It is also advisable to review the Getting Started Section. Take all necessary precautions to build safely and smartly. Work on a clean level surface, free of imperfections or debris. Always use straight boards. Check for square after each step. Always predrill holes before attaching with screws. Use glue with finish nails for a stronger hold. Wipe excess glue off bare wood for stained projects, as dried glue will not take stain. Be safe, have fun, and ask for help if you need it. Good luck! Step 1 Page 8 of 19
[20] Start by building the basic box. I've left the top off for this step just to make it easier on you to install the drawer slides. Step 2 Page 9 of 19
[21] You can make the divider section permanent, but once it's in there, it shouldn't need to be. Just slide in - that way if your storage needs change over time, you can change the shelving configuration too. Step 3 Page 10 of 19
[22] Build the drawer box to fit your opening and drawer slides - remember you'll need to leave 3/4" at the front for the drawer face (step 5). Install drawer in lowest possible position, 3/4" inset, with the drawer slides. Step 4 Page 11 of 19
[23] Attach top - if you are planning on only using this project with a tabletop, place pocket holes on top (will be hidden by top anyway). Step 5 Page 12 of 19
[24] Attach drawer face to drawer box, leaving a 1/8" gap around all sides. Step 6 Page 13 of 19
[25] Build base first then attach to bottom of box. Step 7 Page 14 of 19
[26] Attach back to base with finish nails and glue. Step 8 Page 15 of 19
[27] Build leg. Step 9 Page 16 of 19
[28] Step 9 Instructions: Attach base and leg to tabletop. Finishing InstructionsPreparation Instructions: Fill all holes with wood filler and let dry. Apply additional coats of wood filler as needed. When wood filler is completely dry, sand the project in the direction of the wood grain with 120 grit sandpaper. Vacuum sanded project to remove sanding residue. Remove all sanding residue on work surfaces as well. Wipe project clean with damp cloth. It is always recommended to apply a test coat on a hidden area or scrap piece to ensure color evenness and adhesion. Use primer or wood conditioner as needed.
