[1] Submitted by Ana White [2] on Thu, 2011-11-17 00:49 [1] Thank you thank you for understanding. It's been a rough few days for the website, and I'm so grateful you have been patient and understanding of the technical growing pains we have been dealing with. Page 1 of 16

I built this picnic table set for Grace's American Girl Doll a while back, and have been eager to share the plans with you. Page 2 of 16

Of course this table isn't just for American Girl or 18" dolls. But look at this photo I was able to snap with my phone (hence the horrible quality) just last night... Page 3 of 16

I had no idea this table set would also fit my toddler niece (she's 2 1/2 years old). Yet another reason to DIY... you can build as strong as you need to. Seriously, I just stood on the table to reach the top shelf of the armoire [3]... and it is STRONG. Page 4 of 16

Special thanks to MyLowe's for the easy to get realtime price quotes. And of course you can't beat FOUR BUCKS in lumber for this cute super strong doll picnic table set. I had considered using smaller boards for the legs, but smaller boards either cost more or require you to have a table saw. And they are more difficult to attach. I used leftover pink paint from the Dream Dollhouse [4] roof to paint, and used nails and glue to attach with a finish nailer. Ready to build your own? Summary: Make a doll picnic table for American Girl or 18 doll. CategoriesProject Type: Doll Furniture [5] Room: Kids and Toys [6] Skill Level: Intermediate [7] Style: Children's and Kid's Room Furniture and Toy Plans [8] Estimated Cost: Under $20 [9] Dimensions: Fits standard 18" or American Girl Dolls Page 5 of 16

It is also advisable to review the Getting Started Section. Take all necessary precautions to build safely and smartly. Work on a clean level surface, free of imperfections or debris. Always use straight boards. Check for square after each step. Always predrill holes before attaching with screws. Use glue with finish nails for a stronger hold. Wipe excess glue off bare wood for stained projects, as dried glue will not take stain. Be safe, have fun, and ask for help if you need it. Good luck! Step 1 Page 7 of 16

Step 2 Page 8 of 16

Glue and nail the supports to underside of tabletop boards. Step 3 Page 9 of 16

Now attach the longer legs to the insides of the supports, as shown in diagram. Step 4 Page 10 of 16

Then attach remaining shorter legs as shown in diagram. Don't forget the glue on these legs - it is very important. Step 5 Page 11 of 16

These can actually be just glued in place. Center and attach as shown above. Step 6 Page 12 of 16

Finishing InstructionsPreparation Instructions: Fill all holes with wood filler and let dry. Apply additional coats of wood filler as needed. When wood filler is completely dry, sand the project in the direction of the wood grain with 120 grit sandpaper. Vacuum sanded project to remove sanding residue. Remove all sanding residue on work surfaces as well. Wipe project clean with damp cloth. It is always recommended to apply a test coat on a hidden area or scrap piece to ensure color evenness and adhesion. Use primer or wood conditioner as needed.
