of a carpenter s work. Blum does not guarantee that the certificate will result in perfect workmanship. Carpentry is a hands-on work and mistakes can happen. However, our training courses will provide the carpenter with the necessary training to provide you with skillful workmanship. 6
So quickly answered Frequently asked questions Why is it important that my hardware is installed properly? It is important that your Blum hardware is installed properly because only perfect installation can lead to the motion that you have experienced at the Blum showroom. How can I make sure that my Blum hardware is properly installed? We recommend to engage a carpenter who has attended the Blum Skill Development course(s) and is therefore Blum certified. How do I find a carpenter who has attended the Blum Skill Development programme? To make sure, please contact the Blum South East Asia office and ask for our certified partners. How do I know that my carpenter is Blum certified? Before he starts installing your furniture, please ask him to show his personal Blum certification card which lists up the trainings he has attended. If he has no certification, please encourage him to attend the Blum Skill Development programmes. An enrollment form is enclosed at the end of this brochure. What shall I do if my kitchen does not work as smooth as in the Blum showroom? Please contact your carpenter and ask him to have a look at it. If he is not able to fix it, suggest him to call the Blum South East Asia Office. 7
Cleaning instructions Care instructions for Blum products Blum products are maintenance-free. But during assembly and usage of Blum products, it is inevitable that stains or other kinds of contamination will appear on the product or its surfaces. When cleaning, make sure to treat the protective areas and materials with care. Avoid applying abrasive chemicals as they will cause damage to the product. The instruction procedures below show how proper treatment should be performed in order to maintain the good condition of the purchased goods. > Stainless steel sides and stainless steel ORGA-LINE Use only commercial cleaners for stainless steel (usually obtainable as spray). Read carefully the cleaning instructions located on the canister before applying. Rub with a soft, damp cloth. Dry cloth should be used for wet surfaces. Wipe small contaminations with solvent soap (mixed with water) and then mop away the small water drops with a dry cloth. ORGA-LINE: Dishwasher-proof using commercial dishwasher cleaner. > Plastic-coated surfaces and plastic components Rub with a soft, damp cloth. Dry cloth should be used for wet surfaces. Wipe small contaminations with solvent soap (mixed with water) and then mop away the small water drops with a dry cloth. > Nickel- or chrome-plated surfaces Rub with a soft, damp cloth. Dry cloth should be used for wet surfaces. Oil SOLVENTS > Under the above-mentioned circumstances, the following should NOT be used: Scrubbing household cleaners and accessories (bristly cloths, sponges, etc). Strong alkaline or strong acid substances. Chloral cleaners. Micro fibres might harm surfaces in the event of scrubbing. Acetone solvents, nitro thinners, Sal ammoniac or solvents whose nomenclature contains terms that begin with Tri/Tetra. 8
