Turn the cabinets upside down and screw the cabinets together making two pairs. Make sure that all the edges are flush. Position the two pairs back to back. For a green island, lightly sand and paint the cabinet front edges. 60" Fasten the cabinets together using at least four screws for each pair. TIP: Use NO MORE NILS adhesive, along with the screws, on any joints for more stability. H 1 1 /8" particle board screws Pilot drill for all screw holes.
SUPPORT PNEL Pg 2 Cut the laminated pine panel. Slide the panel between the two pairs of cabinets. Now screw each pair of cabinets to the panel from both sides. Use a minimum of 8 screws per cabinet or 16 per pair. Use more screws to increase stability. Make sure all edges are flush. The panel will keep the cabinets square. Screw the cabinets together from both sides. BOTTOM VIEW 60" TIP: Use adhesive between the cabinet pairs and support panel, along with the screws, to assemble the unit. H 1 1 /8" particle board screws 18 7 /8" B GBLE-LEG SSEMBLIES Cut the two side gables out of the fridge panel. Put edge banding on the bottoms and sides of the gables that do not already have edge banding. The tops of the gables will be covered and do not need to be finished. Now fasten two legs to each of the gables. Position the tops and sides of the legs flush with the edges of the gables. TIP: Use adhesive on the leg joints, along with the screws, for added strength. BOTTOM VIEW C Be sure that screw heads are flush with the fridge panel. 2" wood screws I 18 7 /8" 26 1 /4" PINTING For a green island, paint the legs and gables. Pg 3 GBLE-LEGS TO CBINET SSEMBLY Fasten the gable-leg assemblies to both sides of the cabinet. Position the gables flush with the tops and bottoms of the cabinets. lso, position both sides of the gables 3/4" forward of the cabinet edges. This will make the gables flush with the door fronts when the 3 /4" doors are installed. BOTTOM VIEW TIP: Use adhesive between the cabinet sides and gables, along with the screws, for added strength. Pg 4 OORS & ISLN TOP Now flip the island over. Install the doors and affix the countertop as per the supplier s instructions. F Quartz, granite or laminate countertop options are available through your Home store. TIP: The countertop can be cut to fit the island for a work space. Or, consider adding an overhang on the one side to accommodate bar stools. Check with the countertop supplier for overhang maximums and if undermount supports are needed. K E E For a white island, use Lindsay doors (HH#2517-006). For a green island, lightly sand the Lindsay door surfaces before applying the paint. The green paint is: esigner Series Cabinet & Furniture paint (HH#1880-436) Beauti-Tone colour Lucky ay C45-4-04284. For optimal results, paintable cabinet doors are available by special order.
