The application temperature range for both the air and substrate is 40 to 00 F (4 to 8 C). Refer to Instruction Bulletin 5.5 for more details. If the sign construction has a film other than film 5900 as the bottom film (the film that actually adheres to the substrate), be sure you apply the sign to a substrate that is approved for that film. Recharging Luminous Film Whether film 5900 is used in an interior or exterior application, you must provide an adequate light source to recharge the film. The recommended light source is a cool white fluorescent light that illuminates the film surface to at least 200 to 00 Lux (typical office lighting). Charging times shorter than minutes are not recommended. Lower illumination levels or other lighting sources such as incandescent, will reduce the afterglow brightness in level and duration. Also read Luminance Characteristics on page 4, or contact Technical Service for further information. Note: Even when adequately charged, an exterior sign made with this film may not be as visually effective as an interior sign. This is due to the effect of other light sources in the area such as the moon, and landscaping and street lighting. Removal Film 5900 has an aggressive, pressure-sensitive adhesive and may be difficult to remove. A solvent-based adhesive remover system may be needed. Refer to Instruction Bulletin 6.5 for more details. When used as graphics for floors on approved substrates, the product is removable although the adhesive is aggressive. Applying cut letters either made of film 5900 or applied to film 5900 SCPS-2 Product Bulletin 5900 -

Shelf Life, Storage, Shipping Follow these guidelines to store and ship M Scotchcal Luminous Film 5900 and the processed graphics: Unprocessed film has a shelf life of 2 years from the date of receipt from M. Processed film must be used within year, even if the combined shelf life as processed and unprocessed film is less than 2 years. Store the graphics in a clean, dry area, out of direct sunlight, and at a temperature less than 00 F (8 C). Ship the finished graphic lying flat or in a roll. To roll, wrap the graphic, film side out, onto a minimum 5 inch ( cm) diameter core. These methods prevent the film from wrinkling or popping off the liner. Health and Safety! Caution Read the manufacturers container labels and the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for health hazard data, precautionary information, suggested first aid, and environmental information when handling any chemical products. For health and safety information for M products, or in case of an emergency, call -800-64-577 or -65-77-650. When using any equipment, always follow the manufacturers instructions for safe operation. Product Data The values given are typical for film 5900. For a custom specification, submit a request to your M sales representative. Flammability Film 5900 meets the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association Class A as defined in NFPA 0, Life Safety Code: - Scotchcal luminous film 5900 only, tested per ASTM E84-95; - Scotchcal luminous film 5900 with Scotchcal overlaminate film 646, tested to E648-94a. This characteristic must be taken into account when designing and locating signs and markings. The amount of afterglow visibility depends on the observation conditions, such as ambient light, observer, etc. The following table is the typical afterglow (luminance) measured on film 5900. The test samples were illuminated for hour with a cool white fluorescent source, at a distance providing at least 54 lux at the surface. (mcd/m 2: milli candela per square meters). Warranty and Limited Remedy The following is made in lieu of all other express or implied warranties, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose: M Scotchcal Luminous Film 5900 is warranted to be free of defects in materials and manufacture at the time of shipment and to meet the specifications stated in this Product Bulletin.
