Digital Detox In the world we live in today, it is rare for one to not be on some sort of technological device for a large chunk of the day. Whether it s your smart phone, computer, or ipad. While it is nice that we have the ability to be connected to the entire world and all the knowledge we want with the click of a button it can become a habit and a security blanket of sorts. Do you find yourself perusing your social media accounts when you re bored? Have you ever jumped online to look up one thing, and an hour later, you ve found yourself still scrolling through your newsfeed? We have all fallen victim to this, I do believe. A digital detox, however small it is, can serve you tremendously. Using this time to do the things you truly enjoy: picking up a new hobby, or spending more quality time with your loved ones will quickly become way more enjoyable than scrolling through Twitter!
It s time to make a plan. When you feel bored, what is your first instinct? What will you commit to doing instead of spending extra time on your electronic devices? One simple thing that helps me feel more disconnected from my cell phone is simply having it out of my reach. Instead of it being in my pocket, or sitting next to me, I put it on a table across the room. This cuts down on mindless browsing, and helps me feel much more free from it. Try it out!
