CALL FOR NOMINATIONS! 2017 National Philanthropy Awards AFPMHV welcomes your participation in helping to identify and recognize those who contribute to the philanthropic culture of the Mid-Hudson Valley region. Please consider nominating in one (or more) of the categories listed below and share this within your business, community, as well as with board members of organizations with whom you may be affiliated. Nomination & Judging Nominators and nominees do not have to be an AFP member to be eligible. Self-nominations are encouraged. All nominations must be submitted by September 6, 2017 to mhvafp@gmail.com. Questions may be emailed to mhvafp@gmail.com. This year s panel of judges are leaders in the community reaching all regions of the AFPMHV. Judges will make the final selection for the awards based on the noted criteria. 2017 Award Categories Outstanding Philanthropist The Outstanding Philanthropist Award is presented to a person(s) who have a proved record of exceptional generosity for the past year, several years or more. He or she should be an inspiration for others, demonstrate outstanding civic responsibility, leadership and positively impact an organization(s) through their financial support. Outstanding Volunteer Awarded to an individual volunteer who has impacted a Mid-Hudson Valley organization with exceptional leadership skills in fundraising projects for the benefit of charitable institutions and the advancement of philanthropy. Achievements may include: quality of leadership and organizational ability in fundraising campaigns; extent of time and efforts contributed to charitable causes; financial results proportionate to his/her efforts; success in recruiting and motivating others; and/or participation in other non-profit organizations. Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Award recognizes an outstanding Mid-Hudson Valley youth or youth group (ages 18 or younger) who has demonstrated the true spirit of philanthropy through time, treasure and talent. They may have organized a fundraiser at their school, started their own initiative or volunteered their time to help an organization. Achievements include: quality of leadership and organizational ability in fundraising campaigns; extent of time and efforts contributed to cause(s); financial results proportionate to efforts; success in recruiting and motivating others; participation in other non-profit organizations. Leadership Award - Corporate Philanthropy Awarded to a business with operations in the Mid-Hudson Valley who has demonstrated the true spirit of philanthropy through the generous giving of their time, treasures and talent to one or more not-for-profit organizations within the AFPMHV service region. Achievements to keep in mind for your nominee include: quality of leadership and organizational capacity in fundraising support/campaigns; extent of time and efforts contributed to mission(s); financial results proportionate to efforts; success in recruiting and motivating others; and/or participation in other non-profit organizations. Rising Star Fundraiser Recognizes an individual who has been in the fundraising industry for five years or less and has demonstrated a passion, commitment, creativity and/or vision for advancing the philanthropic spirit and culture. Achievements may include: quality of leadership and organizational ability in fundraising campaigns; extent of time and efforts contributed to charitable causes; financial results proportionate to his/her efforts; success in recruiting and motivating others; and/or participation in other non-profit organizations. Innovation in Philanthropy Recognizes an individual or organization for developing a successful and innovative collaboration, approach, campaign and/or event which develops a significant increase in philanthropic support and/or public persona for the mission. Please include a description of how this individual or organization has made an impact, which resulted in increased visibility and/or financial support. Outstanding Fundraising Professional To qualify for this award the individual must exemplify dedication to the nonprofit sector and the professional fundraising community of the Mid-Hudson Valley. Nominees should have at least five years of demonstrated experience in fundraising and be currently active in the field. A description of notable career achievements and length and tenure of fundraising background should be included in the nomination. Include a description of the individual s commitment to professional development and contributions, detailing AFP affiliation(s), community volunteerism, leadership roles, and professional education.
