PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THE NINTENDO 3DS TM OPERATIONS MANUAL BEFORE USING YOUR SYSTEM, GAME CARD OR ACCESSORY. THIS MANUAL CONTAINS IMPORTANT HEALTH AND SAFETY INFORMATION. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: READ THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS BEFORE YOU OR YOUR CHILD PLAY VIDEO GAMES. WARNING - 3D FEATURE ONLY FOR CHILDREN 7 AND OVER Viewing of 3D images by children 6 and under may cause vision damage. Use the Parental Control feature to restrict the display of 3D images for children 6 and under. See the Parental Controls section in the Nintendo 3DS Operations Manual for more information. WARNING - SEIZURES Some people (about 1 in 4000) may have seizures or blackouts triggered by light flashes or patterns, and this may occur while they are watching TV or playing video games, even if they have never had a seizure before. Anyone who has had a seizure, loss of awareness, or other symptom linked to an epileptic condition should consult a doctor before playing a video game. Parents should watch their children play video games. Stop playing and consult a doctor if you or your child has any of the following symptoms: Convulsions Eye or muscle twitching Loss of awareness Altered vision Involuntary movements Disorientation To reduce the likelihood of a seizure when playing video games: 1. Sit or stand as far from the screen as possible. 2. Play video games on the smallest available television screen. 3. Do not play if you are tired or need sleep. 4. Play in a well-lit room. 5. Take a 10 to 15 minute break every hour. WARNING - EYESTRAIN AND MOTION SICKNESS Playing video games can result in eyestrain after a sustained period of time, and perhaps sooner if using the 3D feature. Playing video games can also result in motion sickness in some players. Follow these instructions to help avoid eyestrain, dizziness, or nausea: Avoid excessive play. It is recommended that parents monitor their children for appropriate play. Take a 10 to 15 minute break every hour, or every half hour when using the 3D feature, even if you don t think you need it. Each person is different, so take more frequent and longer breaks if you feel discomfort. If your eyes become tired or sore while playing, or if you feel dizzy or nauseated, stop and rest for several hours before playing again. If you continue to have any of the above symptoms, stop playing and see a doctor.

WARNING - REPETITIVE MOTION INJURIES Playing video games can make your muscles, joints, or skin hurt. Follow these instructions to avoid problems such as tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome or skin irritation: Avoid excessive play. Parents should monitor their children for appropriate play. Take a 10 to 15 minute break every hour, even if you don t think you need it. When using the stylus, you do not need to grip it tightly or press it hard against the screen. Doing so may cause fatigue or discomfort. If your hands, wrists, or arms become tired or sore while playing, or if you feel symptoms such as tingling, numbness, burning or stiffness, stop and rest for several hours before playing again. If you continue to have any of the above symptoms or other discomfort during or after play, stop playing and see a doctor. WARNING - BATTERY LEAKAGE The Nintendo 3DS contains a rechargeable lithium ion battery pack. Leakage of ingredients contained within the battery pack, or the combustion products of the ingredients, can cause personal injury as well as damage to your Nintendo 3DS. If battery leakage occurs, avoid contact with skin. If contact occurs, immediately wash thoroughly with soap and water. If liquid leaking from a battery pack comes into contact with your eyes, immediately flush thoroughly with water and see a doctor. To avoid battery leakage: Do not expose battery to excessive physical shock, vibration, or liquids. Do not disassemble, attempt to repair, or deform the battery. Do not dispose of battery pack in a fire. Do not touch the terminals of the battery or cause a short between the terminals with a metal object. Do not peel or damage the battery label. WARNING - RADIO FREQUENCY INTERFERENCE The Nintendo 3DS can emit radio waves that can affect the operation of nearby electronics, including cardiac pacemakers. Do not operate the Nintendo 3DS within 9 inches of a pacemaker while using the wireless feature. If you have a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, do not use the wireless feature of the Nintendo 3DS without first consulting your doctor or the manufacturer of your medical device. Observe and follow all regulations and rules regarding use of wireless devices in locations such as hospitals, airports, and on board aircraft. Operation in those locations may interfere with or cause malfunctions of equipment, with resulting injuries to persons or damage to property.

