A Note from the Education Director Dear Parents and Young Actors, Get yourself ready for another exciting year of Coterie classes! This brochure lays out all The Coterie Acts classes for the entire school year for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Spending the year with The Coterie means that you will collaborate to create theatre with professional theatre artists and fellow students in a fun and safe environment. The Coterie Acts offers creative drama and acting classes for all students to explore their imaginations. These classes encourage students to not only become actors and theatre-makers, but also to build self-esteem and confidence while refining their creativity, active listening, and concentration skills. This class is suitable for all skill levels as it introduces new students to acting basics and challenges returning students to continue their growth. The Detective Files Grades 5-7 Winter Grades 6-8 Winter Detective stories are always full of intrigue and amazing plot twists. Audition Lab Grades 5-7 Spring Grades 8-12 Spring Prepare yourself for upcoming school, community, or professional auditions. With the help of a professional teaching artist, students will choose audition monologues that match their age, personality, and individual audition needs. Students will prepare a monologue, develop successful strategies for cold readings, and learn how to create a professional resume. The final class includes a special audition with Jeff Church, Coterie Producing Artistic Director, or a member of The Coterie staff, for youth roles in the upcoming Coterie season. Even though she s really shy, my daughter really enjoyed the week in your summer camp. It was a fantastic introduction to theater performance without it being too intimidating. -Coterie Parent Scene Study: Real Grimm Grades 8-12 Winter The dark and intricate themes found in old Grimm Brothers tales have recently inspired movies and television shows. Now it is your turn to explore and explode the classics! This class is suitable for all skill levels as it introduces new students to acting basics and challenges returning students to continue their growth. Sharing: Friends and family are invited to a sharing of scenes and activities on the last day of indicated classes. Scene Study: TARDIS Adventures with Doctor Who Grades 8-12 Fall Jump in the TARDIS to join your favorite Doctor as he travels through space and time.
