CH825 WEGNER S STYLISH CREDENZA Hans J. Wegner s elegant CH825 credenza from 1959 epitomizes stylish, exclusive design. Though it looks simple, the credenza features an advanced oak or walnut construction with roller shutter doors further proof of Wegner s unique understanding of the interplay between aesthetics and the finer elements of craftsmanship. The credenza can be mounted on round solid oak or walnut legs or on steel loops, which are also used in Wegner s CH100 series. The various options allow the CH825 to match a variety of styles and settings. The low credenza offers an ideal surface for artistically arranging favorite objects, with plenty of additional storage space behind the elegant roller shutter doors. The interior features adjustable shelves and pull-out oak drawers, and is designed to enable simple installation of additional drawers. The CH825, originally one of a series of three credenzas, is based on Wegner s original drawings. A highly coveted item at auctions in recent years, it is now being relaunched by Carl Hansen & Søn to mark the 100th anniversary of Wegner s birth. CH825 Ch100
HANS J. WEGNER MASTER OF MINIMALISM Furniture designer Hans J. Wegner is regarded as one of the founding fathers of Danish modernism and minimalist furniture design. Born in 1914, Wegner completed his cabinetmaker training in 1932. At the age of 20, he moved to Copenhagen to study at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, where he attended classes from 1936 to 1938. Working as a self-employed architect, he founded his own company in 1943. Wegner s enduring love of quality craftsmanship and constant pursuit of minimalist expression made him a pioneer in a new generation of furniture designers. With such iconic works as the Wishbone Chair and Shell Chair, Wegner proved time and time again that well-conceived design never goes out of fashion. CH825 Ch100 He received numerous design awards throughout his long and distinguished career, and his works have been on display at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York as well as many other exhibition venues. Wegner passed away in January 2007.
CH825 Ch100 CH100 SERIEs EXTRAORDINARY ELEGANCE
WEGNER S 100 SERIES Hans J. Wegner was a visionary designer whose work was often ahead of its time. In 1970, he designed the exclusive CH100 series that represents some of the finest steel work of his career. The series inviting design combines subtle strength with the inherent appeal of a masterpiece. The series embodies the extremely simple cubic design that, along with timeless and exquisite comfort, has maintained its modern expression throughout the years. The pieces were produced in small quantities throughout the 1970s, until Carl Hansen & Søn relaunched the series with sofas, an armchair and coffee tables to mark the company s 100th anniversary in 2008. Since then, a desk, two chairs and another armchair have been added as well. The series was originally launched to target modern offices and conference centers, but its design makes it an excellent fit for other settings, from stylish home interiors to hotel lounges. All furniture in the series features simple surfaces made of luxurious materials, such as oak, walnut and leather, that radiate calm and tranquility, while the stainless steel loops lend the minimalist design Wegner s characteristic natural softness.