Insert the Skylanders Trap Team Game Card into the Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 2DS Game Card slot as described in your Nintendo 3DS or 2DS instruction manual. 2. Turn the Power Button ON. 3. Tap on Skylanders Trap Team on the 3DS HOME Menu to bring up the main title screen. Note: The Skylanders Trap Team Game Card is for the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS systems only. INTRODUCTION Villainous nightmare creatures have escaped from the Realm of Dreams and placed all of Skylands under a terrible sleep spell. You and the Skylanders now have the amazing ability to capture the villains and return them to Skylands to fight for you! Begin the ultimate 3D adventure as you explore Skylands in search of the escaped villains! 1

PORTAL OF POWER To begin Skylanders Trap Team, you will need to prepare your Portal of Power. First, please install batteries into the Portal of Power. To turn on your Portal of Power, press on the top until it clicks and the Portal of Power lights up. You can use the Portal of Power to bring your Skylanders to life by visiting the portal in the Eternal Archives. When prompted, aim the rear facing infrared transceiver of the Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 2DS system at the front facing infrared sensor on the Portal of Power. Look for the green arrow on the top of the Portal of Power to help you line it up. You can place one figure on the Portal of Power at a time. Figures include a playable character or a Magic Item or a Location Piece (each sold separately). To play Skylanders Trap Team you will need a Portal of Power and at least two Skylanders figures as they are required to start a new profile and to complete the tutorial. Skylanders from Skylanders Trap Team, Skylanders SWAP Force, Skylanders Giants, and Skylanders Spyros Adventure can all be used in Skylanders Trap Team. For easy mobility, the Portal of Power can be powered off and the Skylanders who have entered the game through the Portal of Power can be swapped into play at any time using the menu located on the Touch Screen. SAVING YOUR SKYLANDERS STATS Your Skylander figures remember all of their powers and upgraded abilities via the Portal of Power. Entering the Eternal Archives will allow you to save your Skylander s stats and experience level. This way, no matter where you play with your Skylander, their level and abilities will always grow! 2 Saved stats: Experience Points and Experience Level. Upgraded Abilities and Stats. SAVING YOUR SKYLANDERS STATS Steps needed to save: On the Touch Screen Menu, select the Skylander that you wish to save. Visit the portal in the Eternal Archives. Place the corresponding figure on the Portal of Power and follow the on-screen instructions. The level, the upgrades and the equipped hat are saved on the figure This game uses an auto-save feature for game progression. Please do not touch the POWER Button or remove the Game Card when this icon is displayed. Skylanders Trap Team has exciting mini-games where you move your Nintendo 3DS around. Tilt your Nintendo 3DS to move objects like snowballs or flying carpets! Cannons can also be aimed by moving your Nintendo 3DS around. Sit in a stable position with your Nintendo 3DS in front of you. Move your body and the Nintendo 3DS left, right, up and down to aim. When playing this game, you may have to move the Nintendo 3DS system around. Make sure you have enough room before playing, and hold the system firmly with both hands while playing. Do not move the Nintendo 3DS system with excessive force, as this could cause injuries, damage to the product, or damage to nearby objects. MENUS MENU NAVIGATION Stylus Navigate menus. A Button Press to accept. B Button Press to go back to the previous menu or cancel. MAIN MENU Select a Profile Store up to three Save Profiles. Play After selecting a Save Profile, tap to start or resume adventure. Options View Credits, Legal Information, or Toggle on and off StreetPass. PAUSE MENU Resume Return to your Adventure. Upgrades Displays statistics and abilities of the active Skylander. Options Adjust the music, FX volumes and Difficulty level. Retry Restarts the current level from the beginning. Eternal Archives Return to the Eternal Archives at any time. 4

PLAYING THE GAME IN-GAME DISPLAY 1. Health Meter The green meter displays the amount of remaining health for your Skylander. Leveling up your Skylander will increase the max health amount. 2. Experience Meter When the grey meter is filled your Skylander will gain an experience level. 3. Gems Displays the amount of gems collected. 4. Experience Orbs Collecting these orbs will increase your Experience Meter. 5. Skylander Level Reflects the experience level for your Skylander. 6. Villain Attack Tap this button to unleash the attack of your trapped villain. After the attack, your villain will rest on the bottom screen until it s ready to attack again. 7. Skylander/Villain Toggle Tap this button to switch between the Skylander and Villain views on the Touch Screen. 8. Trap Attack Meter Displays how much energy your Skylander currently has available to use for its Trap Attack. Fill it up by defeating enemies and collecting Traptanium bits. 2 1 3 4 5 6 7 8 5

