Section 1.0 1.0 Introduction The express purpose of this manual is to define the Northeast Regional Sewer District s policies and procedures for creating, modifying, or maintaining engineering drawings with the use of AutoCAD. This manual is intended for use by consultants, In-house Design Engineering department, and others in preparing drawings, making changes or additions to any engineering or project drawings. This manual is not a biddable design specification and should not be used as such. Page 1 of 1

2.0 FILE MANAGEMENT Section 2.0 All drawing(s), any supporting items (scans, pictures, tiff s etc...) are to be saved on the S: drive, under the Act_Projects directory, Project name, and saved in the DWGS folder. S: drive = \\Neorsd\NEORSD\ANNEX\ANNEX1_VOL4\SHARED S:\INHOUSE\ACT_PROJECT_FILES\PROJECT_NAME Sample Project Name: RAR-4 or FRC-2 or SPI-5 etc This structure is to be used for all project files and all informational files. All drawings and supporting documents (i.e. scans or photos used in/on the drawings) are to be saved in the DWGS subdirectory. Photos not being used on the drawings, but important to the project are to be stored in the PHOTO subdirectory. Specifications are to be saved in the SPEC directory. Project word documents are to be stored in a GENERAL directory. Additional directories may be created on an as needed basis. A TRASH directory is to be kept in the project directory for project file removal storage. Page 2 of 2

Section 3.0 3.0 DRAWING SET-UP 1. Draw in model space FULL scale (1:1). 2. Insert all scans in model space. Scans are to be scaled 1:1. See Scan Management in Section 8.0. 3. Insert Photographs into model space. Photo to be scaled to 1:1 in model space. See Photo Management in Section 9.0. 4. Drawing(s) are to be printed in paper space (Layout tab). Note: See Plotting instructions in Section 10.0. (Drawing Title block is to be placed in Paper Space ONLY.) Page 1 of 1

Section 4.0 4.0 MARKING DRAWINGS FOR REVISIONS When making manual revisions or marks on drawings the colors below should be used... RED - additions, deletions or corrections. Cross out and show new. BLUE - instructions or notes to the draftsman. (These items or notes will NOT be added to the drawing) YELLOW (Highlighter) - Mark-off of completed item, being added to the drawing. BLUE (Highlighter) - Person making marks on drawing to back-check with this color. Used to Mark off changes that have been correctly changed. 4.1 FIELD CHANGES As-Built drawings are to be field marked utilizing the above color standards for changes and ALL marks are to be initialed and/or signed, when marked, and dated. (In Blue) Page 1 of 1

Section 5.0 5.0 TEXT SET-UP All Text is to be placed in paper space. Set Text Style by selecting Format, then Text Style from the menu. Select Font Name This is the settings box that will be displayed. Define Height 1). Text Height is to be set at 0.0900 (3/32 ht.) 2). Select the font name romans.shx 3). Text such as section view title, plan title etc. shall be 0.19 (3/16 ht.) and defined within the drawing on an as needed basis. 5.1 Place text from a Word document in AutoCAD Highlight the text in your word document, right click and copy. In AutoCAD, Select the A in the menu bar (invokes the M-TEXT command) Place m-text box in your drawing to define the text location. In the dialog box that opens, right click and select paste (to paste the word text) Re-highlight the pasted text and set the text font to romans and the height to 0.09 Then select OK. Page 1 of 1

Section 6.0 6.0 SECTION BALLOONS AND DETAIL BOXES 1) Section balloons shall measure ½ diameter. 2) Detail boxes shall measure ½ height. 3) Title sections balloons, title detail boxes and title photo balloons are to measure ¾ height. Section 7.0 7.0 BACKGROUND SET-UP 1. A scanned drawing (used to show existing entities) shall be inserted on the layer called scan. The color used on this layer is 253 (light gray). (See Section 8.0, Scan Management) 2. Entities drawn to show something existing, use the color 252 (slightly darker than 253) on layer called existing. Note: scan uses a lighter color because the thickness of lines and the line quality of a scan will make it appear darker while using the drawn entity color 252. Page 1 of 1

8.0 SCAN MANAGEMENT Section 8.0 1. Scans should be placed in the Dwgs folder. (save scans in the same folder as the project drawings) 2. All Scanned drawings to be added to AutoCAD Files should be saved as a.tif file type. (1-bit Line art) 3. Before inserting scan, name the scan in reference to the drawing name and view of drawing. Example: 01 1_Plan 01-1 = Drawing name _Plan = View of drawing being shown. (i.e. Plan, Section, Elevation, etc.) See Section 8.1 on reducing your TIF file size before use. Page 1 of 1

8.1 Reducing.TIF file sizes with Wise Image. Wise Image Pro will reduce your TIF file by selecting a compression when doing a Save or Save As (Select the same location and name and overwrite original) 1. Open TIF file using Wise Image and select Save or Save As. 2. Select the OPTIONS button below the CANCEL and the SAVE buttons. The Options box will open and display as shown below. OPTIONS Select CCITT Group 4 fax encoding for maximum compression Complete the Save (back to the original file) overwriting the original. The file size should reduce as much as 5 to 1. Exit the Wise Image program. Page 2 of 2

8.12 Scanned File Retrieval Date: 4/20/2005 1. Scanned drawing files are available from the scanner web server. The scanner WEB server, you map to it using Internet Explorer. Type in the web address: UU10.1.30.1 This web address will show you all scanned images, & pdf s. You can right click and save to your hard drive or to a network drive. Page 25 of 25

