Specifications for the InTurn Ultra and Ultra-T Indexing and Turning 4 th axis Industrial quality. 100% duty cycle. Production ready. The InTurn series is the only CNC mill accessory that provides both Indexing and coordinated 4 axis motion with high speed turning, all under CNC control. The machine is not a converted 4 th axis, spin indexer, rotary table or mini lathe. Custom designed from head to toe, the machine is built from all new parts that are made specifically for this machine and optimized to provide the dual roles of indexer and lathe head. The spindle is a single 4140 alloy steel forging and rides on premium double sealed SKF Explorer series ball bearings. For massive or cantilevered work pieces, choose the Ultra-T. The SKF tapered roller bearings can carry more than 7 times the load of ball bearings. Spindle nose mounts Industry Standard D1-6 Cam Loc or A2-6 Chucks The Ultra can accommodate POWER CHUCKS with a 2 thru hole and a hydraulic actuator mounting flange integral with the steel main drive pulley. Spindle nose accepts 16C collets. Draw tube is included.

Pneumatic internal spindle lock with 100ft-lbs @90psi Air cylinder is rated at twice this pressure offering reserve. 180mm x 4mm DOT approved hardened steel rotor. Custom designed and built articulated pneumatic caliper with off-road racing disc brake pads. Caliper is flex-plate mounted for zero backlash locking. Frame features thick cover plates that are structural components. Heavy side and top plates brace the frame uprights to prevent racking of the frame even under severe stress. Yet plates are easily removed for inspections and maintenance. The InTurn Ultra s frame covers are capable of withstanding all but the most aggressive flood cooling, but can be easily sealed for complete water tight operation. Pre-load on the tapered rollers is precisely set and maintained by a large steel threaded clamp collar on the rear of the spindle. Accommodates up to 7.5HP servo motors NEMA, DIN or OEM Motor mounting per customer specification. Base is custom drilled to fit customer mill table slots. Available steel outrigger mounting plate. Thick (1 min) surface ground steel plate for Cantilever mounting off the end of the mill table reducing footprint to as little as 4.

For work pieces over 100 lbs, cantilevered loads, off center loads, severely unbalanced loads (raw forgings or castings, crankpins, multiple part fixtures, etc.), impact type operations that induce shock loads (punching, hammering, shaving, broaching, etc), or for continuous high lateral loading operations like metal spinning, Tapered Rollers will take the abuse without damage and continue to run smoothly throughout long service life. The majority of the upcharge for Tapered Roller Bearings is the result of adding 4 individual seals. Each roller bearing is enclosed by two industrial quality rubber contact seals with integral steel shells and dual sealing lips. These seals allow machining of cast iron, brake material and similar extremely abrasive shavings as well as grinding. Mounting rings are provided for 3 of the 4 seals to accommodate tear down for inspection and/or maintenance without prying the seals out, which often destroys the. Where needed, the mounting rings are O- ring sealed to the machine frame to prevent lubricant seepage.

Compatibility Industrial systems: The InTurn uses any servo motor chosen by customer. 750 watt to 5,500 watt, 3,000 to 6,000 RPM This eliminates compatibility issues with host CNC. For commercial systems, use an axis motor from your CNC. Compatibility MACH3 and MACH4 (after release) Available custom motor control system for MACH3 Controller is independent, but tightly integrated for Seamless operation via screen, macro or G-code. For high speed turning, the Controller completely takes over the 4th axis servo drive. Switching from MACH to the Controller is done automatically and the pulse stream is generated by the controller outside of MACH3. The controller s built in high performance Digital Signal Synthesizer is capable of producing clean Mghz range pulse rates, so very high resolution encoders can be used for high accuracy indexing or coordinated 4 axis movement and still reach high RPM for the turning function.
