EVIS EUS ENDOSCOPIC ULTRASOUND CENTER EU-ME2 Dedicated ultrasound processor with versatile functionality.
Advancing the Art of Endosonography The EU-ME2 is a high-quality compact ultrasound processor for use with Olympus endoscopic and endobronchial ultrasound (EUS and EBUS) equipment that has been designed for integration with conventional endoscopy on a single workstation. With its high-resolution imaging and a display that promotes clear visualization, the EU-ME2 brings real clarity to your EUS and EBUS procedures, supporting better detection and characterization of lesions. A variety of new features, such as Elastography mode, advances the art of endosonography. Visualization Enhanced features reduce noise and allow for thorough observation with more detailed images potentially allowing for easier identification of boundaries and recognition of tissue layers. 2
Functionality Versatility New features expand available modes of observation, designed to assist in diagnosis and improved quality of care. Universal backward and forward compatibility with EUS and EBUS endoscopes and miniature probes maximizes cost efficiencies across specialties. 3
Enhanced Features Advancing Visualization B-mode B-mode image quality has been substantially improved, making it possible for more accurate identification of tumors and tissue properties and boundaries. Clearer image delineation helps enable more precise direction for puncturing and aspiration during EUS-FNA and may make it easier to customize treatment for each patient. Electronic Radial Scanning Electronic Curvilinear Array Scanning (for EUS-FNA) Tissue Harmonic Echo (THE) mode* When ultrasound waves are propagated through tissue, distortion occurs and harmonic components are generated. THE mode uses these components to build an image of the targeted area. Potential advantages of harmonic imaging include improved resolution, improved signal-tonoise ratio, and reduced artifacts. THE-P THE-P THE-P: Penetration priority mode. This mode increases the penetration of the ultrasound waves, allowing for better visualization of objects from near to far. THE-R: Resolution priority mode. By enhancing the resolution of the image, this mode makes it easier to observe objects in the near field. THE-P * Only available on EU-ME2 Premier Plus model. THE-R THE-R High Resolution Flow (H-Flow) mode H-Flow is a more sensitive doppler that shows directional blood flow with less blooming. It is especially useful for imaging small vessels around the tip of the endoscope. H-Flow mode 4 H-Flow mode
New Features Advancing Functionality Pulse Wave Doppler (PWD) mode Pulse Wave Doppler measures blood flow velocity at a specific location. This provides the physician with the ability to determine arterial or venous flow accurately, which may assist in determining the anatomical location of structures, such as the pancreas. When the function is active, the physician is able to hear the sound wave and view it on the monitor alongside the EUS image to identify the area of interest. PWD mode Elastography (ELST) mode* Elastography is an additional tool for use in tissue diagnosis. This imaging modality maps tissue elasticity based on tissue strain and displays a color elastogram next to the ultrasound image. The color image shows tissue elasticity, or stiffness in the area of interest, which may help indicate disease processes. This may help the physician identify the appropriate areas for biopsy. ELST mode * Only available on EU-ME2 Premier Plus model. ELST mode 5
Compact, Backward and Forward Compatibility Advancing Versatility Fully compatible with a wide range of EUS and EBUS scopes and probes Integrating both electronic and mechanical scanning technologies, the EU-ME2 is compatible with echoendoscopes and miniature probes, creating a total endosonography solution for a full range of applications. n Ultrasound Miniature Probes n Mechanical Radial Scanning EUS Scopes n Electronic Radial Scanning EUS Scopes n Curvilinear Array Scanning EUS Scopes n Curvilinear Array Scanning EBUS Scopes Backlit keyboard for ease of use during procedures The EU-ME2 features a user-friendly keyboard with a touch panel and trackball. The picture-inpicture function comes standard, allowing for both endoscopic and ultrasound images to be displayed on a single monitor. Compact, space-saving design The EU-ME2 is designed to save space in the endoscopy suite. As an integral part of the Olympus EVIS endoscopy system, it fits snugly on the standard endoscopy tower, leaving plenty of room for the other needed equipment. 6
Full support for endoscopic ultrasonography The Premier Plus version of the EU-ME2 provides outstanding image quality and functionality, comparable to a large radiology processor, in a compact body. It was designed to meet and exceed the needs of gastroenterologists performing a wide range of EUS procedures. New and enhanced features improve visualization and assist in diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures, leading to improved quality of patient care. Full support for endobronchial ultrasonography The EU-ME2 allows real-time visualization of the targeted node or mass and confirmation of needle placement under ultrasound guidance and provides the same outstanding image quality as the Premier Plus version. This makes it ideal for EBUS-TBNA procedures, which have been proven to improve accuracy of lung cancer staging, thereby enhancing overall patient care. For sampling lesions identified in the periphery using radial EBUS, a guide sheath can be deployed to extend the reach of the bronchoscope, allowing biopsy forceps or cytology brushes repeated access to the region of interest without losing the target. Images captured via an ultrasound probe as it is advanced through the guide sheath to assess a lesion. EU-ME2 and EU-ME2 Premier Plus comparison The versatile EU-ME2 is forward and backward compatible with a wide range of Olympus EUS and EBUS scopes as well as ultrasound miniature probes. Since the processor is appropriate for gastroenterology, pulmonary and thoracic surgery departments, it offers healthcare facilities with a cost-effective resource that can be shared across specialties. The processor is available in two models to meet the needs of any size facility.
