Page 7 At 10 a.m. Friday, September 12th, 18 teams teed up for a fundraising event at the Arlington Club. Half of the $35,000 raised will help renovate the clubhouse, and the other half will fund scholarships for the Eastern Kentucky University golf team. Our plan is to make this an annual event, next year we want to engage the entire community and not only have a golf tournament but an outdoor concert too, said Craig Turner, who chairs the EKU Board of Regents. I have a great love for Richmond. I went to school here. My wife went to school here. I like to help raise money for a good cause while having a good time. The Arlington Country Club is looking to increase its membership and restore members it has lost in the past few years. We are making improvements and looking forward to growing our membership community, said Todd Christian, Arlington general manager. From now until the end of the year we are having a membership drive with incentives. We are excited about the opportunities that are ahead of us. In the future, Turner said he has plans to turn the Arlington Golf Classic into a collegiate event, and he believes this is just the beginning of great things happening at Arlington. - The Richmond Register
