Bronze Characterised by its earthy colouring, Bronze meets the increasing desire for an alternative finish to stainless steel. From the moment the hardware is subjected to regular use, a natural patina is formed and the ageing process of the material occurs, creating the personality of Bronze. Our Bronze is made up of a coppertin alloy containing 92% copper and 8% tin. Whereas pure copper is comparatively soft, the tin in bronze lends it great strength and hardness. This composition therefore provides excellent resistance to wear and corrosion. Bronze is ideal for renovation and refurbishment projects providing a charming reminder of the past. Furthermore, copper alloys provide better anti-microbial properties than brass and stainless steel, making Bronze ideal for healthcare projects where hygiene is paramount. For those products that are not available in Bronze, Allgood provides a powder coated finish to match. Electrostatically applied and oven cured, the powder coating satisfies BS6496 and BS3900 requirements. Lever handles 41020 120 x 85mm Johannes Potente lever handle set. The functional style of the 50s found its clearest expression in the 41020 model. Johannes Potente designed this model in 1953. His design s strong points are its physical dynamism and simple hand shape. When Potente designed his 41020 model, it was his intention to provide visual relief from the strict lines of the door, inviting the observer to take hold of the handle. The 41020 is one of four models designed by designer Johannes Potente which became part of the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York 41023 135 x 65mm Johannes Potente lever handle set. In the 1950s, the Swiss architect, sculptor and designer Max Bill got together with Ernst Moeckel to fashion a door handle for the new Ulm Design College building. Drawing inspiration from the handles common on railway carriage doors in Switzerland, the lever made design history as the Ulm handle. 41057 127 x 70mm Jan Roth lever handle set. The 41057 lever handle is the work of Munich designer Jan Roth. Unimpressed by the models then on sale, he decided to design handles of his own. After the first casting, he took the unfinished, polished parts home and duly fitted them to his doors. Lever handles 41058 129 x 65mm Johannes Potente lever handle set. The 41058 was Johannes Potente s favourite. It is not known why he followed up his accomplished 41051 model with a redesign two years later. The 41058 does away with the triangular motif near the pivotal axis. The result is a slender, elegant model that is strikingly attractive. The 41058 is one of four models designed by Johannes Potente which became part of the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York. 41076 137 x 64mm Robert Mallet-Stevens lever handle set. The architect Robert Mallet-Stevens (1886 1945) designed several blocks of flats in the Paris of the 1920s. He was probably the first designer to hit upon the idea of taking the tubular handle devised by the Viennese philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein in the same decade, splitting it where it bends, and to mitre it back together again at right angles. It is now known as the FRANKFURT model, and there s a simple reason for this. They were rediscovered for the new Architecture Museum building in Frankfurt and soon took the market by storm. 41099 143 x 72mm lever handle set. Santiago Calatrava, the famous Spanish architect, has created many of the World s most interesting buildings. From the Tenerife Opera House to the Olympic Sports Complex in Athens, his work has covered various types of building. When FSB created this lever handle they took inspiration from Calatrava s High Rise residential tower in Malmo that he designed. This design by Frankfurt-based architect Christoph Mäckler draws on a style of lever handle popular in the 19th century. At the same time as the familiar model was formally reworked, the technical preconditions for its use as an FSB project fitting was established. Hinges Allgood Hardware hinges, where specified correctly to the recommendations of BS EN 1935, are capable of withstanding a severe degree of use. Most are particularly suitable for use with door closers and will help to ensure the smooth operation of the door. The range includes a series of hinges designed specifically for fire doors. marking of these products for their use on fire and escape doors is required. Many Allgood Hardware hinges incorporate fully concealed self-lubricating Bearings. They never stick or seize, are totally corrosion proof and, with the factory applied Teflon lubricant, are entirely maintenance-free. Tolerances Positional tolerances of holes are +/- 0.1mm. All other tolerances are subject to a production tolerance of +/- 0.5mm. Standards and Performance Most hinges are suitable for fire doors, are Certifire approved, marked