Lab Metal A ready to use, aluminum filled metal repair, filler and patching compound. Easy to use Ready to use straight out of the can. No measuring & mixing of components required. Does not require any special tools or skills to use. Versatile Can be spread with a putty knife straight from the can. OR With the use of Alvin Lab-solvent, Lab-metal may thinned to the consistency of paint for brushing or spraying on to practically any surface. Will adhere to any clean & dry metal, wood, glass, porcelain, or hard plastic surface. Once hardened it can be milled, drilled, tapped, sawed, filed or sanded. When hard it is not affected by mild acids, gasoline, oil or petroleum based solvents Does not rust. Withstands temperatures as high as 350 deg. F (177 deg. C) Shelf life: 2 years in factory sealed can. Page 1-2

Strength: Tensile: 650 lbs/sq.inch Compressive: 20,000 lbs/sq.inch Drying time: 1/16 thick 1-2 hours 1/8 thick 3-4 hours Thinned, brushed or sprayed on layers will cure more quickly. Shelf life: Factory sealed can - 2 years. Adhesion: Excellent providing surfaces are clean & dry. *** Lab-metal will not bond 2 parts together, requires exposure to air to properly cure *** Page 1-3
Product Application Thinning Lab-metal: One part Lab-metal to one part Lab-solvent provides a good brushing consistency. Smoothing Lab-metal: When using Lab-metal as a body filler, dip the applicator into the Lab-solvent to enhance spreading. Building up Lab-metal: For thick applications or deep holes, apply Labmetal in thin layers, allowing each to harden before applying the next layer. Page 1-4
Hi Temp Lab Metal Does everything regular lab metal can with the added benefit of; after heat treating, being able to withstand temperatures up to 1000 deg. F. (538 deg. C.). Physical characteristics are the same as regular lab-metal. Can also be thinned to a paint with Lab-solvent. Drying time: Allow to harden for at least 24 hours at room temperature, then heat treat @ 425 deg. F (218 deg. C) for 1 hour. Shelf life: Factory sealed can = 1 year. Page 1-5
Hi Temp Lab Metal Tips The heat cure: After Hi-Temp Lab-metal is fully air dried to a hard metal state, it must be heat treated at 425 o F for one hour. This must be completed prior to the powder coating process. Improper cure: If the air dry or heat cure process is rushed or ignored, out gassing may occur. Page 1-6
Lab Solvent Thinner for Lab-metal & Hi-temp Lab-metal. A mixture of Toluene & Acetone Excellent cleaner & degreaser for surface preparation. Remember: surfaces must be clean & dry for Lab-metal products to adhere properly. Pour a little over the top of unused portion in can before resealing can. Shelf life can be extend indefinitely as long as Lab-metal is kept moist with Lab-solvent. Page 1-7