Section 9 9.0 PHOTO MANAGEMENT 1. Photos should be saved in the same sub-directory as the drawings. (.JPG). 2. Before inserting a photo, name the photo in reference to the drawing name, identification and photo number. Example: 01 1_Photo-2.jpg (01-1) Drawing name (Photo) Identification (-2) 2 nd Photograph or Photo # 3. Reduce your Picture Size before you place in AutoCAD. If Photograph File Sizes are Larger than 100 kb see Section 9.1 to reduce them. 9.1 Reduce Photograph Size to less than 100kb UUUUUUUURequired Software: Adobe Photoshop, or Corel Photo (Version 9.0) (Not Shown) Page 1 of 1

9.1 Continued Open your selected photo in Photoshop and select Image, then Image Size Select this. The Image size dialog box will appear with the settings of the opened photo. Change the width setting to 800 and the height will change accordingly. If the photo has been rotated the sizes may be switched, in that case select the largest number and change it to 800. If the photo Pixel Dimensions are less than 800x600 DO NOT REVISE. Page 2 of 2

MODIFY HERE 9.1 Continued Then select OK. The picture will be resized and you are now ready to save the photo. Select File, Save As..., then type in the photo file name as shown in Section 9.0 (i.e. 01-1_Photo-1.jpg), and select OK. The JPEG Options dialog box will appear. Section 10 10.0 Plotting to District Printers and Plotters 1. Open the Auto Cad file that needs to be printed. (Selected from the directory where it resides). 2. Click on FILE from the pull down menu. 3. Click on PLOT or use CTRL +P (plotting short cut). Page 1 of 1

4. The Plot Dialog Box will then be displayed as shown below. 5. Click the small arrow next to the Help button at the lower right to see Plot Style Table information. This section will be displayed and will allow additional selections Page 2 of 2

6. Select the printer you wish to send the print to by selecting one from the Printer/Plotter selection box (A Fig.#1). For 11 x17 size or smaller select any of the Hp printers HP5100tn_A.ADMIN.NEORSD printer description or the HP5100tn_B.ADMIN.NEORSD printer description. Or any other Printer available to you. (remember to check the media). For Full Size plots select the GJM_Eng_HP800ps.ADMIN.NEORSD or select the GJM_Eng_HP800.ADMIN.NEORSD plotters. These are for Color or Black and White plots. In the Plot Style Table (pen assignments) (B Fig.#1) selection window click on the down arrow and select NEORSD.ctb for all Plots. 8. When the dialogue box is displayed Assign this plot style to all layouts click on the Yes button. Page 3 of 3

9. Click on the down arrow under Paper Size dialog window in this window. Select the 11x17 paper size (C Fig.#1) 10. Check that the Drawing Orientation button is Landscape (D Fig.#1) 11. Check in the Plot Scale Window, that the Scale is selected as Fit to Paper (E Fig.#1) and Scale Line weights (F Fig.#1) 12. In the Plot Offset Window, Place a Check the box next to the Center the Plot (G Fig.#1) to center the Drawing on the paper size selected (C Fig.#1). 13. In the Plot Area window select the What to plot: window pull down button (H Fig.#1) and select WINDOW. Next click the raised Window button (H1 Fig.#1) to define the plotting window. 14. This will then display the AutoCAD drawing window, and your cursor will change to a cross hair. Page 4 of 4

15. Place the cross hairs in the upper left hand corner and snap to the plotting border, then left click the left mouse button and release. Next, snap to the lower right corner of the plotting border and left click the mouse again. This defines the window you will be plotting. To print a selected area of the drawing select the upper left corner by left clicking the mouse and then the lower right corner of the area you wish to print and left click the mouse again. This will define the plotting window size. 16. The Plot Window will re-appear. 17. Click on the PREVIEW button (J Fig.#1) to view the captured selected area to be plotted. 18. At this time, AutoCAD will display the selected area of the drawing, which was windowed, on a virtual reality piece of paper. The cross hairs will change to a magnifying glass, with a plus and minus signs. At this time you can zoom in on items or pan around to see how the plot will look. 19. If the selection is correct and you are satisfied the plot is what you want. Then right click the right mouse button (or see Option 2). This will display a new dialogue box. Select the EXIT button. This will exit you from the preview window return you to the Plot Window where you may make other selections. Or select PLOT from the dialogue box, and your plot will be sent. (Option 2: You could just hit an Escape to return to your Plot Window.). 20. If the selection is correct, then click on the OK raised button (K Fig.#1) in the lower right hand corner of the Plot Window. This will then send the plot to the selected printer or plotter. If the selection was not correct, or the preview you saw was not what you expected to plot, then select EXIT and repeat steps 3 thru 20. Page 5 of 5

Section 11 11.0 Plot Style Tables (Pen Assignments) For all B/W plots 22x34 or 11x17 use NEORSD.ctb Pen Assignment file. See below for instruction on how to select this file for your drawing. A While in Model tab, go to FILE in pull down and select PLOT, change the plot style tab to read: NEORSD.ctb file (A), Answer YES when prompted with Assign plot style table to all layouts (B), Click on the CANCEL button to complete. B NEORSD.ctb All colors that coincide with line weight are available for use. C This file can also be used on all AutoCad files created prior to the release of this document. Use Save As if you have to make changes for a custom application. See illustration below for proper naming instructions.