PLAYING THE GAME CONTINUED ELEMENTAL CLASSES Each Skylander possesses the power of one of 8 Elemental Classes. The elemental classes included are: Air Life Undead Earth Fire Water Magic Tech ELEMENTAL GATES Throughout Skylands, there are Elemental Gates that only Skylanders of that element can open. Inside are special areas containing new challenges, collectibles, and other rewards for you to discover! LEVELING UP Your Skylanders will gain experience as they complete objectives and defeat enemies. As they level up, their health and stats will increase as well. Each character can unlock new abilities as their level increases. The max experience level a Skylander can reach is 20. TRAP MASTERS Trap Masters are special Skylanders who are the most skilled at trapping the villains of Skylands. They are signified by their large, translucent Traptanium weapons. 6

PLAYING THE GAME CONTINUED TRAPPING VILLAINS After defeating escaped villains, you have the ability to capture them by using your Stylus to trace the vortex on the Touch Screen of the Nintendo 3DS. After capturing a villain, you can briefly summon them in battle by pressing the Villain Attack Button on the Touch Screen. After each attack, your villain will need to rest as the timer counts down, signifying when the attack can be used again. Your active captured villain can be changed by visiting the Traptanium Vault in the Eternal Archives and selecting another captured villain. VILLAINS BOOT CAMP Each captured villain in Skylanders Trap Team has a special training challenge created by the Dream Sheep. Complete these challenges to earn key gems which will allow you to open doors and progress in your adventure. ETERNAL ARCHIVES Explore the Eternal Archives to discover various helpful places which include: Book-Doors Collect key gems in order to open the Book-Doors and progress in your adventure. Portal of Power Summon new Skylanders into the game by visiting the Portal of Power. Collection Chamber Visit the museum to view your Skylander Collection, demo any guest Skylanders you may have encountered through StreetPass or change hats via your Hat Collection. Traptanium Vault Visit the Traptanium Vault to change your active villain, challenge a villain at Skystones, complete a Villain Boot Camp challenge or read through your collection of Nightmare Pages. Skystones Talk to Skystones Mabu to play an online match of multiplayer Skystones with a friend or random opponent. 7

PLAYING THE GAME CONTINUED SKYSTONES If your system is connected to the Internet, this software allows you to play Skystones matches against online opponents. Competitive matches are unlocked by completing the Skystones tutorial. Requirements One system in the Nintendo 3DS family per player. Each player must own the software. Procedure Once the Skystones tutorial is complete, visit the Mabu next to the Portal of Power in the Eternal Archives to play Skystones matches online! To play Skystones matches with your friends, you must first add them to your friend list. Refer to your Operations Manual for information on how to add players to your friend list. ABOUT ONLINE MATCHES Two Ways to Play Play anonymous matches against random opponents, or play against your friends! Skill-based Matchmaking When playing anonymously, your opponents will be selected based on the score of your deck. Earn Rewards Win online matches to earn special stones! Check Your Stats See how many matches you ve played, matches you ve won, and how many are needed to earn your next reward! 8

STREETPASS This software uses StreetPass (local wireless communication) for the exchange of in-game characters. Using StreetPass, you can obtain demonstration versions of any character supported by Skylanders Trap Team that are not in your collection and only for a limited period of time. One demo character will be transferred per StreetPass (that person s most (or most recently) used Skylander). The last ten StreetPass demo characters are saved. Demo characters are level 1 Skylanders that don t gain experience and can t be upgraded. Demo characters can only be played for a single game level. Demo characters will be added to the Virtual Collection that is located on the Touch Screen. They will have a green dot on the bottom right of the character image tile, letting the player know they are a demo character. Once a demo character has been used in a level, it will be removed from the Virtual Collection that is located on the Touch Screen. To communicate using this feature, all players must activate StreetPass for this software. Activating StreetPass Upon first starting the game, follow the on-screen prompts to activate StreetPass for this software. This setting can be found and changed later by selecting Options from the Main Menu. From the Options section, press the green check mark to activate StreetPass. This setting can be turned off by selecting Options from the Main Menu. From the Options section, press the red cross to deactivate StreetPass. You can disable StreetPass functionality via Parental Controls. Refer to your Operations Manual for information on how to set up Parental Controls. 9
