Book Report on When You Reach Me By:Haili Nyquist 15 book challenge
Things you should know about this book... This book is by Rebecca Stead and it s called when you reach me. A girl named Miranda (the main character, and who is person reading her story to you), is going through lots of curiosity in her life. Lots of change. She is wondering why all this is happening. She wants to know why. Lets just say, whenever she rolls a dice, a question mark shows up.
Genre of this book... I d say this book is a fantasy. It is pretty realistic, except for one thing. There s something pretty mind blowing. Unpredictable, and impossible. for right now at least. It s not like there s unicorns flying all over the place, or animals talking. There s just one part that is fantasized. So, it makes the book grene fantasy. I liked that this book had fantasy in it because it made it a little bit more interesting. fantasy
A little preview/summary of when you reach me... Like I said, lots of curiosity and mysterious things are happening. Marinda wants the answers. In the beginning it talks about how Her Mom is going to be on a gameshow. To be honest I don t know why. It s not a super important part, after the game show is. In the start the book kind of starts boring. It has lots of details about what s happening, and why it s so mysterious. In the middle it starts to get a little interesting, but still kind of blain. It starts getting a little interesting in the middle, mostly because Marinda starts getting mysterious notes form an unknown person. I don t want to give away what happens, because Mrs.Weaver is going to read this book to you. So that s just a little preview. I know this doesn t really tell you much, but I think if I give more information, i ll ruin the whole book. Don t ask why.
my favorite part of this book is... I think my favorite part of when you reach me is revealing the book. So I ll just give you a quote that one of the characters state in when you reach me. It s probably my favorite part in the story because it changed my life. Take it as a clue.
What made me want to read this book was... As soon as Mrs.Weaver told us the book she was going to read after A Wrinkle In Time, I knew I had to read it. After she talked about how good it was going to be, I knew I had to get my eyes on that book. I tried to stay away from it. Then, one day at library I was looking for a new book to read. As I kept searching the shelves, until I saw a book. It was hanging on a white stand. I didn t know Mrs.Weaver didn t want us reading it, so I took it from the white holder. I told Mrs.Devlin that Mrs.Weaver said this was her current favorite fifth grade book and Mrs.Devlin said she liked it a lot to. That s what made me want to read When You Reach Me. You never know what a library can lead you to.
Would I recommend this book to a friend??? I might recommend this book to a friend. Depends on who they are. If they need a book interesting from the start, no. This book is not interesting until the last couple chapters. You have to be very patient. On the other hand, if you can wait a while for a good ending, this is your type of book. For people who are impatient while reading, don t ever read this by yourself.
This book personally affected me by I learned many things from this book. four things that personally affected me was it taught me 1.ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. 2.DON T UNDERESTIMATE SOMEONE WHO LOOKS DIFFERENT THAN EVERYONE ELSE. 3.WE CAN DO MORE THAN WHAT OUR BRAIN IS TELLING US!!!!!! 4.CHANGE ISN T BAD. (Mrs.Weaver is probably the only one who understands how.) Now these three things are etched in my head. I also love that quote on my favorite part slide. It even taught me how to think better because in when you reach me, they leave the clues. You have to figure it out. It made me feel like a detective.
Questions I have about this book I don t have very many questions, but one big one is, do Miranda's Mom and Richard ever get married??? I have many other questions, but they would ruin the book for you guys.
If I got to talk to the author I would say... Here would be what I would say to the author if I wrote a letter to her. Dear Rebecca Stead, I love your book When You Reach Me. When I grow up I want to be an author. you ve inspired me to make more books, and not to be shy about showing them. Your book taught me a lot. Do you think you ll ever make another book that includes the main characters from When You Reach Me? Do Richard and Miranda's Mom ever get married? I love how you made your book and how you gave me the clues the whole time and I just had to figure it out. Good luck on making more books! Sincerely, Haili Nyquist
What This book reminds me of... book does this remind meoriginal. of??? To be honest, this book is very It doesn t remind me of any other type of book. I know that Rebecca Stead has many other books, so I am planning to read them and see how they are alike and different. Look on the next pg. to see some other books by Rebecca Stead.
EXTRA NOTES I give this book a 7/10. I like this book and I am very fond of it. I m telling you, think about what I said about this book while Mrs.Weaver reads it to us. Read the author's other books!!!!!!!
