Installation Overview & Requirements Thank you for purchasing Origami for Joomla! This document provides instructions for installing and using the Origami theme. Since the instructions are specific to the theme, they do not cover every Joomla function. For help with using Joomla, please see the Further Reading boxes (like the one at the bottom of this page) throughout the text for additional resources. We also recommend reading Joomla s official documentation at http://docs.joomla.org/. Origami supports Joomla! 1.7. Installation Quickstart Package The Origami theme has a quickstart installation package that includes Joomla, the Origami template, all extensions used in the theme and demo content. After installing the theme, you will have a complete site just like the demo site. Before you install the template, you must install the Gantry Framework plugin. Download the latest version of the plugin from http://www.gantry-framework.org/. To install the Origami template: 1. Log in to the Joomla administrator panel using admin as the username and demo as the password. 2. In the top menu, go to Site > My Profile. Enter a new password in My Profile Details. 3. Click the Save button in the top right-hand corner of the page. 4. Install the Gantry Framework plugin like any other plugin by going to Extensions > Extension Manager in the admin panel. Click Choose File to select the plugin, then click Upload & Install. 5. Now you are ready to install the theme. Go to Extensions > Extension Manager in the admin panel. 6. Go to Extensions > Template Manager in the top menu. 8. Site Logo Changing the Logo At the very top of each page in the Origami template is a website logo. On the demo site, this area says Origami. Logo Figure 2a To change the logo: 1. In the admin panel, go to Extensions > Template Manager in the top menu. 2. Click on the origami template, which should be set as the default template. 3. Click the Features tab. Image Slider Slider Options There are two slider styles from which you can choose. One only displays images and another displays images, an image title and text. Image Slider Installing the Slider Origami uses Image Show GK4 for its slider. Please follow the steps below to add the slider. To install the image slider: 1. Download Image Show GK4 from http://tools.gavick.com/image-show.html. 2. Go to your Joomla admin panel and install the slider just like any standard Joomla extension by going to Extensions > Extension Manager. 3. Click Choose File and find the module. Click Upload & Install. 4. Go to Extensions > Module Manager and click the New button at the top of the page to add a new module. 5. Select Image Show GK4 as the module type. 6. Type a name for the module. Click the Select position button and choose slider. Use the Filter field to search for the position, if necessary. 7. Unzip the slider_style_origami1.zip and slider_style_origami2.zip files to JoomlaRootDirectory/modules/mod_image_show_gk4/styles. 9. Image Slider Installing the Slider 10. On the right side you will find different menus you can expand. Under Basic, select the module style (origami1 or origami2). Figure 4b 11. Images should be around 930 x 370px, which you can set by expanding the Interface menu. See Figure 4c on the next page for other parameters that must be set. Latest Blog Posts Installing the Module To install the Latest Blog Posts module: 1. Download News Show Pro GK4 from http://tools.gavick.com/newshowpro.html. 2. Go to your Joomla admin panel and go to Extensions > Extension Manager. 3. Click Choose File and find the module. Click Upload & Install. 4. Go to Extensions > Module Manager and click the New button at the top of the page to add a new module. 5. Select mod_news_pro_gk4 as the module type. 6. Type a name for the module. Click the Select position button and choose mainbottom-c. Use the Filter field to search for the position, if necessary. 7. Next to Status, select Published to publish the module. 8. Portfolio Module Settings The Origami portfolio pages have the settings shown on the next few pages. To modify the portfolio pages layouts, go to Menus > Main Menu in the admin panel and select the portfolio page you want to modify.