and conform to BS EN 1935 and the requirements of PSA MOB. Allgood hinges are tested with the fixings supplied. Any substitution of these fixings may affect ultimate performance. All CB hinges are guaranteed for years Hinge choice and fixing position It is recommended that three hinges be used on all doors. On heavy doors the load is eventually borne by the three hinges. On light doors the centre hinge reduces warping and whip. The top hinge resists most of the bending forces which result from the door width (the leaf tends to pull away from the frame at the top and towards the frame at the bottom). Where doors are not expected to warp, it is advantageous to position the middle hinge closer to the top one, typically 200mm below. Doors of height above 2100mm should have four hinges per leaf. Again, equal spacing gives maximum resistance to warping and two high and two low gives the best load carrying ability. Recommended hinge loadings For most CB hinges, the maximum recommended load is 120kg for doors up to 9mm wide. It is rare for a newly hung door to have its weight evenly distributed between the hinges. It is more likely that the load will be borne by one hinge which then settles to the point that the next hinge takes a share of the load until eventually all the hinges share the load equally. Because, initially, all the load is on one hinge, they are rated as a single item, the total weight of the door being equal to the rated loading. For doors fitted with backcheck door closers, BS EN 1935 recommends that the actual door mass should be increased by 50% when selecting the hinge, due to the extra forces directed onto the hinges when the door reaches the backcheck position. Configuration of Door Closers Figure 1 Figure 6 FIRE DOOR CONTROLS Mechanical hold-open devices which permanently hold a door open until physically released are unsuitable for use on fire resisting doors. However, electro-magnetic release closers to BS EN 1155 hold open electrically and, when connected to a central fire-alarm system, will allow the door to close automatically in the event of supply failure or alarm activation. Allgood Hardware door releases are fail-safe. The door will be released and close immediately when the alarm is set off, either manually or by the automatic smoke or heat sensitive detectors. The door will also be released and closed automatically in the event of power failure. The door can always be closed manually. Specifications Integral hold/release mechanisms (9451 and 9456) have an advantage over standard closing devices combined with electromagnetic door releases, since they do not induce any twisting forces to the door which can lead to warping and twisting of wooden doors (after prolonged use). Regulations Electromagnetic release and swing free door closing devices are accepted by Fire Officers and local authorities and comply with the 1991 Building Regulations Approved Document B, 2000 Edition, Appendix B. Locks and latches The Allgood Hardware range of locks and latches cover all of the standard security requirements of a building. Allgood Hardware locks and latches are available in cylinder and lever versions and cover all functions. HEAVY DUTY LOCKS AND LATCHES HL72 The HL72 Modular Lock System is a full suite of heavy duty mortice locks and latches designed to support the entire Allgood range of levers, knobs and other unsprung furniture. Each series is based on standard case sizes, allowing simplified door preparation. Many of the models have alternative backsets either to place the lever handle further from the door edge, for aesthetic reasons, or to accomodate knob furniture. Latchbolts can easily be reversed without removing the lock case cover, so the same lock or latch can be specified whatever the closing direction of the door. Rebate components are available for all mortice locks, in 13mm, 19mm and mm sizes, and are suitable for either hand. Most Allgood Hardware mortice locks and latches allow for bolt through fixings for lever handles and roses, and for escutcheons on cylinder/bathroom locks. It is important to check before fixing whether the holes for furniture and/or keyhole or cylinder are required on one or both sides of door. The installation is visually clean and simple to use. This hardware is particularly suitable for bathrooms and similar situations where it is desirable to lock the door easily from the inside. Other examples of use are laboratories, darkrooms, bedrooms etc. The inside lever has a dual function. When lifted up it simultaneously locks the external lever and actuates the external indicator. The vertical position of the locked lever very clearly indicates that the door is indeed locked. Depressing the inside lever withdraws both bolts and resets the indicator. An Allgood external indicator and emergency release should be used. Any Allgood lever may be specified.
