ALL SEASON PATIO COVER 61

Where the All Season Patio Cover is to be attached to the home, create a level line showing where the top of the mounting rail is to be located. Install each section with the short side down as shown. Apply caulk to the back of the and secure in place with #10 x 2" screws into a structural part of the home. When the has been installed, seal the area on top of the Mounting Rail against the home with Caulk. If more than one piece of mounting rail is used, caulk the top and bottom or the joint in the mounting rail. #10 x 2" TEK Screws Caulking If the length of the patio is greater than 10', join the front support together with the joiners provided. Lay out all the sections of front support with the shortest section to the left. Be sure that the front support is positioned so that is slopes forward. Turn the front support sections up side down and insert a joiner so that it is spaced evenly between the two pieces. Use #10 x ½" tek screws to secure the front support sections together (two on the front side and two on the back side of each front support section). Be sure the joiner is down against the inside legs of the front support and both sections are even and straight. #10 x 1/2" Tek Screws Joiner Insert the 30" sections of the telescoping posts into the 84" sections. Place a clamp on the 30" section, allowing about 8" of the smaller section to enter the larger section. This will prevent the smaller section from telescoping further into the larger section until it is time to level the patio cover and permanently adjust the height of the posts. While the front support is resting upon the ground, insert two post assemblies into the front support 6" to 18" from each end of the front support. Insert the smaller section of the post assembly all the way into the front support until it rests against the stop within the front support. Secure the post assemblies into the front support with two #10 x ½" TEK screws as shown. Post Insert (30") Post (84") #10 x 1/2" Tek Screws Space the remaining post assemblies evenly between the first two post assemblies and secure in place with two #10 x ½" TEK Screws. If a front support joiner is in the assembled front support, the post assemblies must be installed on either side of the front support joiner. After the roof has been installed and the anchors for the posts have been installed, the telescoping posts can be leveled by removing the clamp on the smaller post section and moving the telescoping post sections to the desired height and then securing the two sections together with #10 x ½" TEK Screws. The telescoping post can be adjusted for height as often as needed. 62

The front support and post assembly may be raised to a free standing position to support the front end of the roof panels during assembly. This is possible by moving every other post inward toward the home. & Post Assembly In A Free Standing Position Mounting Surface 3" Column Option A 3" square extrusion is used as a 3" column and a 3" horizontal support system. It is available in lengths of 10' and 20'. To extend a 3" horizontal support system, cut two pieces of 3" "U" Channel eight inches long. Place the "U" Channel sections evenly over the two 3" horizontal square sections and secure them to the 3" horizontal support using four #10 x ½" TEK Screws on both sides of the "U" Channel. Determine the desired location of the columns on the horizontal support system. Secure the column brackets to the bottom of the horizontal support system where ever a column is to be attached using two #10 x ½" TEK screws. Determine the desired length of the 3" columns. Cut the columns to the desired length. Drill a total of four 3/16" holes ½" from each end of the column, two holes at each end, one hole on a side with the second hole on the opposite side. Place the columns over the column brackets on the horizontal support system with the holes in the column facing the legs of the column support. With the column fully seated over the column bracket, drill two 9/64" holes in the column brackets using the 3/16" holes in the column as guides. Secure the column to the column brackets using #10 x 1" screws using the drilled holes. Cap the top of the horizontal support system with an adjustable "F" channel with the curved leg on the adjustable"f" channel facing towards the home. Secure only the short straight leg of the adjustable "F" channel to the horizontal support system using #10 x ½" TEK screws, allowing the back of the adjustable "F" channel to accommodate the angle of the roof when it is installed. The horizontal support system and columns can now be raised to a freestanding position to support the roof panels during installation by moving every other post inward toward the home. 3" Column (as Horizontal Support) 3" U-Channel (as Joiners) #12 x 4" Tek Screw 3" Panel Adjustable F-Channel 3" Column (as Horizontal Support) Post Bracket 3" Column (Post) 63

