designs. Remove from hoop and gently remove tear-away. 2. To create striped edging cut two 1 1 /2" strips from each of the three fabrics (a total of six strips). 3. Alternating colors, and with right sides together, stitch the strips together along the long edge with 1 /4" seams. Cut the stitched piece in half, width wise, through the strips. Stitch these two pieces together. You will now have one piece that is 12 strips across. Press seams to one side. Cut into four 4 1 /2" pieces. 4. On each of these four pieces of edging, press both long edges to the inside 1 /4". Fold in half, lengthwise with wrong sides together, and press. Heat will melt the screening material. 1. Cut screening to measure 11" x 14". Decide placement of designs on the screen and mark center of designs with disappearing ink pen. Zigzag the inside edge. 7. The top piece of edging will have open ends for hanging. Open the last piece of edging and lay flat, press the short ends to the inside 1 /2" and top stitch. Place on the top edge of the screen and zigzag the inside edge. Hints: * We used variegated thread for the zigzag stitches. * You may want to wind bobbins with matching thread for the appliques to create a reversible design. 1

Do not trim the backing, this will add fullness to the pages. 3. With right sides together stitch one blue page to one white page using a 1 /4" seam leaving an opening for turning. 4. Trim corners, turn and press. Edge stitch around the pages. Layer pages and stitch down the center to create the spine of the book. Lay cording on the inside center, turn, lay cording on outside center, zigzag cording in place leaving 1" to tie a bow. 6. Add embellishments to designs using fabric marker. 1. Cut four 12" x 6" pieces of fabric, two from Color 1 and two from Color 2. Cut eight 12" x 6" pieces of backing. Mark center stitch line with disappearing ink pen on the four 12" x 6" fabric 3

Embellished Box 1. Hoop two pieces of backing. Spray the backing with adhesive, adhere heavy stabilizer to backing. 2. Embroider design. Remove from hoop. 3. Trim backing and stabilizer close to embroidered design. 4. With craft glue or double-sided tape, wrap the bottom and top of the box with coordinating gift wrap. 5. Adhere the ribbon, accents and embroidered pieces with craft glue. 2 coordinating gift-wraps - size is determined by the size of the box Ribbon - length will be determined by the size of the box Accents, if desired Fabric Scraps for applique Heavy stabilizer Spray adhesive Craft Glue and/or double-sided tape Designs CH2529 and CH2534 4

Cut one 2" x 45" strip of fabric and one 2" x 25" strip of fabric from Color 3. Cut one 2 1 /2" x 52" strip of fabric (you will need to stitch two strips for the length) and one 18" x 14" piece of fabric from Color 4. 3. Mark center of design(s) on the 5 1 /2" x 9 1 /2" piece of fabric. Hoop with two pieces of backing. Embroider design(s). Remove from hoop. Fold 8" x 14" fabric in half, mark center of the 8" x 7" area. Embroider design. Remove from Hoop. Do not trim backing on either of these pieces; it will add fullness to the projects. Assemble Placemat 4. Stitch Color 2 strip Log Cabin style around the 5 1 /2" x 9 1 /2" piece of fabric, stitch Color 3 Log Cabin style around Color 2, and stitch Color 4 Log Cabin style around Color 3. 5. With right sides together pin the 18" x 14" piece of fabric to the embroidered/log Cabin piece. Stitch around outside edge with a 1 /4" seam leaving an opening to turn. Trim corners, turn, and press. Top stitch the outside edge and stitch in the ditch to quilt the top and bottom together. Assemble Treat Bag 6. Fold 8" x 14" fabric in half widthwise with right sides together. Stitch 1 /4" side seams. 1. Add lettering to design if desired. (We used the AlphaSizer.) 2. Cut one 5 1 /2" x 9 1 /2" piece of fabric for the placemat and one 8" x 14" piece of fabric for the treat bag from Color 1. Cut one 31" x 1 1 /2" strip of fabric 7. To form flat bottom, open seam flat and sew 1 /2" from point. Turn and press. 8. Make binding from 2" x 25" strip of fabric. Bind top of bag. Continue to stitch extra binding. Form a loop and stitch end of binding to bag. 5

Hoop backing and fabric. Embroider design. Remove hoop and trim the backing close to embroidery. Repeat for remaining three pieces. 3. Fold accent fabric in half lengthwise and press. On long sides of the embroidered band turn under 1 /2" and press. Place 5" up from bottom end of towel. Layer in this order: towel right side up, accent fabric, and band right side up. (We placed accent fabric so 1 /8" showed.) Edge stitch in place. Kitchen Towel 4. Hem towel edges by rolling 1 /4" twice and topstitch. 1 yard fabric Color 1 1 yard coordinating fabric Color 2 1 /4 yard accent fabric (The fabric listed above will be enough for four towels.) Fabric scraps for applique Designs CH2533 and CH2531 1. Cut four 4" x 22" pieces of fabric, two from Color 1 and two from Color 2. Cut four 22" x 6

Daycare Quilt 1 2 /3 yards 45" wide fabric - Color 1 (green) 2 yards 45" wide fabric - Color 2 (pink) 1 /2 yard fabric - Color 3 (monkey print) Fabric scraps for applique Coordinating yarn for tying Quilt batting - one piece 45" x 60" and one piece 15 1 /4" x 15 1 /4" Design CH2536 1. Color 1 will only need to be cut if it is wider than 45". Cut one piece of Color 2 to measure 45" x 60", and one piece to measure 12 1 /2" x 12 1 /2". Cut one piece of Color 3 to measure 15 1 /4" x 15 1 /4", cut two strips to measure 3 1 /2" x 15 1 /4" and two strips to measure 3 1 /2" x 12 1 /2". 2. Mark the center of the 12 1 /2" x 12 1 /2" piece of Color 2 fabric with the disappearing ink pen. Hoop fabric with two pieces cut-away backing. Embroider design. Remove from hoop and trim backing close to design. 3. With right sides together sew Color 3 strips around embroidered piece with 1 /4" seams. Press seams toward dark fabric. 4. Lay embroidered piece and Color 3 piece measuring 15 1 /4" x 15 1 /4" right sides together, lay 15 1 /4" x 15 1 /4" batting on top. Sew sides and top with 1 /4" seams, leaving bottom open to turn. Trim corners, turn and press. 5. Sandwich the main fabric, pocket, backing and batting in this order: lay down Color 1 fabric with right side up, center the embroidered pocket with embroidered side down on the Color 1 fabric, the right side of backing to the right side of Color 1 fabric, then the batting. Pin edges to secure in place and sew 1 /4" around the entire quilt leaving a 12" opening to turn. 6. Clip corners and turn right sides out. Smooth pocket up and pin in place, top stitch 1 /4" around the quilt and the sides of the pocket. 7. Tie with yarn to keep batting in place. 7
