This Active Arena session will present the views of several major Chinese Corporations. The session will begin with introductory remarks from Xu Erwen, China Consul General in Houston. Panelists Mme. Xu Erwen is the 12th and current Consul General of the People s Republic of China in Houston. She assumed the office as of August 2011. Consul General Xu has extensive overseas working experiences. She served twice in the Chinese Embassy in the United States, as Minister Counselor from 2007 to 2011, and as First Secretary and Counselor from 1996 to 2000. She also served in the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from 1985 to 1990. She worked in the Central Office of Foreign Affairs of the People s Republic of China for many years, as Counselor and Deputy Director-General (Director-General level) from 2001 to 2007, and as Deputy Director and Director from 1992 to 1996. She joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China upon graduation from university and served hereafter as Attaché in the Department of European Affairs from 1983 to 1985 and Third Secretary from 1990-1992. Dr. Yan Cunzhang studied in China University of Petroleum and Petro-China Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development (RIPED) and obtained PhD in oil/gas development engineering and is a member of SPE. Mr. Yan is now the President of Petro-China Foreign Corporation Administration Department (CCAD) and is also an Assistant Director for the Petroleum Engineering Committee of Chinese Petroleum Society, as well as the Member of Chinese Committee for the World Petroleum Council. Mr. Yan has been serving in CNPC since 1984. He was engaged in oil/gas field development evaluations, in the positions of deputy head and head for the development section of RIPED before 1996. Then he was moved to the positions of Chief Geologist and Deputy GM of CNPC Development Bureau and later an Assistant GM of Petro-China E&P Co. From 2005 on, he is designated the President of CCAD and responsible in Petro-China for management and coordination of foreigninvolved projects within the country. 2 of 5
Mr. Zhang Yongjie holds a bachelor degree in drilling engineering from Yangtze University and a Master degree in Business Administration from Dalian University of Technology. He currently serves as executive vice president of Sinopec Oilfield Service Corporation and president of Sinopec International Petroleum Service Corporation. From 1983 to 1993, Mr. Zhang Yongjie worked as directional well drilling engineer before he was promoted to deputy director of Intelligence office in Drilling Technology Research Institute, Zhongyuan Petroleum Exploration Bureau. Also in the same bureau, from 1993 to 2003, he focused on development and management of international oilfield service projects and gained rich work experiences in various countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and UAE. From 2003 to 2012, Mr. Zhang Yongjie worked as vice president, Board of Directors and then president in Sinopec International Petroleum Service Corporation (Sinopec Service). The Petroleum Service business of Sinopec Service has been developing rapidly with $14.8 billion worth of contracts under execution in 43 countries by end of 2012. Mr. Yang Yun earned a bachelor s degree in Oil Extraction Engineering at Southwest Petroleum University in 1985 and received an MBA from Tsinghua University in 2003. He is a senior oil and gas executive with proven leadership and management capabilities. He has had 27 years of experience in offshore oil and gas fields development. Mr Yang has proven expertise and track record on production operation, field construction management. He has held positions at Qinghai Petroleum Administration Bureau, CNOOC and is currently Executive Vice President, Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd 3 of 5
Dr. Dwayne Breaux holds a Ph.D. in Structural Dynamics from Texas A&M University and a Masters in Civil Structures from Louisiana Tech University. Dr. Breaux has over 20 years of experience in the energy industry, including 14 years at SBM Atlantia, where he completed the design, construction and installation of over ten major deepwater offshore platforms for leading oil companies in the Gulf of Mexico. While employed by J. Ray McDermott, Dr. Breaux completed over twenty shallow water projects for marine operations. He has worked on projects for BP, Shell, Chevron, BHP Billiton, Total, Marathon and other major oil companies. Dr. Breaux joined the Wison Group in 2009 and is currently President & CEO - Wison Offshore & Marine (USA), Inc. and Executive Vice President - Wison Offshore Marine, Ltd. Dr. Wu Qiang completed his undergraduate work at Wuhan Institute of Water Transportation Engineering in 1982 and he was awarded a Master of Ship Fluid Mechanics from Wuhan Institute of Water Transportation Engineering in 1989. In 2005 he received his Dr of Design and Construction of Naval Architecture and Ocean Structure, Harbin Engineering University. He joined CSSC in 1989 and is currently Vice President. 4 of 5
Dr. Muthu Chezhian currently serves as the Chief Technical Officer of Rongsheng Offshore & Marine. In this role, he strategically directs, plans and leads the global engineering organization, with engineering centres in Singapore, Shanghai and Nantong. This covers Detailed engineering and Production engineering, which forms the foundation for Rongsheng s EPC execution. Further he oversees corporate long term strategies for technology and product portfolio. He has more than 18 years of experience in offshore oil and gas field development and marine projects. Prior to joining Rongsheng, he had worked with Wison, APL & DNV. He has a PhD & MS degree from the NTNU, Norway and also holds a PMP certification.