Determine the desired setback distance of the posts with reference to the front of the patio cover, which may be from 6" to 18". Mark this distance on the bottom of each patio cover panel. If a future enclosure is to be installed under the patio cover, it is wise to locate the front support where the enclosure wall will be located. Since the all season patio cover panels are normally manufactured in four foot widths, patio covers with lengths not divisible by four will have one or two panels with a narrower width. It may be desirable to locate these panels at either end of the patio cover. If working from right to left, place a bead of sealant along the top left side of the first panel and install an H-Bar over the edge of the panel leaving a 3/4" space between the front end of the panel and the H-Bar. This will allow room to attach the gutter fascia. Sealant H-Bar 3/4" #8 x 1/2" Tek Screw Post Starting flush at the right end of the mounting rail, position and square the first patio cover panel into the mounting rail and secure with #8 x ½" tek screws every 6" through the top of the mounting rail into the panel and H-Bar. Secure the panel through the bottom of the mounting rail in the same fashion only after the cover has been leveled and anchored. Secure the front support to the bottom of the first panel along the reference line created earlier using #8 x 3/4" screws through the pre-punched holes in the front support. Seal the area above the first panel where it enters the mounting rail. Sealant Place a bead of sealant along the top right and left sides of the second panel. Place an H-Bar over the left side of the second panel just as the first panel - leaving 3/4" space at the front of the H-Bar. Insert the right side of the second panel into the H-Bar secured to the first panel and the mounting rail attached to the home. Secure and seal the second panel in the same fashion as the first panel keeping the front of the patio cover straight and even. Second Panel Post H-Bar 64

When the 3" horizontal support system is used, secure the long leg of the adjustable "F" channel to the underside of the roof panels using #10 x 1/2" tek screws to pull the adjustable "F" channel flush with the bottom of the roof panels. The minimum recommended pitch on the All Season Patio Cover is 3/4" per foot of fall. When this pitch has been achieved, level the front end of the patio cover and secure the post insert to the post with #8 x ½" tek screws through the front and back of the post. After the posts have been vertically aligned, mark their location on the mounting surface and move the post off to one side to allow room for the anchors. Once the patio cover and posts have been secured, return to the mounting rail and secure the panels every 6" through the bottom of the mounting rail into the panels and H- Bars with #8 x ½" tek screws. Home Recommended Minimum Pitch is 3/4" Per Foot Post Assembly Patio Cover Panels #8 x 1/2" Tek Screws Concrete Anchors It may be wise to keep at least 2" away from the edge of the concrete to prevent cracking. Drill a 1/4" hole at least 2" deep in the concrete. With the nut and washer flush at the top of the stud, insert the stud into the hole and tap in until the nut and washer are against the concrete. Tighten the nut to raise the threads on the stud above the concrete about ½". Remove the nut and washer and place the post bracket over the stud. Replace the nut and washer and tighten. Place the post over the bracket and secure into position with a 1/4" x 1-3/4" bolt and nut. Concrete Anchor Use 1/4" Masonry Drill Bit Wood Lag Drill a 1/8" hole in the wood surface where the center of the post will be located. Place the post bracket over the 1/8" hole and thread the wood lag into place until the post bracket is secure. Insert the post over the bracket and secure with a 1/4" x 1-3/4" bolt and nut. Wood Lag Ground Anchors Drive the ground anchor into the ground until Slot-A meets the ground. Insert the locking rod through Slot -A about 3" and continue driving the anchor into the ground until Slot-B is about ½" to 1" off the ground. Drive the locking pin through the anchor until it is flush with the ground. Position the post over the top of the ground anchor and secure into place with a 1/4" x 1-3/4" bolt and nut. Slot B Locking Rod Slot A Ground Anchor 65

Outline the center of the downspout adapter on the bottom of the gutter fascia in the desired location for a downspout. Cut a hole within the center of that area and secure the adaptor. Attach the gutter fascia to the front edge of the patio cover panels so that it is flush at each end. Use #10 x ½" tek screws every 24" along the top and bottom of the gutter fascia. Seal the top edge of the gutter fascia to the panel. The side fascia should be cut to fit flush against the home and flush with the outside edge of the gutter fascia. Cap the side of the patio cover panels with the side fascia ans secure every 24" along the top and bottom. The side fascia will overlap the gutter fascia at the front by spreading the top and bottom flange which caps the panel. Patio Cover Panel Side Fascia Gutter Fascia Three downspout elbows are provided to allow the downspouts to be set back and to provide a kick out at the bottom. The 7' downspout may be cut if the set back is greater that the distance of the two elbows. Secure each section with #10 x ½" screws. Fasten the downspout assembly to the post using the two straps provided for each downspout assembly. Elbows Adaptor 66
