te7700.tif TE-7700 Series RF Wireless Room Temperature Sensing System The TE-7700 Series RF Wireless Room Temperature Sensing System consists of a TE-7710 Series RF Wireless Temperature and Set Point Transmitter, and a TE-7720 or TE-7730 Series RF Receiver. Together, these components monitor the temperature set point and zone temperature, and transmit this data to the receiver at predefined intervals. The information is translated into a control signal that works directly with a wide variety of Johnson Controls and compatible competitors digital controllers in Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. The TE-7700 Series RF Wireless Room Temperature Sensing System uses 900 MHz spread-spectrum technology to prevent accidental and unauthorized interference, and to provide better propagation characteristics within the building. Field-addressable DIP switches establish a unique, secure address between each transmitter and receiver. The TE-7700 system provides indication of RF signal strength and low battery. Indication of zone bus communication is also provided on the TE-7720 Series RF Receiver. To optimize comfort in larger zones, a single receiver can average the measured temperature of up to four transmitters in the zone, or select the highest or lowest measured temperature of the zone. Optional signal strength site survey tools are available to determine the appropriate location of the RF wireless temperature sensing system, prior to its installation. These fast-update, 5-second interval tools verify that the RF signal strength is sufficient to ensure proper operation. Refer to the TE-7700 Series Radio Frequency (RF) Wireless Room Temperature Sensing System Product Bulletin (LIT-1201503) for important product application information. te7700s_rf 1900182 9thcc:na Rev: 10/02/02 logo: TE-7700 Series Radio Frequency (RF) Wireless Room Temperature Sensing System Features RF wireless design allows for quick, economical, and low-maintenance installation, reducing total installed cost improved application flexibility provides an alternative to hardwired room temperature sensing counterparts, especially in installations where building aesthetics (such as solid walls or ceilings, temporary walls, or decorative surfaces) would normally hinder hardwiring 900 MHz spread-spectrum technology prevents accidental and unauthorized interference, and provides better propagation characteristics within the building works with Johnson Controls AS-AHU, AS-UNT, AS-VAV, DX-9100, VMA1400, and compatible competitors digital controllers, establishing a new platform for room temperature sensing communications field-addressable DIP switches establish a unique, secure address between each transmitter and receiver multiple transmitter temperature averaging and high/low selection optimizes comfort in larger zones since a single receiver can average the measured temperature of up to four transmitters in the zone, or select the highest or lowest measured temperature of the zone three-level RF signal strength Light-Emitting Diode (LED) integral to the receiver provides visual indication of adequate RF signal strength in nominal 60-second intervals, and minimizes the need for pre-installation signal strength measurements using a site survey tool zone bus activity LED (TE-7720-0 only) provides direct, visual indication of communication between the receiver and the VMA1400 Series Digital Controller low battery indication (via zone bus for TE-7720-0; via low battery relay binary output and LED for ) provides battery condition to warn supervisory equipment in advance when the battery needs to be replaced manual occupancy override pushbutton signals the receiver that the zone is occupied, to override time-of-day scheduling one-to-one control approach enhances reliability by reducing susceptibility to signal interference and by preventing a single point of failure in multiiple zone applications nominal 60-second transmissions provide optimal HVAC control, while conserving battery life universal mounting provides added flexibility since the temperature transmitter may be easily relocated after initial installation optional fast-update, 5-second transmission interval signal strength site survey tools (available to determine the appropriate temperature sensing system location prior to installation) provide quick assurance of a strong RF transmission signal for proper operation Applications The TE-7700 Series RF Wireless Temperature Sensing System is ideal for installations where building aesthetics would normally hinder hardwiring. Recommended applications for this RF wireless system are numerous and include the following: museums, historical buildings, atriums, or other sites where building retention and its historical preservation are important office buildings, university campuses, educational facilities, correctional facilities, and other structures that incorporate brick or solid concrete walls and/or ceilings buildings featuring marble, granite, glass, mirrored, wood veneer, or other decorative surfaces that present significant challenges when attempting hardwiring office buildings, retail stores, and other commercial real estate where tenant turnover is frequent and temporary walls and ceilings are common stadiums, arenas, gymnasiums, convention centers, airports, zoos, and other locations that feature large, open spaces buildings containing asbestos walls or other biohazards that cannot be disturbed To Order Specify the code number from the selection chart on the following page. 1/6 left ft: right ft: standard Sect# = 0 seq# = 1
