Midwest Sewing Center Newsletter & Schedule of Classes June July August 2012 Midwest Sewing & Vacuum Center has been in business for over 56 years. We believe that when a company sells a product, they should back that product totally, something the public cannot get from discount stores or the internet. We have a saying hanging in our office, "the bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of a cheap price is forgotten." This same sign hung in the former presidents office at Midwest for 56 years. Don t forget we service and repair all makes and models of vacuums, sewing machines, air machines, quilting machines and industrial machines! We stock feet and accessories for all brand of sewing machines! We also carry almost every bag and belt made for vacuums! When you need anything to do with sewing machines or vacuums we are your one stop shop for it all! Downtown Store Mon-Fri 8:30-5:30 Sat. 9-4 111 S. Midwest Sewing Center Upcoming Events Our Guild first sponsored a quilt show in 1984 and has held one on the even numbered years ever since. With a membership of anywhere from 600 to 950 we tend to do things in a big way. You can count on viewing over 500 quilts at our shows! We feature Judged and nonjudged quilts. Our Judge is a NQA Certified judge. You are welcome to enter either category as long as you hold a current PQG membership. There is a fee of $10 for each Judged entry and a limit of 5 total items per member that may be entered. Prize money as well as ribbons will be awarded in the Judged category. Please see the registration tab for forms for further information. Educating the youth of our community has a high priority with the Prairie Quilt Guild. All funds raised from our Miniature Auction go into our Grant Fund. We have now expanded our grants to include both youth and adult organizations. Get your bidding card early and be prepared for a fun time! Along with the viewing of beautiful quilts we have a variety of Vendors from all over the US. For the curious, all you have to do is check out the Shopping page! If you have a favorite Vendor that isn't listed please pass the information on to them-we'd love to hear from them. Software Sampler Q & A What is Software Sampler? It s a Webcast from Bernina, designed to teach you more about your V5 or V6 Software. This embroidery software will enable you to take a picture, a drawing, or an idea, change it to your liking, and make it into the perfect embroidery design. What do we do at Software Sampler? We watch the software lesson from Bernina. Then, using your Bernina Software and laptop, you may stay to work the lesson that was taught. You will be ready to go home and stitch out your design! (This is at a quick pace, so it is recommended that you are somewhat familiar with your software if you want to work the lesson at the store. We want you to enjoy it...not be frustrated!) How much does it cost? Only $10! This includes a take-home CD and the instructions you need to re-create the lesson anytime you want. Please call or stop by to register so we will have enough CDs for everyone! Q. What if I love machine embroidery, but I don t have Bernina V6 Software? A. Then All About ME is for YOU!
